 - Format challenges Entourage X HTML format and Windows Here's one for you: I recently changed my default message format for Entourage X to HTML so I could more easily use hyperlinks and font formatting tools. However, I have noticed when somebody with a Windows machine responds to me with my original text displayed in their message, some strange formatting changes occur. Specifically, apostrophes turn into commas; open parentheses turn into ? ; close parentheses turn into ? , etc.. How odd is this? It makes me look like a buffoon who doesn't know the difference between a comma and an apostrophe. Any ideas why this would occur, and is there a way to stop this? Have I chosen the wrong default font? My default is Verdana. Would a different font be viewed differently by Windows e-mail clients?  - Time zones Is there a way for the event I set to show up at the time I put it in?? Say I put in an appt in Australia for 5pm and then an appt for New York a few days after for 5 pm. I would like my calendar to ALWAYS show the appts at 5pm and not try to convert the times. I know where I am and will be in the world and don't need the machines help.  - How to make a template project? I have Office 2004. I created a "template project" (listed all of the tasks that I typically need for every project.) Then I created a new project (#1) and imported the tasks from my template project. I inserted the due dates and notes for each task that was needed for that particular project. But... AAARGH!! All of the tasks in my template project then had the same due dates as (#1) -- so when I wanted to insert the information for a new project (#2) I then changed the dates for #1 and for the template. Yikes. Obviously this is not the way to do it! Is there any way to make a template project so that I do not have to re-enter (and remember) what all of the tasks are for every single project I have?  - Sort by thread? I recently set up some NGs on Entourage. When I first look at the NG, the first column contains a little gray triangle on some messages. When I click this, it sorts the messages by thread. This column does not have a heading, and it does not appear as a column formatting choice.  - Entourage 2004 and SMTP over SSL? Greetings. Ever since I upgraded from Entourage X to 2004, I've been unable to send = mail through my university's authenticated, SSL-using SMTP server.=20 Entourage just waits and waits, and finally gives up with the error "An=20 operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, = or=20 there may be too much net traffic." I've verified all my server settings = and=20 even recreated the entire account. It used to work with 2004, it works = with=20 my housemate's Apple Mail client, and it works with 2004 from my office = on=20 campus (where I can use a non-authenticated, non-SSL SMTP server) -- all = quite quickly, with no long delay. Entourage 2004 also sends just fine=20 through my other email account, which uses authenticated SMTP *without*=20 SSL. Is it possible Entourage 2004's SMTP-over-SSL support is just plain = broken?=20 Can anyone verify that it works properly for them?  - E-mail message flies to dock This has now happened to two of my colleagues, one of whom stopped using Entourage for this reason. They would view their message headings without the Preview pane. Occasionally when they click on a message to view it, it opens but then immediately disappears, leaving an icon for the message file in the dock.  - birthdays of contacts - entourage insists on inputting a year When I try to insert a contact's birthday, entourage insists on inputting a year for me. I don't necessarily know the year someone was born, nor is it any of my business. How do I format the birthday so that I do not have to have a year included.  - "There is no such disk" error on launch. OK, this makes the third time I have tried to post this, but this time=20 from I.E. Apparently something about the MSFT support site doesn't=20 like to play well with Safari. Great. Anyway... I just got Office 2004 and installed it, and when I try to launch=20 Entourage I get the following error dialog: "An error occurred. There is no such disk." Say what? It's almost as if I were trying to launch an alias to a = volume=20 that doesn't exist, but this happens from launching the main=20 application executables too. What gives? I do have a very old copy of Office on this machine... I think Office=20 2001? I can't even remember. I have uninstalled & reinstalled and have = tried both the install wizard and the drag copy install, same results. =20 Entourage is the component of Office I use the most, so this is a really = big deal for me.  - updating from x to 2004, emails I was using entourage X in a exchange server environment. 1. After installing entourage 2004 all the subfolder where I'm storing = the=20 incoming mails has not been imported correctly also if they are = correctly=20 synchronized. Only the mails left into "incoming" and "sent" are imported correctly = and=20 2004. This is confirmed from the different size of "Main Identities" X = and=20 2004. 2.  - Public Folders Well, after testing Entourage 2004 with my first user, it seemed that Microsoft finally had Entourage working well with our Exchange server. I would finally be able to migrate users from Outlook 2001. Then, the user tried to access his public calendar that is maintained by his secretary. NOTHING! Is it possible for Entourage to integrate in with both public and personal calendars? Everything else was working as it needed to be.  - New to Mac world - can't figure out... Hey there. Just bought a power book - and am in the middle of transferring my stuff over from my PC. I am very familiar with the using Outlook Express as my newsreader - and really liked the following feature: When I downloaded messages from a newsgroup - then deleted them - the next timed I went to the newsgroup - it it would only download the new messages since my last visit. Every time I clean out the particular newsgroup messages on my Mac - and go back to that particular newsgroup later - I get all the messages again... How do I control this?  - drafting an email in entourage to be sent at a future time/date am a recent convert from Outlook to entourage. in Outlook, you could go under the options tab after creating an email and tell it when you want to send it. it allowed for you to put a future time and date and it would wait until that time/date to send. is great when you remember you need to send someone x email and allows you to just do it now and will send when you want it to. is this possible in entourage?  - Corrupt mailbox (I think) Hello, My wife's computer has a problem receiving mail in one of her accounts (Entourage v.X) - the application just quits. Checking and getting incoming mail for her other accounts works fine. I can get her mail on the problem account on my copy of entourage, so I suspect the mailbox for that account is corrupt.  - Address book anomaly When entering recipients in a new email, it comes up with an 'Andrew' Surname which should be 'Andy' Surname. So I go into Address Book where I discover it already *is* Andy Surname. A search reveals that there is no Andrew Surname despite its appearance in the email recipient's box.  - Function of Project Center Contacts (Entourage 2004) While I recognize that the main idea of the Contacts tabs with the Project Center is to create a shareable list of contact data for members of a particular project, what I'd really like to be able to do is a) create rules based on that list and 2) to send e-mail messages to that list, neither of which I can see a way to do without separately creating and maintaining a Group. Perhaps an AppleScript could be created that would compare a particular group against the contact list of a particular project and synchronize them.  - Chinese/Japanese characters between Entourage and handheld Does anyone have an idea of how to sync Chinese (or Japanese) characters used in contacts/calendar on Entourage with a Palm-based handheld? I use a Treo 600 with Entourage X. The mac has Chinese language fonts installed, and I often insert Chinese characters into message/tasks/contacts, though most are in English. This has worked fine. I also used Chinese on my Treo 600 (CJK-OS). That also works fine. However, when I sync my Entourage data to my treo (palm hotsync with Entourage conduit), the Chinese data on Entourage shows up as just ??? on the handheld. Likewise, when I type Chinese data on the handheld and sync with Entourage, the data shows up as unreadable gibberish in Entourage. Moreover, if I so much as open a contact that has Chinese characters on the handheld, all the Chinese characters turn to gibberish the next time I sync with Entourage. What seems to be happening is that the two systems are not mutually compatible, or that the unicode is lost in the syncing process. Can anyone recommend any fixes?  - Entourage 2004 My wife cannot send any e-mail with more than 8 addresses, or any group with over same number. She gets an error message, "error 5.0.0<> user address required Explanation: Mail could not be sent. Error -17099 Mind you that she receives and sends any thing else and its okay. This also restricts her forwarding number of addresses as well. She does not recall having this issue with Entourage 2001 on 9.2 OS.  - Import Outlook 2001 mail into Entourage? I have some mail I synchronized and saved in Outlook 2001 when I left my last job (where I was using OS 9.2), and I would like to open it on my home computer (where I'm using OS X 10.3). I've tried opening it in Outlook 2001 (in Classic mode), which I just downloaded to this computer, but I guess since I don't have access to an Exchange server anymore that won't work. I've also tried creating an Entourage identity and importing to that, but there's no option to import from Outlook 2001, and when I try via MBOX-format file it doesn't recogize the files I saved.  - Entourage 2004 Login Problem I've repeatedly received the following message when attempting to setup an account in Entourage 2004 with an Exchange hosting provider: "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." -OWA works beautifully with the same account -I've attempted every possible username format given by the host -I've tried 5 different users, so I don't think a duplicate entry or alias is causing a problem -My proxy settings fine--none configured -Our host is running Exchange 2003 -SSL is not required, so secure DAL isn't the issue -I've successfully synced up with a different exchange server in a non-hosted environment -The host is using Basic Auth rather than Form-Based authentication -I've read every document available on the web already dealing with this problem -My exchange server is set as the URL to OWA I've traced some HTTP traffic, and Entourage 2004 seems to be using the "PROPFIND" verb. Could that be an issue? Could it be some other strange limitation with Basic Authentication? Thanks for any help! I'm at my wits end here! The host has spent hours on this as well and even brought in a Microsoft consultant, and they still can't get me up and running! A week into it now, and we're starting to appreciate what the Custom Views can do for us in terms of seeking out tech support calls on customers, upgrades, all of it.  - problem setting entourage as default reader Since switching over to Panther (10.3), I notice that this results in a problem with running a Mail Merge from Word through Entourage. It used to be that you could go into the System Prefs, and set the default mail app, or browser in the "Internet" prefs, but that's now gone. Instead, it's now set up such that you have to go into the apple Mail app, and select the default mail reader from within these prefs. I ran into this problem today trying to set up another user so that she could do a mail merge from an Excel table, to send a Word document out as an email. Problem: she has dumped her apple Mail app, so we can't open that to set the default mail client to entourage. does anyone know a workaround? i'm wondering if there may be a file in the library that can be trashed and force entourage to ask whether to make it the default (when i set her up with entourage, i unfortunately clicked "No" when it asked me, figuring if i needed it i could change it later in the System Prefs!!)  - Entourage 2004 I have an issue with Entourage, all attachments recieved from pc and mac users are coming up as corrupt when i try and open them. i have entourage setup popping to the exchange 5.5 server. if i log into owa i can open them fine as wel las regular mac mail. If I enter a new appointment in the Palm calendar then hotsync to
Entourage, the appointment is correctly added to the Entourage
calendar but deleted from the Palm calendar.

The other way works fine; appointments created in Entourage are synced
to the Palm.

I didn't have this problem until I moved to the Treo 600. It occurs
both with Entourage 2004 and Entourage X.

I use the following work-around: Add an appointment to the Treo
calendar. Hotsync. Modify the appointment in Entourage in some
trivial way (like add a space to it), then hotsync again. The
"modified" appointment is now in both calendars.

I have the latest firmware for the Treo, and the latest conduit from
the 2004 CD. The calendar is palmOne Calendar v. 5.2H.

In the Entourage Conduit setting, check if Enable synchronization with these
new handhelds is selected. If not select it and check.
