Anyone know why my Entourage might be starting on its own? It's not in the
startup folder or anything like that. I quit, and 15 mins or so later, I
find it's starting on its own. Started happening about 3 weeks ago...
Possibly since the Office update, but can't remember precisely.

I've tried a rebuild etc...

Help appreciated.

It's more likely a script you are running, or some other application is
running, that checks the status of Entourage periodically, causing it to
launch.

Hmm... I'm not running any scripts, or not that I know of. Which leaves me
hoping it's not viral. Would that explain some slowness on Entourage's part
too?

I've done a spotlight to try to find scripts that might be using the
'launch' command, but with no effect... Any further thoughts?

Thanks,

Why do so many people assume any malfunction of a computer must be a
virus? There are ZERO Mac OS X viruses in the wild. Period.

...I'll let that sink in...

No, really, it's the truth - ZERO for the past six years.

Anyhow, I'm betting you installed some piece of software a while back
that shows you how much mail you have, or does something else with
Entourage. That software is set to access your email (maybe to check
email to see how many messages you have) every 15 minutes.

"launch" isn't a script command, so that's not going to turn up anything.

Check for some third-party applications that schedule events.
MenuCalendarClock can launch Entourage every time it checks for events
(whether or not you have set are any events for Entourage). Other possible
culprits: EntourageABMenu, Quicksilver, LaunchBar, iKey, Keyboard Maestro.
