 - Entourage and the beach ball I'm running Entourage under Tiger on a G4 and G5. Increasingly, the application "goes away," showing the spinning beach ball and freezing. If I look at the "force quit" dialog box it says the application isn't responding, but if I leave it alone for a period of time - usually 30-60 seconds - it comes back to life. This happens every 2-3 minutes apparently at random on both machines. Any suggestions? I have to use Entourage as the front end to our corporate Exchange server.  - Can't open web links in e-mail Hello I have a new e-mac which I am using Entourage 2004 and Safari 2.0. I have had no trouble up to know clicking on links to web sites in e-mails. All of a sudden, I can't access any web sites or web pages with a link or a site. I checked in preferences and everything looks to be set up correctly. What is wrong?  - Configure Entourage to receive Yahoo mail I have tried several times to create an Entourage account to retrieve my email from a Yahoo account. Each time I get to the verification step, the "assistant" says that either my Yahoo password or user name is incorrect. I double-checked everything but am still having problems.  - seems to be a lot of issues with Entourage I'm about to setup a 5 very active MAC mail users onto our new SB2003 server. They come from a company we just acquired. Our server with Exchange and Outlook - no big issues I'm just visiting these forums because I know next week I need to set these users up. I have between 8000 and 20000 mail calender items to import for these users..... But I see a LOT of problem with missing mail / calender items etc Is MS not fixing the problems ???  - Spinning Beach Ball when opening Entourage messages Hi All, I have been having freakin' slow opening of html messages from my in-box for a long time now. Every time I get a message with html and/or embedded pictures (that aren't even downloaded the first go) Entourage goes into this schizophrenic 'pause', where nothing happens or can be selected inside Entourage's window. Unless I wait on the order of several minutes (which I rarely do, admittedly), to get use of Entourage again, I must quit it and re-open. Re-opening the same message then goes much quicker. Until the next HTML message... and then repeat. 85%+ of my mail is not HTML coded. Still, this bugs me. I have rebooted recently for other reasons and this made no difference. This can't be happening to everyone, but I see no reason for it to happening here. It happened on my installation with a G3 (OK, it's a quite slow machine by comparison), similarly on a G4 laptop, and now again on my newer G5. The details of my installation and software follow. I think I can see a similar problem when quitting a Word file. Any correlation? Is it a feature issue? I have HTML off by default. Is it a M$ issue? Is it a OS X issue? Is it something else? This is starting to bug me. Help or some direction would be appreciated. Here's what I will soon do: 1. Rebuild the internal HD (including permissions). It has been a while. I found that despite attempts by 10.4 to repair permissions at install, problems creep in screwing up permissions. 2. Rebuild the Entourage database.  - Tables and Entourage Perhaps someone can explain why it is that whenever I open an e-mail, and open the word attachment in the e-mail, tables in the Word attachment lose their formatting.  - Entourage problem - all messages, folders, contacts, settings, rules - everything gone! Fellow users I have an eMac 1GHz ATI Graphics with 640MB RAM, currently running OSX 10.3.9 and Office V.x. I've been using Entourage for about 18 months. On startup, my Entourage asked me to rebuild the database, which I agreed to do. All of the messages, folders, contacts, settings and rules were still there after the rebuild. I quit, and the computer froze. On restarting, the computer got stuck with the beach ball spinning after the apple screen, so I switched off again and ran repair permissions. On restarting again, I went to Entourage, and there was nothing there - it appeared as though it was starting up fro the first time ie with the 'Welcome to Entourage' message and nothing else.  - Help I am new to all this and being 75 doesn¹t help. I have Mac:Office 2004 and don¹t have the foggiest idea what I am doing relative to ?Exchange¹. I have a D-link DI-624M (wireless router) and connect via DSL (Verizon) I also have a Windows XP computer using ?Office¹ and it also connected (LAN) connected via the same DSL connection.  - mail in "folder on my computer" still on server Even though I am regularly moving nearly everything out of my exhange account inbox into the inbox on my computer, I keep receiving notices from our exchange server saying I'm exceeding my space limit. Trying to figure this out, I just noticed that the the mail in "folders on my computer" shows the status icon for being on the server. I've tried to click on the icon and choose from the pop-down, "Delete from Server at next connection", but nothing happens.  - Unable to login to Entourage after reboot of Outlook Web Access server. We are running Windows 2000 Server with Outlook Web Access and have Macs with OS.X on them. Every weekend we have a scheduled reboot of this server and on Monday morning when the employees arrive they are unable to get into Entourage to get their email. They receive an error telling them that the exchange server is unavailable. If they hop over to Outlook 2001, then they get in right away.  - Emails vanish in Entourage but still held in Exchange >From time to time all emails received in my Exchange folder from 10 May 2005 vanish, leaving only older emails. This is very unhelpful when I use my laptop off line. Then when I reconnect Exchange resyncs and they reappear (after 30 mins or so)! Any ideas? Why always this particular date? Thanks!  - Project and Category Confusion in Palm Tungsten E Sync Mac System 10.3.9 Entourage 2004 v. 11.1.0 Missing Sync for Palm OS 4.0.5 (v63) Address Book, Tasks, and Notes sync OK Calendar: I'm using "Entourage overrides Palm" to prevent data loss in my Mac. Only partial calendar data is transferred to Palm. Every sync results in a "conduit manager has encountered a problem" alarm or a "sync error" or a "lost communication" error. Sync with iCal, on the other hand, works OK. (...and, no, I'm not syncing iCal and Entourage at the same time.) If I select the "Synchronize Events in Category" radio button, the list of categories include the 15 categories I've trimmed Entourage down to in a vain attempt to sync. Additionally, the list includes all (about 50) of my "Project" names as well as a few random categories that I don't think exist on any PIM in my computer or on the Palm. Might this proliferation of categories (and non-categories) be the cause of the errors? I've tried (I think) every suggestion in this newsgroup, including reinstalling the Entourage Conduit; ensuring that there are no open-ended recurring events; deleting the preference files for Entourage as well as the Entourage Storage file and the Palm Conduit Settings file; logging off-and-on; reinstalling Hot Sync (just to rule out problems with the Missing Sync), and resetting the USB cable.  - Database crash - 2nd call for HELP I posted the details about a week ago but never got any response. I am pretty much planning to move to Thunderbird at this point, but I'd love to make Entourage work again if possible. One question first. When I started using Entourage, I imported from Eudora, but Entourage doesn't seem to export emails as (I believe) other programs do and other email programs don't seem to be able to import Entourage's user data files. Is this a way to get people stuck in Microsoft, something I've heard before, or am I missing something? Basically, my database crashed every other day for a week, and then last Friday it was gone for good. When I tried to import my files a few strange things happened. (I ran the utility to verify, and then did a backup/compression twice). First no email at all, then about 400 of the 10K or more emails I have archived. I tried to import the same files, but there is no option for importing Entourage 2004, only Entourage 2000. Then for awhile I had two account listing for each single account and tons of email (almost everything. Some of my directories were missing but a lot seemed to come back). In deleting some of the duplicates and clearing them off the server, then going into Tool accounts and clearing the duplicates of each account, then I suddenly had almost nothing again. Can anyone tell me where to start? As far as backups, I don't backup per se. When I got a laptop a year ago, I set up Entourage on the laptop and copied the User Data file (I got all received mail, but none of the sent mail.) I just leave everything on the server until both sets have been downloaded. A few times later I tried replacing the user data file with the one from my main computer, but it didn't seem to make a difference (still no sent mail, etc.) So I'm a little confused about how the User Data files worked. I've looked on this support site and see lots of this type of problem, usually caused by moving the User Data folder out of documents, which is something I've never done.  - Feature requests Anyone know if it's possible to get a preview pane in the Notes, Task, and or Calendar views? (Like you can in Mail and Contacts.) Seems like bad (read inconsistent design) if you can't. I tend to keep my calendar in the month view for quick scanning of what's ahead, but it'd be nice to have the day in detail below or to the side, where the puny version of the task list sits. Same goes for Notes and Tasks. It'd be nice to flip through them, the way does mail or contact, and "preview" their contents. This seems like basic functionality to me -- see an app like Formation for the effect. I remember putting a request in back in Office X. If it isn't possible, does anyone have a better link to submit feature requests for the next Entourage. The one built into the Help menu, after passing through Passport -- for goodness sake -- takes you to a huge list of support and contact options. Sorry, but I'm trying to be helpful and I don't feel like digging. (Extra jab: Apple doesn't make it this hard. And certainly most other shops don't as well.  - Entourage connected to exch svr sees only some emails I have installed a PMac G4 with Office 2004 using Tiger 10.4. I setup Entourage and was able to get the system updating all my folders in exchange. All the folders are listed correctly but my main inbox is empty. yet all my windows machines running Outlook 2003 are fine. Any ideas. I have recreated a second connection and still the same problem.  - Entourage 2004 and Exchange Server 2003: can't see any messages Reposting a problem: I've configured an exchange mail acct in Entourage 2004 with the exchange server info provided by our sysadmin, leaving the LDAP field and Public Folder fields empty per his instructions. I receive a -18597 error, " Entourage is unable to access the mail account you are using with the mail server configured for that account." when sending test messages, and I see no messages received for the account.  - Entourage outgoing mail problems Help! My wife and I have been struggling since last Thursday (7/21/05) We have two macs (2000 G3 slot-loading imac and 2005 G5 imac). The problem is this, whenever we send outgoing mail over 2KB or with attachments we receive Error 111:"An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic." This has happened sporadically in the past few months, but never for a week at a time. A bit more about our machines OSX v.10.3.9 (Her machine probably has a more recent OS) We're using Office/Entourage 2004 Our ISP is Direcway, a broadband satellite provider (we live in the sticks) Our email accounts are POP accounts (core.com and direcway.com) We're on an Airport network within our home We called the ISP for support and were told to use their cheesy webmail program, however I send a newsletter to 400+ clients weekly and am not willing to enter all those addresses into a webmail program with spotty performance. However we were able to send mail with attachments from there. I tried pasting my newsletter addresses and text into Mac's Mail application, but received the same server timeout message. We have been receiving incoming mail the entire time without problems, and both computers stopped sending simultaneously. We thought it might be the airport network and so connected the G3 imac to the modem directly, but the problem still existed. We've called MS, Apple and our ISP each of which blame the problem on the other. We both have home-based businesses and send lots of attachments. We're getting desparate. Anyone with any ideas?  - Entourage HTML email to Outlook ends up in attachments Hi Guys, This is my first post to your newsgroup, so go easy on me. I know this sounds like a sexual health problem, but I am inquiring for a friend. She has a MAC and uses Entourage for her email. She apparently has no trouble creating great looking stuff in the body of her emails, but when she sends them to me (Windows 2000 Outlook), all the HTML has been collected into an attachment and the stunning body of the email is blank or missing all the stun. I realise this may be my problem and not hers, but she is only sending them to me because she writes things like: "As shown below..." but there is no below, and this is confusing her clients.  - ALL My emails/contacts are gone I opened my Entourage X yesterday morning and there were NO emails there and there were MANY with many folders that filed older emails the night before. I have looked and cannot find any trace of any of my old settings. I tried to "rebuild", however since there is nothing there, there is nothing to rebuild. It seems like everything was just erased. I can usually figure these things out and I'm baffled. There is only one thing I can figure that did it. I was "organizing" folders on my computer and I moved a folder entitled "microsoft user data" because it was in my documents folder and I didn't want it there. Could that be it??  - Syncronization Issues w/ Exchange Server -- unable to check email The only way to check my email on my work's Exchange Server is for me to go into the Account settings & hit "Reset Syncronization" button and that only works for one email check session. I am running Entourage 2004 v11.1 -- neither I nor the Admin has updated software recently. I've had no problems getting my email off of my work's Exchange Server since I've been here (mid-Feb) until yesterday -- after being in work for a couple of hours, I was unable to check my email. However, the Admin has said that he has seen synchro errors in his Exchange Server error log ever since I've been on the network.  - Lost 90% of Inbox mail I am using Entourage 2004 under OSX 10.4.2 and I have no idea what happened but most of my Inbox mail was deleted this morning. I did the rebuild the database trick and the mail - including many received this AM - are gone. i have a backup hard drive that was created with CCC two days ago and it looks like ENT wrote over the files on that drive as well. The MS Database file looks to be the same size on both drives. I fear that i have lost the mail from the Inbox with no way to recover. I would like to know what happened so it does not happen again.  - Issue with Exchange and Entourage Hi All Having an issue with the system we have at work. I can only connect to the exchanges server using IMAP internally. I want to use exchange account but this only works from outside our internal network Can only set server detail as OWA site cannot enter server name as then I am unable to authenticate on the server. Using Mac Mail No Problem, Currently haveing to use two accounts hence lots of space on my hard disk. Read all documents on Apple and MS sites still no avail. Need a clue to push me in the right direction. Machine able to resolve the exchange server name so not DNS.  - When will new build of Entourage 2004 be ready? Any news on when the newest build of Entourage will be ready? Last I heard it would be August 2005, is that still the case? Our users connect to Exchange 2000 with Entourage 2004 build 11.1.0. Our CEO and his assistant share his calendar and every 3 months or so he looses all or most of his calendar items.  - Fix for Tasks if accidentally saved with no due date set? New Currently the default for Entourage Task due dates is none unless you type one or click on the miniature calendar in a Task window. Problem: If you accidentally save a Task before setting a due date, it ends up out-of-sight and out-of-mind at the bottom of the list, no matter how far in the future that may be. In the course of multi-tasking or when distractions arise, it's easy to make such an error. Which would be more practical for MS Mac Business Unit developers and most users? -- Create a built-in default date for all Tasks to be the next day--the same as if you clicked on the mini-calendar for the current month that's in each Task window? Or: --Create a new preference that would allow the user to select the default date for Task due dates by checking "today," "tomorrow," or "none" unless you click on the calendar and select a new date or type one?  - can't read some of my emails - text is garbage Hi, I have a new iMac and Office X 2004. Some, but not all, of my emails are unreadable. I have not removed any of my system fonts. If I open the unreadable message and click on reply or forward, it suddenly becomes readable. If i select the garbage text copy, and then paste it, it becomes readable. If I open the email, choose edit message, then re-wrap the paragraphs under the Edit menu, it becomes readable. Sometimes any part of the message that is in italics is legible, but the non-italic text is not. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Not all the messages are in HTML format, from what I can tell. But I can't say for sure. Most HTML messages come through fine. I'm a very experienced Mac user, and this has just totally baffled me.  - cant delete old emails I use MSN for my email service and have a few old emails that won't go away. Everytime I try to delete them I get the message that it will be automatically deleted by MSN.  - I need to re-install Entourage X I need to re-install Entourage X because it unexpectadly quits a lot and does some other weird things when trying to connect to a mail server. An associate at the Apple Store said that I might have to end up doing this if nothing changed after an archive/install on my mac. Nothing changed, so I need to re-install Entourage X. How do I accomplish this without losing all of my e-mail messages, contacts, calendar dates, etc...?  - Connecting Entourage 2004 to Exchange server Hello all, a new poster here. My company has just switched to MS Exchange server, and I'm not getting Entourage 2004 to connect. I've filled in the exchange server address, but our sysadmin tells me not to worry about filling in the following server fields: LDAP, Public folder, Search base. We are using exchange OWA, if that is of any help. I've looked over the 'working with exchange server' document and still wondering what to try.  - Trouble sending mail with attachments I can send mail. Any mail with an attachment, regardless of the size (even 1k), cannot be sent. I am running Mac OS 10.4.2, and version 11.1 of Entourage. Is there something I can do to troubleshoot this issue?  - New Event futziness My apologies for the use of the word "futziness" in the subject line, but it's all I could think to describe the problems I've been having with Entourage 2004 and creating new events in calendar view.* When creating new events, I tab through all the usual boxes, setting up location, start time, but I am having a devil of a time with the end time: it just seems to want to lock up if I tab to the end time and want to either simply type in the end time, the way I did in the start time, or if I want to change anything once it's in: like changing the display from minutes to hours. Instead of calculating the 120 minutes is 2 hours, it bumps the end time to 120 hours. That's just dumb. Or sometimes if I try to set the time, and I don't make it to the AM/PM toggle fast enough, it calculate a negative duration ? and, it just gets ugly. I feel like I regularly am having to wrestle this enough that there is no feature involved, only bugs. Am I alone in facing this? (I'm going to double-check my update now, just to make sure maybe I missed an update that's causing this grief.) Tiger 10.4.2 I'm having trouble on the newsreader for one newsgroup that keeps losing its thread count and old posts are coming up as new, read posts are showing up as unread.  - Exchange: synchronize only specific folders Guys, I've recently upgraded from Entourage X to Entourage 2004 just to improve the Exchange support but I'm really disappointed to find out that there are still lots of issues. In particular, I can't believe there is no way to synchronize only specific folders! My mailbox is quite big (several GBs) but I need to synchronize only a few folders with stuff I need to bring with me when I'm traveling. Is there a workaround or an upgrade to solve this issue? Entourage missing items - lots of mail and calender entries have gone
missing over the last two week

Ok, having lost important mail, calender etc...(Web Access confirmed the
missing entries)
So I decided to do some invetigation

so...using a year old Ghost of our server I restored from Last Nights tape
Yes, LAST night

We use BackupExec and I restore the entire Tape - yes everything

Guess what - ALL the missing items seem to be back (I'll get the user to
confirm on monday)

Anyone explain this ??
