There is apparently a bug in Entourage 2004, where Internet iCal Entries
will not display the ³Accept/Decline² options (but it will show the *.ics
attachment).

Apparently Microsoft is working on a fix or workaround.

There is no such bug in Entourage that I'm aware of. There is one in Outlook
that makes interop with Entourage more difficult. Is that the one to which
you are referring.

Yes, it was confirmed that there is an issue with iCal invitations and
Entourage 2004 (not Outlook).

In Entourage X, whenever you received an iCal invite, you got the
³Accept/Decline² options. That no longer appears in Entourage 2004. Try it
if I am mistaken, I would be glad to know what configuration I have wrong
that is making it not work. I did an upgrade from Entourage X (where it
worked properly).

How are you generating the iCal invite? How are you sending it? What account
are you receiving it with in Entourage?

OK, first..I said received iCal invites. Everything (preferences) is the
same since v.X...
The entries come from Lotus Notes and Outlook users;
The receiving account is a POP3 account.

The issue happened right out of the box, as soon as I upgraded.

As I mentioned previously, there is a bug in Outlook where the iCal events
they send are not properly formatted and therefore Entourage cannot see
them. I'm not sure about Notes. If you want me to look into it further, You
could View:Source on an offending invite (one from Notes and one from
Outlook would be best) and perhaps I can see where the formatting problem
is.

Another possibility; there could be a mail gateway somewhere between the
senders and you that is munging the invite rendering it unusable by
Entourage.

I¹d be happy to help sort this out.

It might be more useful if I sent you a copy of a received Internet iCal
message in Entourage 2004. You can email me directly from this posting.

FYI...I just tried it again with a friend who hasn¹t upgraded to Office
2004.

I sent a calendar invitation from Lotus Notes to a Mac Notes client, a
Windows Notes client, an Outlook user, my friend (an Entourage X user), and
myself. I am the only one who did not receive the invite as a properly
formatted iCal invite.

We just did another round of testing, and here are the results we¹ve come up
with in my organization, in terms of Internet iCal invitations in a mixed
messaging environment:
* Lotus Notes to Outlook OK
* Lotus Notes to Entourage X OK
* Lotus Notes to Entourage 2004 - Negative
* Entourage 2004 to Outlook OK
* Entourage 2004 to Lotus Notes OK
* Entourage 2004 to Entourage 2004 (on same Mac) - Negative
* Outlook 2003 to Entourage 2004  OK

The last confirmation (even though I¹ve done this already) is testing
between Entourage X and Entourage 2004.

One other oddity: when I went to delete these test meetings, Entourage 2004
still gave me the option to ³Send notice to user/Delete without sending²,
even though I had never accepted the invitation. E2004 seems to
automatically add an iCal email to your calendar (yes, I have the
³Tentatively accept..² option off).

If anyone else would like to test this with me, I would welcome it.
