On a Windows Outlook client you can replicate the whole folder structure onto the local machine so that only new mails are picked up when out of the office. Can this be done on the Mac, in Entourage?? 2. My company uses IMAP and Mdaemon Mail server on W2003 Server. This has the facility to run shared contacts and shared calendars. These do not show up on my Mac. Does anyone know if there is a way to reveal these in Entourage instead of having to rely on a separate contacts and personal calendar? OR, heaven forbid I should ask this!, is there another Mac email client that can handle all this?? 3. On a Windows client you can operate Terminal Services (mstsc.exe) and operate a TS session from overseas/out of office to handle or run many programs remotely.  - 3rd party app to access Exchange Calendar? ARRRRGGGGHHH! I am trying my best to completely migrate away from my Windows box and use my PB to do all of my work but I need to view the calendars of my coworkers. I am using Entourage for e-mail but have to have a Windows box at my desk to look at the shared calendars in Office 2003. Does anyone know of any 3rd party apps for OS X that would allow shared calendars from Exchange to be viewed? Why did MS drop this feature? Why not make a version that is the same as Office 2003 but for the Mac with all the same features? Just doesn't make sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  - Hotmail Error (-50) Sometimes when I attempt to receive the contents of a Hotmail folder, I'll get the following message: An unknown error (-50) occurred. It appears that it gets hung up on a particular message. I usually have to go online and delete messages one at a time and then it will eventually work. This gets tedious very quickly.  - Entourage keeps asking to sign into network share Hi I have just installed OSX 10.3.9 on a machine that was running OS9. At the same time I have upgraded to office 2004 and imported my mail from outlook express 5 to entourage 2004. It has imported everything fine but if I try to go to preferences it comes up with a logon window asking me to logon to my own machine. It is the same window you get to logon to a server so it looks like entourage wants to connect to my machine eve though it is running on that machine.  - Entourage 2004 and Hotmail, Exchange Hi, I am using Entourage 2004 to access Hotmail. If I keep the application open, after sometime, it gets email only from the Inbox folder and not from all the folders. Regarding exchange server, once my machine can talk to the exchange server through VPN, entourage does not start syncing the folders immediately not when I click send and receive. It starts "on its own" convenience. The only way is to restart the application. Is there any fix for this.  - Test driver user on outgoing emails I recently purchased Office:Mac 2004 standard addition which includes Entourage. On my outgoing emails, before my name it is showing Office Test Drive User.  - Entourage stuck large messages fill up Exchange logs Hi, trying to work around a recurring problem. Mixed PC/Mac client environ, Exchange 2003. I have a max outgoing message size of 10MB set in Exchange. When an Entourage 2004 user tries to send a message that is too large, it remains in their outbox and keeps retrying to send. Exchange logs the message each time it retries, without accepting it of course. This fills up the Exchange logs -- in an extreme case (someone stupidly tries to send a 200MB image file) it can fill up the Exchange logs and take down the server in minutes. It's happened three times so far to oblivious users. I assume others have encountered this? Ideas? Any way to have Exchange not log these, or perhaps a client-side workaround?  - "the parameter is incorrect" error message Hi, I'm using Entourage 2004 Mac and have updated to latest service pack. Have setup imap mail on the exchange server and it seems to be working well except for the parameter is incorrect message coming up even though it seems to be downloading the mail.  - Straightening quotes For some reason, Edit>Auto Text Cleanup>Straighten Quotation Marks does nothing. The other functions (Remove/Increase Quoting, etc.) all work, but not Straighten Quotation Marks. Any guesses?  - Mac Entourage address book/Exchange server contacts list sync problem Work : PC running Windows Professional 2000 (?), Outlook client, with LAN connection to an Exchange email server network (sorry to butcher that). Macs: 1 desktop, two laptops, all at MacOS 10.3.8, Entourage v.X 10.1.4, connecting to work network through Cisco VPN client 4.0.2 (C). Problem: My lack of understanding how the syncing works has gotten me into a bit of trouble. I have lost the contacts list on the Exchange server, it seems. Description: When I would make changes to my contacts entries (mostly at work, but sometimes in the Entourage address book on the Macs), sometimes I would end up with duplicate entries, or one entry with old info and one with updated info. I never discerned a pattern as to how this would happen. My stunt occurred when I decided to try to clean up the contacts list. Thinking that the contacts list on the server was the primary database and the others were syncing to it, I edited the list live on the server using the work PC. Next, using one of the Macs offline (I think, this could be wrong...perhaps I was live on the network unknowingly), I deleted the contacts in Entourage. Then I brought the Mac online and connected to the Exchange server, figuring that the Mac would sync to the server and fill up its empty contact list with the edited list. That proved to be wrong. What I managed to end up with was an empty contacts list on the server. The good news is that the address book is still intact on two of the Macs. I need guidance from someone that knows what's really going on with this stuff, so I don't screw up and lose that data trying to fix my dilemma. Questions: How do I get the address book data from one of the Macs into the contact list on the Exchange server? (I see in Entourage where I can export Contacts into a "Contacts Export.txt" file. I'm at home now so I don't have the PC in front of me to look; does Outlook have an "Import Contacts" command that will allow me to bring this Contacts Export file in? Will the fields align properly? It appears that the Export.txt file is tab delimited.) I will be ever so grateful for your assistance.  - Major problem - no launch and no rebuild possible Hi there, helpers. My Entourage 2004 failed me completely. First I got error 16008 repeatedly, then I found out, that I cannot rebuild or compact the database. The process quit saying an i/o error had occurred. Then I tried to reinstall Office 2004, but then Entourage would not start at all any more, not even with a different (root) user. I am at a loss. It could be a hard disk problem, but I don't want to reformat my drive because I cannot copy the database (1.3 GB, years of mail) to a backup drive. The copying process aborts with the message: some sections could not be read. But my first problem is that I need to get Entourage launched. Can anyone help?  - Reducing Entourage Size I am having an error using Missing Sync to sync my Palm Tungsten T5 with my Mac's Entourage relating to the memory size. Is there a way to delete (after backing up!) calendar events that are older than 2 years? I have alot of calendar entries going back 4 years and don't need the info in the active database.  - exchange server (not connected) i am having a hard time connecting Entourage2004 to Exchange Server 2003. the account will not set up automatically, and then i try manually to set it up but it just shows "name of account (not connected)" in the mailboxes window. my boss is the PC expert and she swears that everything is setup correctly, but i don't have a way to double-check. i know outlook web access is working, because i can connect to it. i just installed a boatload of security updates for the server. it does not have any service packs installed yet, because my boss is wary of installing SP1 since it is so new i've never had any trouble setting up entourage 2004 with exchange before, so i don't know any tricks. any ideas? thanks bbbb Tag: Entourage 2004 Hotsync problem Tag: 52531

 - Sending Incomplete messages Hi I am an argentine user of entourage version 11.1.0 with mac os 10.3.5. I have a problem sending emails. I write a message in text format or html format (It is the same), and I send it to a friend with a copy for me but the message arrives incomplete in both sides. It appears that in the "source code" of the message, there is an "=" character with a dot that create an end of file, and also take off the files that I have attached. Always, there is a dot after a final word at the end of a long paragraph line, and a carriage return. This is the original message that I write: "Hi there, Nick, Prat, Below you will find a new (final?) version of the first script. We are now writting only this one, but it has 4 additional scenes to be shot. bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla,bla bla." It seems that the old one has a Windows NT server, and the new one has a UNIX server. I do not have this problem sending emails from the Mail program that comes with the same mac. In this case the emails arrive ok. Could you give me some advice about how to configure my entourage or some instructions to send to my new email server provider?  - Lost Entourage Viewing Windows I'm new to Entourage and was playing around trying to create and organize folders, create rules, etc. Somehow, I did something that removed all my viewing windows. I can open Entourage but have limited abilities in it. All icons are greyed out. If an email comes in I can open it from the little pop up window down in the lower screen but I can't delete it or do anything else with it. I can create new message but my keyboard is locked out of inserting any names in the "To" field. Again, all icons are greyed out and unusable. The same is true of the menu options.  - exchange and entourage I have tried to set up an exchange account in Entourage 2004 (OS X) but only the junk mail folder is displayed.. So I have no inbox, sent mail, drafts etc. Logging into the account appears to work. I have no problem with the account using Webmail on the Mac or Outlook on a pc.  - problem with large emails being left on server Hi All Very new to Entourage so apologies, one of our users travels alot so he sets his entourage to "only download first 500k of email" At the min there are 19 large emails left in his mail account. When he goes to "download all mail from server" it download the first 500k of them but if we delete them they stay on the server even though we have "delete mail from server when deleted from account" We don't want to download the full 19 emails if it can be helped.  - update message list? Hello, I am using Entourage 2004 (latest update), and OS X 10.3.9. My mail provider is Mailstreet.com, which hosts exchange mail. My ISP is Comcast. When I launch entourage, it checks my mails, synchronizes all folders, calendar, address book etc. It sends mail fine. It usually receives mail fine. but often when I launch the program, it'll connect to the server and update my message once, then do nothing. sometimes it will receive further messages as they come, but often it just sits there. If i want to be sure no new messages have arrived, I have to quit and relaunch to get it to synchronize again. Apple-L to "refresh" the message list doesn't work in entourage 2004. Is there any solution to this? It's such a great program, but this is a major flaw. Not only does it not constantly ping the exchange server to retrieve my new mail the instant it arrives at the server, but also there is no more easy workaround (Apple-L). thank you in advance for any information you can provide.  - Entourage doesn't work with Exchange 2003 Just upgraded our Exchange to 2003 version. All the Email clients (Outlooks 2000 and 2003) work just fine. However a user on OSX with Entourage and Mail can't connect to the Exchange server. Hitting Send and Receive doesn't produce any error messages and doesn't download any emails. All the settings are correct. Tried following an article that i've found on the internet which said to use ip address of the server instead of DNS name but that didn't help. Can ping exchange server successfully from the lap using either IP or FQDN and am able to access the internet. Any other ideas would be much appreicated.  - Can't delete email messages from Exchange server Mac OSX 10.3.x all latest downloads MS office for Mac 2004 Entourage all latest mdownloads Connect to Exchange Server at work for work emails. I am unable to flag a message to "delete from server at next connection" in any of the server mailboxes. The function works beacuse I also use POP accounts 'on my computer" for personal mail and when you do this a small red icon appears next to the server icon and it does what is says. If I move a message from the "server" inbox to a mailbox "on my computer" it still will not flag message or " delete from server at next connection". I would be grateful for any help. as I cannot see that there is a perference to set this. is this a function of the Exchange server software ? or a setting in the exchange server ?  - Advice/best sync conduit for Entourage? I could sure use some of you all's advice...I am frustrated by the significant limitations with Microsoft's Entourage X sync conduit. It isn't just that the categories in Datebk5 (a good 3rd party Palm calendar program) all turn to "None" in Entourage...but the fact that some portions of my addresses in the Palm just inadvertantly dissappear, causing me to lose important info without even realizing it. Also, when I edit or delete events on the Palm, after the sync they revert back to what Entourage had, which pretty much means I have to make all changes and deletions out of Entourage...NOT my palm! I am certainly open to other options, including the Entourage 2004 conduit or some 3rd party conduit, but I would rather decide based on all of your prior experience. What say you?  - can not print calendar despite removing templates I have been unable to print a calendar ever since I installed Entourage 2004. I have tried removing the calendar templates many times over to no avail, even though that seems to have worked for many here I can't find any other ideas. Running Entourage 11.1.1.1 now.  - Entourage 2004 Crashed - launches nothing more I'm not an IT person but have been using Entourage since v98. Now in Entourage 2004, running OS 10.2.8, it crashed and I can no longer access the Main Window or Preferences. I sent the error info off to Microsoft but certainly don't expect any feedback from them. The application launches but won't bring up the Main Window and I can only 'force quit' it. I've tried running the Remove Office utility and reinstalling but no joy. I subsequently installed the 11.1.0 and 11.1.1 updates but there's been no change. Oops, the message starts disappearing from the bottom up. I quickly closed that message without sending it, but not before the message has completely disappeared. And, of course now I¹m back to the main Entourage window. Immediately, everything in the In Box begins disappearing from the bottom up. So quickly that I could not close Entourage before every message in the In Box was gone. They¹re not in any other folder under ³On My Computer.² Can¹t find them anywhere. I closed Entourage, and restarted the computer. Opened Entourage, turned off notifications and rebuilt. The missing messages that were in the In Box are still gone. Oops, the message star= ts disappearing from the bottom up. I quickly closed that message without sending it, but not before the messag= e has completely disappeared. And, of course now I’m back to the main Entourage window. Immediately, everything in the In Box begins disappearing from the bottom u= p. So quickly that I could not close Entourage before every message in the In = Box was gone. They’re not in any other folder under “On My Computer.” C= an’t find them anywhere. I closed Entourage, and restarted the computer. Opened Entourage, turned off notifications and rebuilt. The missing messages that were in the In Box are still gone.  - This identity cannot be bopened with this version of entourage iBook laptop, 700 Mhz G3 10.3.5 Entourage 10.1 and a G4 400mhz 10.3.5 Entourage 10.1 Moved the User Data file from office G4 to laptap. Get error message when I try to open Entourage on laptap. In the past, I have moved the usa data file from my office computer to the laptop with no problem. Nothing has changed!  - Private/Hidden Records I just got a Zire 72 to replace a Zire 71 that died on me. With the 71, I was able to set it up so that hidden records would stay hidden on the desktop as well, but I can't seem to find that setting on the 72. Also, all of my hidden records have disppeared completely and I can't find them anywhere now. Are the lost forever??? I use hidden records for things like account info, as well as my personal journal. Is there another way to accomplish what I want that would be easier? Any help is greatly appreciated!  - Entourage 2004 Recurring Event on Saturday shows up on Sunday too When creating a full-day recurring event in E2004 that should appear every Saturday, the event also shows up on everyone Sunday.  - VPN problems connecting to Exchange server I cannot set up Entourage via my company's VPN. I get a message that my Exchange server is unavailable. Full detail is at the bottom of this message, but in summary my setup details: Mac: OSX 10.3.8 Entourage: Office 2004 VPN Client: Netlock Contivity (Nortel) Corporate network uses proxys for HTTP, HTTPS, etc Mac OSX Firewall: On. Ports 135 (Exchange) and 500 (Netlock) are open. IP address assigned by DSL modem and appearing in "Network" system preference panel: 220.236.xx.xx IP address Nortel Contivity Switch: 61.88.xx.xx IP address assigned to my Mac by Nortel Contivity Switch: 10.64.xx.xx IP address Exchange Server: 10.18.xx.xx Entourage Errors: Entourage error connecting to my Exchange server: -3260 Entourage error connecting to my Exchange server if I replace its name with its IP address: 114 (If I put my Exchange server IP address in my "proxy bypass" list in "Network" system preference panel: -3260) The curious thing is some aspects of the setup work. An LDAP server is found which works (I can look up people's names). It finds the Exchange server my account is assigned to (SOCNTE008) but it cannot connect to the server itself. Also if I enter a non-existent user ID I get an error that "the network you connected to doesn't recognise your name, password or domain. Check the settings and try again." So some server is being polled, and recognising what is and is not a valid user ID. I can use Apple Mail (IMAP) to read mail on socnte008.companyname.com.au, but clearly this does not offer me the full Entourage capabilities. Any clues as to what is going on with Entourage?  - entourage 2004 not opening Help... i?m running office 2004 on 10.3.9 i can?t entourage opens to a blank screen with the colour wheel, it is as if the program has frozen.  - Entourage 2004 'Inbox' and other issues Problems are recent-client is unsure if they existed prior to OS X 10.3.8 update. A large amount of old mail is saved in several 'named' folders and there were some 'rules' enabled but no criteria that appeared related to her complaints. #1: Received mail does not show up in the Inbox-it is immediately 'transferred' to Mail Views/Received Today folder? 'Inbox'on sidebar shows unread messages (1) but Inbox window shows "There are no messages in this folder that are both flagged and unread." #2: Messages 'stay' in their original location (e.g., Sent, Received Today or other folders) after being 'dragged' to a 'named' folder. A 'copy' does show up in the 'named' folder. These problems existed prior to the latest 'Office' update and the only 'difference noted' after the update was that some messages 'disappeared'from their location in the 'Received Since_' folder. Client wasn't sure but said that she had previously 'moved' some of those message to a 'saved' folder-while others 'disappeared' entirely after the update?  - Some message bodies lost during export (>Mail AND >Entourage I decided to export some of my many saved messages into Mail so that I can take advantage of Spotlight when Tiger comes out in the next few weeks. All went smoothly but I noticed that not all of the message bodies exported. These were originally on an IMAP account, which I suspect has something to do with it. In any case, I tried transferring this mailbox to the POP account and exporting. Same result. Drag to desktop, save as mbox; same results. Restore from backup database; same result! So, now it appears I lost a 1,000 messages or so. Any ideas. I already deleted the original mailbox from the IMAP server, which was obviously a big mistake. But I thought all had exported/imported properly. Thought, too, it might be a Mail issue; but now Entourage has the same issues as well. Thanks in advance.  - Missing emails I am using Entourage 2004 at work on Exchange and Windows 2003 server. The problem is that if any email has puncuation in the subect line (i.e. "&" or "... "or "+" etc) Entourage does not pick it up. I also note if I try opening the e-mail via WEBMAIL it opens up as "Page not available" Anybody have an idea what the problem is?  - Outlook XP to Entourage 2004: Problems with importing I have followed the steps recommended here and elsewhere about the exporting of e-mail formed in Outlook to Entourage. I have successfully converted the e-mail created in Outlook into the MBOX format and it has successfully migrated from the PC to the Mac.  - Applescript and Rules Hello, I am running os10.3.8 and entourage x. I have a few email accounts that are checked for new messages on a schedule (every 5 minutes). I created a rule that uses an applescript to speak the name of the account that any new mail arrives in. for example, if there is a new message (using pop server, not imap) on the server after the check mail script is run for account A, the rule is applied, the applescript is run, and the comnputer says "account A". The problem I am running into is in the situation when there is more than one new message for an account, the computer says "account A" "account A".... In the morning when I first check the email, there may be 20 messages and it just repeats and repeats. I only want the computer to say the account name once if there is new mail. If there a way that I can apply a rule to only the first message of each account? Perhaps I could create an applescript that checks the mail and tells me the number of new messages on each account? work. Then when I go to conduit settings and double-click on it,
nothing happens. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything, and I'm
stumped and frustrated. Anybody have any ideas.

Answered my own question, by searching better in Newsgroup. I
uninstalled Office X, by going to the Additional Tools folder in Office
2004.
