Is there any way to define the type of sort within the group listing - I am
having trouble keeping track of the names within the group - there is a
sort button, but the sort is by the email address. I would like to sort by
Last Name or Nickname or something that makes more sense than the email
address

I would like to thank you in advance for your help

Actually, if you have contacts in the group, it sorts by first name (which
is puzzling behavior in my opinion). I would send a feature request to
Microsoft asking them to change the sort to last name. In Entourage X, go
to Help -> Send Feedback on Entourage. Otherwise, click on this direct link
to enter Mac Product Feedback:

The workaround is to use Paul Berkowitz's free "Group Sort" script to sort
your group's entries by last name. It's available from ScriptBuilders @
MacScripter.

The script is extremely fast: if you're just doing one group at a time (for
example, if you have one group selected in the Address Book or open on the
screen, it can do just that one), it's just about as fast as clicking a
button. So I'd call it a "solution" rather than a "workaround" myself. ; -)
It can also sort ALL your groups in a matter of seconds without your having
to open them all and click buttons one by one - so that's even more of a
solution. (Opening 30 groups and clicking each one's Sort Correctly button
would feel more like a work-at-it to me.)

I'd been asking for proper group sorting for many years - first in Outlook
Express, then in Entourage. It seems to be a very low priority for them,
since they've never done it. I always figured they could just adapt the code
they use in the Address Book, but who knows? Anyway, I finally gave up
waiting and wrote the script.

Please "Reply To Newsgroup" to reply to this message. Emails will be
ignored.

PLEASE always state which version of Entourage you are using - 2001 or X.
It's often impossible to answer your questions otherwise.

Thanks, I used the script to move the names around, it worked and saved me
countless hours, I just made the switch from Eudora to Entourage and I was
beyond the point of "no return" I truly thank you and appreciate your
assistance. I hope to return the favor some day.

Thanks,

Bill Griffin
