I've been spending my morning synching Entourage with Exchange (my
company just upgraded from 5.5 SP4 to Exchange 2003). Using IMAP only
as before, it now allows me to respond to meeting requests. However,
today I did enable a full Exchange account in Entourage and it is
taking FOREVER to sync. I'm now up to almost 3 hours. During this
time, I cannot do much of anything (I now have Mail.app set up to
access my work account so I'm not out of luck!). Will the speed
improve, or will I always get the spinning ball? The reason I'm
concerned is that if I force-quit and relaunch Entourage as an offline
client, it still is very slow to respond if I do much of anything
offline. Never did this before until I enabled an Exchange account.
Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

When you first create an account and sync, it will definitely take a while
as all of the data on the server has to be downloaded into Entourage. Once
that's done, as long as you are connecting to the server regularly, there
should be fewer changes to sync each time you connect and it shouldn't take
as long. That's been my experience.

Thanks-working much better now. One question, however. I see that my
Entourage calendar has several duplicates (not unexpected) after
synchronization with Outlook. However, I'm not finding that anything
previously entered into my Entourage calendar made it into the Outlook
calendar. Is this to be expected? My concern is that anything I enter
on the Entourage side of the calendar will not get into the Outlook
calendar, which pretty much defeats the purpose of having an Exchange
client as opposed to IMAP. Thanks.
