 - Entourage without HTML-display Hello NG, I am new to the Mac and in my compay we use office:mac Here's my problem: I compose eMails just using text, I do not use HTML to compose Messages. But if someone writes me a mail that is formatted in HTML Entourage shows the formatted Mail. The only thing that I found so far is to not allow "Complex-HTML" (whatever that means). But even when I turn off complex-HTML Entourage shows HTML. I was used (using Outlook Express 6) to turn off the display of HTML-Mails completly. Even Lotus Notes (v.5.0.9a) shows the eMails without HTML-Formatting. And if I send an eMail formatted in HTML with Entourage it will always send the text-only-part, too. Please help me!  - Changing Identities I'm running OS X 10.2.6 and use Word and Excel. I can't change identities while running Microsoft apps. Seems kind of ridiculous.  - Time/Date Issues with OSX and ENT More on the time/date shaggy-dog problem. Based on the tips provided I managed to get my time synced with the time.apple.com server. I had the little box checked to use this option and everthing was working okay until my ISP dropped the dialup connection. Like the bumper sticker says, it happens. Mac OSX does not really warn you when the connection has been disconnected and the time/date thing went crazy when it lost sync. The date on this G4-450 went to December 1969 and that did crazy things to my Entourage email. I had to changed back to setting the clock myself. BTW, I did check the battery in the G4 and the voltage looks good. Sure would be nice if Mac OSX or Entourage would let you know the connection is broken.  - Entourage - Error code 4362 - Mac OS X I tried to send a file a little bigger than 5 MB. It did'nt work, error code 4362 appeared. I tried to put the e-mail in the trash, and then delete it in the deleted items folder. It didn't work. In the "Folder" colomn, 1 item appears in the deleted item folder "deleted item(1)". When clicking on that folder, there is no e-mail appearing in the right side box. Where is it ??? I tried to restart the Mac, and when opening Entourage, following message appears : The action could not be completed. An unknown error (4362) arrived. I can not send or receive e-mails anymore. The Internet browser works, so it has nothing to do with the connection. Should I reinstall Entourage ? Or what is the solution ? Thanks for any advise !!!  - Address Book Subfolders? I am a recent Windows convert, running eMac w/OSX 10.2.6 and the latest version of Entourage (updates and patches applied, not sure of the rev level, sending this from work). In Outlook XP, you can create contact subfolders...in my Outlook config I had 7 contact subfolders, with a total of about 300+ contacts. I realize in Entourage I can create "views" to filter/sort my contacts by category and other criteria, so thats no problem, but what I want is when I create a new message and hit the address book button to be able to tell it which "view" to use. As it stands now, it shows ALL the contacts and I have to sift through 300 of them to find the right names.  - More holidays than you can poke a stick at... This is really weird. I have Entourage (Exchange Version) creating thousands of holidays for me! I synchronise with a Palm V, I have the latest Entourage Conduit, I have deleted all the extra holidays on multiple occasions and yet the damn things keep on being recreated! I tried to delete the events while I was offline (at home, finding them all then deleting them in large batches). However, when I came back to the office and it apparently synchronises with the Exchange Server, the rotten things have been created again!!!! So once again (@#$%^) I have done a Find for all Calendar events, sorted by Date, then selected all the multiples and deleted them in a number of massive batches. This time I have done this while on the network connected to the Exchange Server. I wait with some trepidation for what will happen tomorrow when I open Entourage...  - Can't add word to spelling dictionary About half the time, when I invoke the spell checker in an email=20 document, it will not allow me to add a word to my spelling dictionary. = The "Add" button will be grayed out. Other times, it works just fine. = I=20 just installed it and I have not modified any of the settings, so there=20 should be no problem there. For example, one time it will remember=20 that my last name is spelled correctly, since I added it once, when it=20 was working correctly.  - Can't create hyperlink in outgoing e-mail message I have a G4 Powerbook with a full copy of MS Office Professional running and use Entourage for my e-mail. I've tried to include hyperlinks in my out going mail but am told I can't unless I have Internet Explorer loaded as my primary browser . I do have Explorer loaded and it is my primary browser. I've tried creating the text body in word with hyperlinks (that works fine) and then pasting the text w/ links into the outgoing mail. However, the link still shows up just as text.  - Entourage is working. We fimnally discovered our issue. On the exchange server IIS interface. Make sure in properties of the default web site, on the Web Site tab, "HTTP keep-alives enabled" is checked. Once this was done all my entourage clients free/busy info updated and can schedule appointments seeing user data on exchange. All systems are now working....  - Entourage Identities and mail I have Entourage 10.1.4 and use OS 10.2.6. When I log on as myself (the main user) I am able to see not only all my messages, but when we switch identities, we are able to see all the mail sent and received for the other person. When logged on as the second user however, switching identities exposes only some mail, for them and myself. I thought we would have access to all mail sent and received on this machine. NO?  - Update OS 9.0.4 to OS(X what will I have to do with my ENTOURAGE I am planning to change my HD in my nice little old iBook to a huger HD (min 60 MB) and update my OS form 9.0.4 to the latest release of OS/X.  - Entourage conduit problems I've installed Palm Desktop 4.0, Missing Sync, and a Microsoft Handheld Sync conduit in an attempt to get my Tibook (os 10.2.6) to sync with my Sony Clie S360. Everything works great except for the address book. Even when I tell the Tibook to overwrite the handheld, it only transfers over one contact (a seemingly random one at that).  - Losing links between IMAP and local mail It seems that Entourage loses any links (i.e. contact > mail) when messages are moved from IMAP folders to local folders. Any suggestion on how to preserve the existing links and maybe an idea as to why they that happens in the first place?  - Entourage and Hotmail problems I have a Hotmail account, and a POP account. I have Entourage setup to receive both my POP account mail, and my Hotmail messages. The messages from my POP account are received in the Inbox "On My Computer". There is a separate inbox for my Hotmail account. For some reason beginning yesterday, the messages that are addressed to my Hotmail account are appearing in the Inbox on my POP mail account.  - Palm crashed, and now won't Hotsync properly! My handheld Palm m100 recently crashed and lost all its data, so I hotsynced to download the data from my Mac to the PDA again. After a very long hotsync (20 minutes), I discovered that all of the data from my desktop had downloaded to my PDA ....EXCEPT that it was stuck in time in February 2003 (six months ago)! All of my dates, addresses, etc. entered in the past six months were absent from my handheld (but still existing on the desktop). Important note: It was just six months ago that I switched from using the Palm Desktop software to MS Entourage for my desktop calendar/address book, and I've been using the Entourage conduit to transfer data ever since. I presume that somehow the hotsync is now downloading data from my old Palm data file instead of my up-to-date Entourage app. Anybody know why it's doing that?  - Cannot send attachments using Entourage 2001 or OE 5.0.2 I have a client with a 500MHz iBook, 384MB RAM, running Mac OS 9.1, using Comcast Cable as his ISP. Since several days ago, he cannot reliably send attachments over 20K using his preferred email client, Entourage 2001. Anything larger than that gets transmitted part way then just stops, with no error message ever apearing. The type of attachment has no effect, nor does the type of encoding used, and it's variable how much of the attachment gets sent. Entourage doesn't freeze - he's able to quit, but that takes quite some time. (He told me it can be upwards of half an hour). Things I've done: - Ran Disk Warrior 2.1 and Norton Disk Doctor 6. - Installed the Office 2001 Service Release 1. - Changed his smtp server from mail.attbi.com to smtp.comcast.net (which is a change that was supposed to have been made at the end of June). - Reinstalled Office 2001 and SR 1 after deleting the old version _and_ all extensions with Microsoft in the name. - Backed up his Microsoft Identities folder and set up his account from scratch. Needless to say, all of this had no effect on the problem, else I wouldn't be posting. Since he already also had Outlook Express 5.0.2 installed, I tried that and encountered the same problem. I also installed Eudora, for comparison, and had no problems at all sending attachments with that, nor were there any problems using Netscape. Comcast has told him there are no problems at their end, and I believe the result with Eudora and Netscape bear that out. He also has had no problems sending attachments using Comcast's web mail, which has been his workaround so far. Obviously, one solution would be for him to switch to Eudora (for example), but for now he's bent on continuing to use Entourage 2001, and I'm out of things to try.  - Entourage Won't Quit or is slow to quit Since applying the latest office update, my entourage will not quit or takes a minute plus to quit if it does. I am using mac os 10.2.6, entourage 10.1.4 and don't have a very big mail file (15mb). I have tried rebuilding the database and re-installing a nnew copy of the updater software but no luck. This script is similar to the new version of Other Account X 2.0: you specify recipients designated for a non-default signature by simply assigning them a category of the same name as the signature. And you can have as many different "other" non-default signature/contacts and groups as you wish. The script works with news messages to specified news groups as well as mail messages to specified contacts and groups. Other Account X 2.0 This script, when attached to a repeating schedule, will automatically change the account of a new outgoing message to a non-default account for specified recipients before it¹s sent. Since clicking ³New² in the toolbar, or ³New Mail Message² in the Message Menu, or pressing cmd-N all bring up a new draft window preset to emanate from your default account, you may often find that you¹ve sent a message from the wrong account to certain recipients. This script will send from the account you want. v2.0 has been completely re-written. You now specify recipients designated for a non-default account by assigning them a category of the same name as the account rather than having to drag them to a group. And you can set up as many different "other" non-default account/contacts and groups as you wish. SMTP Location X 2.1 SMTP Location X sets the SMTP server for any or all of your mail accounts for each location in both Entourage X and in Entourage 2001 in OS X.  - Entourage 10.1.4 crash (combined with Explorer 5.2.3 crashes) : what I am one of the readers of the threads about Entourage crashing while attempting to read "complex HTML" e-mails (starting Aug. 8, rebounding Aug. 14 with DavidG re-having problems... ) and who still hasn't got any solution (my Explorer 5.2.3 crashes also under a new user session, deleting Internet Preferences doesn't change anything). Does anybody know what the HD/System/Library/PrivateFrameWork/ HTMLDisplay.framework/Versions/A/Resources/ Explorer.clr is ?  - Extracting Binaries? Probably been asked before, but I can't find an answer, so I ask - Is there a way to extract binaries from newsgroups within Entourage? Other than getting the text file and using Binhex and such. Too much hassle. With hogwasher, it automatically puts all pieces together for you and then you can save it.  - Rebuild database script Since I can't exceed 12 MB in Entourage's database I've written 2 scripts that help me automate the purging: http://homepage.mac.com/gnarlodious/EntourageCompactDatabase.sit I have a schedule run once a week to compact, and the second script to delete the old databases could theoretically be scheduled also for totally automated purging. These 2 scripts can go in Entourage's Script menu. Just bear in mind that if you are running Entourage prior to 10.1.4 you will need to uncomment 3 lines in the Rebuild script, which is needed to forcequit the Office Database.  - Tasks from Exchange Hello all. I have got the mail and calendar to function under Entourage thanks to this newsgroup, but I am still having troubles with the Tasks. I can view it as a list under the folder Tasks, yet when I click the Entourage Tasks, none of my Exchange tasks show up on it. Is there another setting I am missing to get the Tasks to work? As a new Mac user & using Entourage for email, I've been struggling
with how to format the contacts in the Adress book to show the Surname
first, followed by the 'Christian' name. In most other email programs,
there is generally a simple option to check to chose Surname first or
last. Unable to find the trick in Entourage. Any easy solutions?

There is a trick, but it is neither simple nor elegant. Because Entourage
sorts by last name, I'm fine with the way it is now, but I understand why
lots of people prefer it the other way. Here's a workaround:
