 - Recurring event on last weekday of month appears daily I am trying to put a recurring event (have tried all-day, and timed - result the same) to occur on the last weekday of every month. (with an ending date). This is in Entourage 2004. The event box accepts this, and the correct description of the situation shows up in the dialogue box. But when I click the save button in the box, the event shows up daily. (At this point, the dialogue box still has the correct repetition description). Then if I close the dialogue box for the event, and re-open it, the description of the recurrance now says, "occurs daily until..." I have rebuilt my database. Any suggestions about this?  - Entourage 2004 & Exchange Anyone know how to get this going? I can't seem to get it to sync all = of my=20 exchange mail. I've given all the information i believe is required and = on=20 one occasion I managed to get it to sync all of my folders, it just left = them=20 empty! Any help would be appreciated.  - export/import messages in OE5/Entourage X - where's the logic? I'm hoping one of the "gurus' who haunt these groups might be able to enlighten me about the logic, or lack thereof, in attempting to get email messages out of one version of Microsoft's "wonderful" email client and into another. Specifically, I'm having a problem with my G4/733/os9.2.2 and Comcast cable internet...I think they're on to me that I've got more than one computer hooked up thru a switch, and they've put the kabosh on the G4's NIC. I'm rectifying that situation soon...but for the short term, I'd like to be able to export my email messages out of that computer, which is using Outlook Express 5.02, and into my iMac 233/os10.3, which is running OfficeX:Entourage. first thing I notice is the folder structure is different. In OE, each user (or "identity") has a seperate folder contained in the "identities" folder, and each has a "messages" database contained within. However, in Entourage, the folder "Main Identity" contains the only message database; each individual is contained in the "OfficeX Identities" folder, but this folder does not contain any message databases. alright, so much for my dissertation on the always-fun folder structure of MS's email product. To cut to the chase, why isn't there an "export messages" command in OE? Or, failing that, why can't Entourage figure out that, when using the "import" command, that the Outlook Express 5 stuff that you want to import might not be on the computer you're using, but rather on another computer on the network? Generally, when you ask an app to import, insert or attach a file/folder, you go into a "browse" dialog where you can tell the app where and what to import...not so in Entourage-land! So how do I do this? A nice user named Chris R had a solution he used to get Entourage/Mac messages out to his Outlook/Windows machine, using an intermediary IMAP server. The problem for me with this solution is: 1) I have no idea what an IMAP server is. 2) I want a solution that's simple enough that my wife (who can't believe that something as simple as copying messages into another email client can be THIS HARD) can do it. I don't think bouncing stuff to intemediaries is simple enough. Finally, if I haven't already exhausted your patience, a little theoretical musing would be appreciated. What's the logic behind all this - why's it so hard just to copy a few email messages from one version of a program to another? Any help would be appreciated. Tag: Entourage v.x Tag: 38037

 - Deleting mail? I just switched from entourage X to 2004 and I have started accumulating "ghost" messages. Some are junk mail and others are from a list-serve that I subscribe to. When I hit delete, the message is not crossed out, and the cursor goes to the next message. These messages end up getting deleted from my IMAP server, but they still appear in my entourage inbox and I can't figure out any way to get rid of them (I've even tried dragging them to the trash and that just copies the message). Restarting the program and the computer does nothing to alleviate the problem either. I've only used the program for two days and I have three messages that I can't get rid of.  - Root Security Certificate I am running Entourage 2004, having upgraded from Entourage X, interfacing with an Exchange 2003 server. When I access the account all works well except I am reminded on login that I do not have my root certificate installed. I had it fine when X was running. I have to go to a webmail server to install the certificate using Explorer 5.2 for OSX.  - Word 2004 Docs - can not attach to email Hi - I just installed 2004 on OS 10.3.3. I can not attach anything to an email that is created with Word 2004 - no doc, rtf, txt - anything. I can attach Word files made with Word X . I can attach txt files made with other apps.  - Network Timeout I have noticed an interesting phenomenon in Entourage 2004 that _may_ explain some of the problems that I've read about on the newsgroup. Specifically, I was having problems sending email (Error 111), especially with larger messages. I also got the "(not connected)" text next to my Exchange account for long periods of time. There was also other odd behavior, such as new messages not showing up right away and sent messages not showing up in the Sent Messages folder for hours at a time. All this occurred while I was connected to our network with a wireless (802.11g) connection. When I connected directly with a wired 100 Mbps Ethernet connection, the problems suddenly went away. I have to wonder if some of these problems are bandwidth or latency related? It would sure explain my experience Overall the new Entourage 2004 is a nice piece of Mac software!  - Changing the default charset for composing messages Hi all, Among the users in countries with non-western European alphabets, there is a definite need to be able to set the default character set of the new messages to the correct value for their language. AFAIK, Entourage 2004 offers only a per-message manual option of making that change. Is there a way to include the feature (of setting a default charset in the Preferences or Account Settings) in a future patch? In the meanwhile, is it possible to publish a plain text entry with the appropriate values that can be included in the plist files for Entourage 2004?  - Entrourage 2004 Occasionally in Entourage when the exchange server does not respond, the message gets copied into the local Outbox folder, ie (Folders on My Computer ->Outbox).  - Scipting "Due Date" and "Reminder" Checkboxes in Task Hi, I am a big user of "Tasks", but mainly as "reminders". "Due dates" are annoying. (Ask my boss!) So, I'd like an AppleScript to create tasks with the "Due date" unchecked, so, for instance, it won't annoy me by saying that I've entered a reminder which is after the due date. But in the Entourage's AppleScript dictionary for the "task" class, there are no properties for the "Due date" and "Reminder" checkbox. There is a boolean property for "Completed". Why not for "Due date" and "Reminder"? Do I have some conceptual misunderstanding, or should I file a bug report? I'm using Word v. X. Is this, by any chance, fixed in Word 2004?  - Duplicate entries in Sent Items Hi, I'm using Entourage 2004 with my IMAP server. When I check my Sent Items folder, the last several messages are duplicated.  - Entourage 2004 not sending Since installing E-2004 I have had problems sending e-mail from accounts with a dot in the username (e.g. "first.last@charter.net"). After extensive time on the phone with my ISP (Charter), they swear it isn't them. I have tried shutting off my Mac Firewall protection, turned off all Junk mail filters in Entourage, rebuilt Entourage, trashed the Entourage Preferences, and deleted all of the Accounts and re-entered from scratch.  - Switch to entourage from apple programs, syncing with Palm, I have just upgraded my office version to 2004 from X. I have been using Apple (mail, address book, and ical) and syncing them (desktop and portable) with .Mac and the Sync program. I not only neet to sync my data, but would like to share calendar information among my family members (wife and kids) who are connected on an ethernet network. To add to the complexity, my wife has been keeping her calendar on a Palm Handheld, using palm software, and palm desktop on the Mac. Thanks to this group, I have discovered how to migrate data from Mail and Address Book, but have learned that iCal is a problem. 1) Can anyone suggest the best method, if any, to get this group all synced up? Can it be done with isync? 2) Would I be better off using the Apple Software and letting entourage sit unused (I admit that the project function is tempting, but is the balance of entourage sufficiently superior to Apple to make a changeover desirable? I have the following problem: Entourage 2004 does not recognize "option delete" to delete the word immediately to the left of the cursor. It simply backspaces.  - Syncing Entourage with Palm Desktop? Has anyone written a sync program to sync Entourage with Palm Dekstop? One way of getting around the lacking Tungsten T3 (and Datebook category support) in the Entourage conduit could be based on Palm Desktop doing the actual Handheld sync, and then have an AppleScript that synced Palm Desktop with Entourage.  - Entourage printing error Good day, I hope someone can help with a printing problem with Entourage I've discovered. We have an HP LaserJet 5000n printer which is shared among 15 or so Macs. All of the Macs are running OS X 10.3.3 with all of the updates. I can print to that printer just fine with any application other than Entourage. However, whenever I print using Entourage, the printer shows the following error message: 79.00 FE Printer Error HP's Web site reveals this to be a general printing error. During my tests, I could only get this error message to come up when I printed an Entourage document. If I copy and paste the message contents into another document, I can print just fine. Anyone had this problem, and if so, what was the solution? I've updated the printer driver, repaired permissions, run DiskWarrior and zapped PRAM and so far nothing's worked.  - Entourage and university popmail server: problems connecting I hope that someone can help me. This should be one of the absolute=20 easiest things to deal with. Simply tell the program that it's a POP server, type in my accountID,=20 incoming server popmail.myUniversity.edu, outgoing mail=20 smtp.myUniversity.edu, send and receive mail, type a password, and...I=20 should have mail. I just bought a new Powerbook G4 12", got Office 2004 this last week and = loaded it up, set up Entourage with my normal e-mail settings as = outlined=20 above, which work everywhere else, but with no exception, I get this=20 message: "Connection to the server failed or was dropped" Error: -17895 If I delete this and try using the assistant, and go through to the = "Verify"=20 button, it fails when I try to verify the connection, and the associated = help=20 for Entourage seems to lead to a page about not being able to = authenticate=20 because I need a root certificate...but my popmail server is not using = SSL,=20 and the advanced incoming and outgoing settings do not have the SSL box=20 checked. During the verification process, the screen also mentions=20 something like: "Trying to connect securely to incoming server". Is = there=20 some other setting outside of the Entourage program but within the = Office=20 2004 suite which would be telling the program to require secure=20 communication with the popmail server? I've installed Entourage on two mac's and they can recieve
e-mail from the exchange server with no problem. However,
they can not send e-mail. I get a -3260 error telling me
that e-mail can not be sent through the exchange account.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

Be sure you have an SMTP server available that you can use. 3260 means the
address is entered wrong, the server cannot be found, you have networking
problems, the server is configured wrong, or the server does not support
SMTP.

Alternately, upgrade to 2004, which uses DAV to send rather than SMTP.
