 - More holidays than you can poke a stick at... This is really weird. I have Entourage (Exchange Version) creating thousands of holidays for me! I synchronise with a Palm V, I have the latest Entourage Conduit, I have deleted all the extra holidays on multiple occasions and yet the damn things keep on being recreated! I tried to delete the events while I was offline (at home, finding them all then deleting them in large batches). However, when I came back to the office and it apparently synchronises with the Exchange Server, the rotten things have been created again!!!! So once again (@#$%^) I have done a Find for all Calendar events, sorted by Date, then selected all the multiples and deleted them in a number of massive batches. This time I have done this while on the network connected to the Exchange Server. I wait with some trepidation for what will happen tomorrow when I open Entourage...  - Can't add word to spelling dictionary About half the time, when I invoke the spell checker in an email=20 document, it will not allow me to add a word to my spelling dictionary. = The "Add" button will be grayed out. Other times, it works just fine. = I=20 just installed it and I have not modified any of the settings, so there=20 should be no problem there. For example, one time it will remember=20 that my last name is spelled correctly, since I added it once, when it=20 was working correctly.  - Can't create hyperlink in outgoing e-mail message I have a G4 Powerbook with a full copy of MS Office Professional running and use Entourage for my e-mail. I've tried to include hyperlinks in my out going mail but am told I can't unless I have Internet Explorer loaded as my primary browser . I do have Explorer loaded and it is my primary browser. I've tried creating the text body in word with hyperlinks (that works fine) and then pasting the text w/ links into the outgoing mail. However, the link still shows up just as text.  - Entourage is working. We fimnally discovered our issue. On the exchange server IIS interface. Make sure in properties of the default web site, on the Web Site tab, "HTTP keep-alives enabled" is checked. Once this was done all my entourage clients free/busy info updated and can schedule appointments seeing user data on exchange. All systems are now working.... Tag: Entourage X for Mac Tag: 27045

 - Entourage Identities and mail I have Entourage 10.1.4 and use OS 10.2.6. When I log on as myself (the main user) I am able to see not only all my messages, but when we switch identities, we are able to see all the mail sent and received for the other person. When logged on as the second user however, switching identities exposes only some mail, for them and myself. I thought we would have access to all mail sent and received on this machine. NO?  - Update OS 9.0.4 to OS(X what will I have to do with my ENTOURAGE I am planning to change my HD in my nice little old iBook to a huger HD (min 60 MB) and update my OS form 9.0.4 to the latest release of OS/X. As I plan to upgrade to Office / X as well my question.  - Entourage conduit problems I've installed Palm Desktop 4.0, Missing Sync, and a Microsoft Handheld Sync conduit in an attempt to get my Tibook (os 10.2.6) to sync with my Sony Clie S360. Everything works great except for the address book. Even when I tell the Tibook to overwrite the handheld, it only transfers over one contact (a seemingly random one at that).  - Losing links between IMAP and local mail It seems that Entourage loses any links (i.e. contact > mail) when messages are moved from IMAP folders to local folders. Any suggestion on how to preserve the existing links and maybe an idea as to why they that happens in the first place?  - Entourage and Hotmail problems I have a Hotmail account, and a POP account. I have Entourage setup to receive both my POP account mail, and my Hotmail messages. The messages from my POP account are received in the Inbox "On My Computer". There is a separate inbox for my Hotmail account. For some reason beginning yesterday, the messages that are addressed to my Hotmail account are appearing in the Inbox on my POP mail account.  - Palm crashed, and now won't Hotsync properly! My handheld Palm m100 recently crashed and lost all its data, so I hotsynced to download the data from my Mac to the PDA again. After a very long hotsync (20 minutes), I discovered that all of the data from my desktop had downloaded to my PDA ....EXCEPT that it was stuck in time in February 2003 (six months ago)! All of my dates, addresses, etc. entered in the past six months were absent from my handheld (but still existing on the desktop). Important note: It was just six months ago that I switched from using the Palm Desktop software to MS Entourage for my desktop calendar/address book, and I've been using the Entourage conduit to transfer data ever since. I presume that somehow the hotsync is now downloading data from my old Palm data file instead of my up-to-date Entourage app. Anybody know why it's doing that?  - Cannot send attachments using Entourage 2001 or OE 5.0.2 I have a client with a 500MHz iBook, 384MB RAM, running Mac OS 9.1, using Comcast Cable as his ISP. Since several days ago, he cannot reliably send attachments over 20K using his preferred email client, Entourage 2001. Anything larger than that gets transmitted part way then just stops, with no error message ever apearing. The type of attachment has no effect, nor does the type of encoding used, and it's variable how much of the attachment gets sent. Entourage doesn't freeze - he's able to quit, but that takes quite some time. (He told me it can be upwards of half an hour). Things I've done: - Ran Disk Warrior 2.1 and Norton Disk Doctor 6. - Installed the Office 2001 Service Release 1. - Changed his smtp server from mail.attbi.com to smtp.comcast.net (which is a change that was supposed to have been made at the end of June). - Reinstalled Office 2001 and SR 1 after deleting the old version _and_ all extensions with Microsoft in the name. - Backed up his Microsoft Identities folder and set up his account from scratch. Needless to say, all of this had no effect on the problem, else I wouldn't be posting. Since he already also had Outlook Express 5.0.2 installed, I tried that and encountered the same problem. I also installed Eudora, for comparison, and had no problems at all sending attachments with that, nor were there any problems using Netscape. Comcast has told him there are no problems at their end, and I believe the result with Eudora and Netscape bear that out. He also has had no problems sending attachments using Comcast's web mail, which has been his workaround so far. Obviously, one solution would be for him to switch to Eudora (for example), but for now he's bent on continuing to use Entourage 2001, and I'm out of things to try.  - Entourage Won't Quit or is slow to quit Since applying the latest office update, my entourage will not quit or takes a minute plus to quit if it does. I am using mac os 10.2.6, entourage 10.1.4 and don't have a very big mail file (15mb). I have tried rebuilding the database and re-installing a nnew copy of the updater software but no luck.  - Entourage 10.1.4 crash (combined with Explorer 5.2.3 crashes) : what I am one of the readers of the threads about Entourage crashing while attempting to read "complex HTML" e-mails (starting Aug. 8, rebounding Aug. 14 with DavidG re-having problems... ) and who still hasn't got any solution (my Explorer 5.2.3 crashes also under a new user session, deleting Internet Preferences doesn't change anything). Does anybody know what the HD/System/Library/PrivateFrameWork/ HTMLDisplay.framework/Versions/A/Resources/ Explorer.clr is ?  - Extracting Binaries? Probably been asked before, but I can't find an answer, so I ask - Is there a way to extract binaries from newsgroups within Entourage? Other than getting the text file and using Binhex and such. Too much hassle. With hogwasher, it automatically puts all pieces together for you and then you can save it.  - Rebuild database script Since I can't exceed 12 MB in Entourage's database I've written 2 scripts that help me automate the purging: http://homepage.mac.com/gnarlodious/EntourageCompactDatabase.sit I have a schedule run once a week to compact, and the second script to delete the old databases could theoretically be scheduled also for totally automated purging. These 2 scripts can go in Entourage's Script menu. Just bear in mind that if you are running Entourage prior to 10.1.4 you will need to uncomment 3 lines in the Rebuild script, which is needed to forcequit the Office Database.  - Tasks from Exchange Hello all. I have got the mail and calendar to function under Entourage thanks to this newsgroup, but I am still having troubles with the Tasks. I can view it as a list under the folder Tasks, yet when I click the Entourage Tasks, none of my Exchange tasks show up on it. Is there another setting I am missing to get the Tasks to work?  - Two Rules one one message Hi everyone, I have been using SpamSeive and loving it. However, I was having problems with setting up a rule for it. I set up the rule and it was moving everything that the script looked at into a junk mail folder. I have changed the rule so that it now says 'mark it if it is spam" and i want to use another rule to say 'if spam, move to folder' However, there is a greyed out line in the rules which states do not apply other rules to this message if criteria has been met.  - Hot sync I have upgraded to Office X and am considering moving from Palm Desktop to Entourage. I have successfully hot sync?ed, but see no hot sync menu items in Entourage, for instance for changing conduit settings or installing hand-held files. The only work around seems to be going back to opening the Palm Desktop application. Am I missing the controls in Entourage or is this an omission in the programme?  - several problems/questions with Entourage I have the Entourage that came with Office 2001. Recently, when I open it, several old and already-sent emails appear as if they want to be sent for the first time. Each time I delete them. But then the next time I open Entourage, there they are again, so I delete them all over again. How do I get rid of them permanently? Another question -- When I send a new email and click on the Inbox and then New, and start to put in a name, say one that starts with "A", then all the "A" addresses show up. But I know they're supposed to. However, many that show up here are very old addresses and names and ones I don't want to appear any longer. They're NOT in my address book. They appear, I suppose, just because they're addresses I've used before. But I want to eliminate some of them and have no idea how to do that. Can anyone tell me how?  - Reference Accounts and Exchange 2000 Hi, We are in the process of moving from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 and are encountering the following issue with IMAP access: Many of our departments have general mail accounts, which my admin refers to as "reference accounts". To access these from Entourage, I enter the account name in this format: domain\myaccountname\referenceaccount When such an account is on the Exchange 5.5 server, it works fine. On the Exchange 2000 server, Entourage sees only the public folders, or none at all. The normal Inbox, Outbox, etc. folders do not appear in the folder list. Clicking update list shows a login in the progress window but nothing else happens. This happens in 10.1.2 and 10.1.4. BTW this behavior happens in Outlook Express for PC as well. Can anyone help?  - Why even bother with this release??? - An Important Notice I hate to be the one to say it, although I'm sure all of you out there spending your entire day trying to figure out why Microsoft would bother releasing this so called "update" and why your network doesn't seem to work correctly with it, have been saying it (or thinking it) over and over again. We need real solutions. Here's Microsoft charging an arm and a leg for their office suite of products and a ton of money for their Exchange server and yet we mac admins and users can't use them together. Why? The answer seems to be quite simple. If it only runs on Windows then Microsoft will sell more computers running windows and keep apple and the mac os lagging behind in the business world. It is interesting to see that in Japan a computer with both windows and office installed costs just $36 for the software license. Why you ask? Well, the answer again is simple. The Japanese switched to Linux for the most part and Microsoft was losing their shirt and so the license fees came down dramatically. COME ON MICROSOFT. STOP DOING SOME HALF-ASSED JOB THAT YOU PAT YOURSELVES ON THE BACK FOR FINISHING UP. WHY NOT JUST DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND MAKE YOUR USERS HAPPY. The mac community out there needs to get a huge petition going to make things happen. We need to somehow make Microsoft understand that we will still buy their products, and all we ask is something very simple. They do what they are supposed to do and they do it well. This is true of multiple servers, not just the one associated with my ISP. All of them ping using Network utility. I tried calling Microsoft and they told me they don't offer that kind of "support". They were pretty rude. I just paid for this upgrade and it pretty much blows. I also downloaded the tcpflow thing, hoping that it would tell me something or I'd be able to talk to someone at Microsoft about it. I didn't understand the text files it created.  - Error 23012 on Entourage X 10.1.4 trying to connect to Exchange 2000 Ok, I appologize if this has been answered already but after spending 3 hours reading these post I haven't been able to find it. I have a mixed environment: 1 Windows 2000 server running Exchange 2000 (1 domain) 12 PCs runnig Windows XP 7 Macs running OS X 10.2.5 with Office X 10.1.4 Prior to today I had 4 Macs running Entourage through IMAP prior to the 10.1.4/Exchange patch. The other three were using Outlook 2001. I fully updated the Office X to 10.1.4 on the 4 machines on Entourage and everything set up easily to utilize the Exchange features. The three remaining machines (the ones on Outlook 2001) had to wait until today when I received in the new Office X software. I installed the new software and upgraded each one to 10.1.4 and installed the Palm-sync patch. Following the same process and comparing it to the many posted on this site for configuring the exchange account, I am unable to get any of the 3 new ones to connect to the server. I receive the following error.... "An error occurred on the IMAP server." "A connection failure has occurred." "Error: -23012" I am completely confused as to why I have 4 properly functioning Mac's running the fully updated version of Office X and Entourage X but I am unable to get the three new ones to connect. I have verified all of my settings within System Preferences/Network and Entourage. Nothing seems to make a difference. From having 4 up and running, I am assuming that all the necessary settings and services are running on the server. I have verified the usernames, passwords, IP addresses, domain name, and everything else that I am able to think of. Any thoughts at all would be outstanding.  - Cannot send group messages. Sorry for the earlier error when I sent a blank message. Anyway, when I try to send e-mail to groups I created in Entourage I=20 will get the following message and, as best I can tell, no one receives=20 what I send. The error message is "A message in your Outbox could not=20 be sent using account "Siscom". The server did not recogniZe the=20 recipients or the server refuses to allow you to send mail. Explanation: = sorry no mailbox here by that name (#5.1.1 - chkusr)" Then "Error=20 5505 Siscom, my IP, says just one incorrect address will cause that error.=20 How do you work around this when it does not tell you which address=20 is incorrect? My first attempt was to a group of 93 people and then to=20 22 people all to no avail. I was successful to a group of 3 people. I have a second problem I found while trying to write this message on=20 this web site. If I type the lowercase "Z" I will get a popup that says=20 "JavaScript. This window is not resiZable!"  - Sudden Unexplained Change in Connection Out of the blue I am now getting an alert message every time I send or receive mail in Entourage - - despite already being connected to the 'net. It is: Do you want to connect to the Internet to complete this action? Choices are : Work Online, Cancel, Connect. I have checked Entourage's General and Mail & News Preferences to see if there is a box to check to deactivate this but can find nothing.  - entourage "unexpectedly quit" due to non-display of messages in inbox subfoler entourage "unexpectedly quits" due to non-display of messages in inbox subfoler some messages in inbox subfolder (ie thirty messages in a row from yesterday) display as a blank gray block in folder view. Messages before and after the blank area appear OK. The number of messages that appear as blank sometime vary (as many as thirty in a row as little as five in a row in the same subfolder) on clicking the message line in the blank area the message line item either appears and the message is readable or it immediately causes Entourage to "unexpectedly quit" or throws an "unable to read" error then quits. I have found no pattern to what causes the crash ... sometime a click on a message is readable, sometime a click on the same message causes Entourage to crash. This occurs with the preview pane active and not active. This issue has occured over two days in two inbox subfolders that are set up (using Rules) for two different e-mail accounts from two different e-mail providers. I am using Entourage 10.1.4 on Mac OS X 10.2.6 I have my mail receive setting set to download mail to local drive and erase from server. Sounds like data corruption to me. Do you think it is just the subfolders, or the entourage db or my hard drive? (please not the hard drive - don't want to reformat - ran a test on the hard drive and came back with no errors) Let me know if you have any insight to issue and resolution and/or if you need more info.  - exchange global address list and public folders I'm running OS X.2.6, entourage 10.1.4 and are exchange server is 2003. I CAN send and receive e-mail, see my calendar, BUT, I have NOT figured out how to import the company global address list. I also can't see the public folders where some of our dept calendars are. Well, MS just released Office 10.1.4 updater, which adds exchange support...
so if you work in a place where there is an Exchange server, you're all set.
There is no Exchange Server for Mac though, so in that sense, it's for
windows environments.
