Hello,

When I have Entourage open, it automatically moves all my emails from
my Exchange Inbox to my Folders on My Computer. Can anyone tell me
what might be the cause of that or how to fix it? I don't have any
rules set up. The only identity that I have the one that connects to
Exchange.

Thanks!

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in the order listed above. The custom rules also run in the order
they are listed. (top runs first)

The most likely culprit is the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to
set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'.
The wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is
an MLM entry (look for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the incorrect
destination folder as the target folder. Mailing List Manager rules run
before your other rules.

Man this is asked so often here, it really needs to be a FAQ entry
somewhere? Is there room on the MVP site for such a FAQ entry?

You know, it's a shame - it seems like Google Groups doesn't find these
answers easily to begin with. I just did a search for "Entourage moves
emails to Folders On My Computer" and didn't get many helpful hits:

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'll give it a shot and let you know
what the findings are.

In my "Folders on My Computer", under it is Inobx (where the emails
keep going) and next to this is a red flag

Is the red flag meaning there is some rule? If not, what does it
mean?

The red flag means the message is flagged. You can flag important
messages so they appear that way. It's just a way to keep track of
important messages. You can use flags however you see fit though.

Highlight the message and take a look at the Entourage Message menu.
You should see a "Flag" menu item.

got rid of a rule in the MLM and it worked. but before it did that,
it wiped out emails in my folders in my inbox. It's time to look at
the brick level on our tape backup. Thanks guys!
