 - Mac and PC Exchange user problems I am a use of both the Mac and PC Exchange environments. My Macs are my primary machines (a G5 tower with dual 2.0Ghz\8GB RAM and an aluminum Powerbook with 167Ghz\2GB RAM), but due to occasional work-related applications I use a Dell laptop running XP SP2. Does anyone know of a way to keep my email synced across all three clients (Entourage 2004 SP2 and Outlook 2003)? The Personal Folders are my biggest problem, as they now reside on the G5 and I can't get to the messages that are there from the PC.  - Folders on My Computer vs. Deleted Items When I open Entourage, I see four folder in the left most box. 1. Folders on My Computer 2. Joe Moran (my name) 3. Microsoft News Server 4. Mail Views All but the news server folder have arrows next to them I can click on to see whats indide them Something funny happened this morning: Incoming messages used to go to the "Joe Moran" folder and then go to the "inbox" there. Now all incoming mail messages go to the "Folders on My Computer" folder and that "Inbox." In addition, they duplicate themselves and apear in the "Deleted Items" folder under "Joe Moran."  - Forwarding causing dupes At work we use an Exchange server and most of our clients run Windows, except a few that run OSX and Entourage 2004. One of our Windows users is using an Outlook rule to forward his email to his personal account (due to his remoteness from our offices I guess this works best for him). When some using Entourage sends an email to a group of people that include this one guy it will forward a duplicate email of that message to everyone who was a recipient of the original message.  - Address (contact) sent from Outlook 2000 to Entourage When my colleagues send me Contacts from Outlook 2000, I only receive an attachment file that is empty. The workaround is to ask them to export the Contact to a VCF card format and send it to me again; which is not popular. Is there a way Entourage can decode the contact information sent from Outlook?  - Show User in Calendar Window Title? Hi, I've had no problems so far with SR2, and can happily see any shared calendars, and so far I really like the update. On the subject of shared calendars however, there is one issue I'd like assistance on - I can open several users calendars in different windows which I can then tile so that I can see them side by side. The problem comes with the fact that I then can't tell which calendar belongs to which user! The titles of the Windows are called something un-useful like "calendar ? main identity 2" and "calendar ? main identity 3", I have folder view turned off so that I can see more of the calendar. Turning on folder view isn't really an option, as that can lead to more confusing, as the folder highlighted isn't always the Calendar Displayed. So it's kind of worse than useless. Does anybody know how to reflect the name of the user in the Window Title? (This would also be useful for both the Window menu and Expose) It seems that shared calendars is a hair's breadth away from being really useful...  - Ent04 SP2 and Calendar switching problems After upgrading to Office 2004 SP2, I have noticed this weirdness with Entorage: 1. Press Apple-1 to view Mail window. 2. Press Apple-3 to view Calendar view. 3. Click the Exchange calendar to view it instead of "On My Computer." 4. Close the window. 5. Press Apple-3 again and it selects the On My Computer view. (I would expect it to keep the Exchange calendar selected) The step #4 is the critical one...if you cycle between 1 and 2, it still keeps the previously selected calendar chosen. Several other people in my organization are reporting that they do not have the same trouble. I've tried trashing the .plist's and rebuilding the database as well as searching through all of the menus and preferences, but haven't found any solutions. I've been using Entourage since 2001 and upgraded through X and 2004. Exchange account existed prior to installing SP2. Ideas? TIA! P.S. - It seems to me it would be nice to be able to disable/delete this additional "On My Computer" calendar. While several people here seem to like it, I sense that there are also a bunch of people who do not need the extra one. And if you're going the multiple calendars route, why not do it like iCal? You can create an infinite number of them and check boxes to turn them on-and-off so that you can view any combination of them.  - moving messages to folders I'm using Entourage 2004. I have started noticing that the drop down list under the "move" icon in my toolbar and in the Message > Move to> menu now lists my folders followed by (On My Computer). This just started in the last day or so. And I don't understand what I may have done to cause this. I find it more difficult to read the lists now, and would like to get rid of this new verbage.  - Office Notifications keep coming back I recently upgrade Entourage 2004 with the latest SP. Ever since, I am prompted about every 5 minutes with Office Notifications for recurring appts.  - Entourage 2004: Project color dots missing and mail and news Since the other day, after starting Entourage 2004, there are NO colored dots indicating the projects accompanying the mail messages anymore, and sorting does not seem to work either. With mail messages, the sorting is reverse ("A on top" means actually "Z on top" and vice versa), while now when I look at the newsgroup, and I have "Arrange By: Subject"... it's more or less RANDOM, with "A on top" it looks like this: Calendar and Contact Upgrade Issues with SP2 (1) -3260 with Entourage 2004 and Exchange Server - expert he... contact tabs (1) SP2 Question Cannot send through Exchange (1) Re: Re: Entourage no longer saving password (1) ...  - Newbie problems. I've set up my address book and send and receive schedule, and that's all working. But three things that WERE working originally have ceased to work. I can only assume that I have done something to un-select them, but I'm darned if I can figure out what that is. The things are this: #1- When I'm in the Mail component, the window has buttons across the top of it that say "New," then a bunch of symbols, then "send & receive," "move" and "categories." Not the toolbar at the very top of the screen -- just at the top of the mail window. Now, I SHOULD be able to use those buttons to manage my mail -- compose new, send, etc. And I could earlier today. But no longer -- nothing happens when I pull down their menus and make a selection. Instead, I have to go to the toolbar at the top of the screen and get into "file" or "message" to do those tasks. Keystroke shortcuts also work. #2 -- My address book won't suggest addresses as I begin to address e-mails. Again, it did earlier today and now won't -- I have to select the address. #3 -- The Entourage icon isn't animating to show me I have new mail. Again, earlier today it was.  - Entourage does not include any name for "To:" when sending to a With Entourage 2004 Sp2, I noticed that Groups are only defined in the local address book and somewhat understand the reasons for that. However, when I use a group to send an email no address appears in the To: column for the sent message in the Sent Items folder. I have the group set up with "don't show addresses when sending to group". This prevents a long list of the individuals users from being put in the "To:".  - Again a question on the GAl and SP2 I can properly access the GAL in Entourage 2004, a great improvement indeed. Much better that just having the Check name option. However, I'd like to know if there is a way to have the GAL be the default address book thats selected when clicking on the Address book icon in a new message (make it the default in the drop-down menu that shows up) and also to have it selected by default when clicking on the Addresss book icon at the top left of the Entourage window.  - Drag & Drop Into Calendar after SP2 I had posted about this and a couple of other issues a few days ago, and now I do not see my post... not sure what happened there. It was definitely there after I had posted it. Anyway... here we go again: I used to be bale to drag an email or a task onto my calendar and Entourage would automatically create a new calendar event, copying the contents of the dragged item into the new event.  - not synching with exchange Entourage does not synch the calendar and address book on the exchange server with my local computer anymore. All the old info is still on the server, but it has disappeared from the local computer. I noticed this after updating to SP2, but don't know if that did it or not.  - Sync Entourage with PDA I don't understand why this should be so difficult. Every windows user I know has a PDA that seamlessly synchs with Outlook to give contact, calendar and task information. I bought a new PalmOne Zire 72 and I've tried everything to get it to "hotsync" with Entourage on my Powerbook. It connects fine. Bluetooth, cradle, cable- all connect fine. And it sync's just fine with the newest version of "Palm Desktop" (4.0, updated especially for Tiger). I just can't get my Entourage data (calendar, contacts, tasks, etc) to sync. What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? Entourage has to be the most widely used contact/calendar program for the Mac on the planet and every computer savy person has a PDA with all their data. What's the secret?  - When I file emails I want them to be deleted from my inbox (Entouragex) Or a red line through them or something, so I know that they have been moved. If I drag from my inbox to a folder in my folder bar I want some sort of evidence that the file was moved so I don't have to then open the folder I dragged into and double check. I'm on a brand new laptop and when I first opened emails and filed them on they were deleted. If I deleted something a red line and x went through it. Once I brought in my old emails from my old laptop into my main identity this stopped happening. I can't figure out where this is all set so I can change back to make it happen as it was.  - Move Entourage Message to Another Folder I want to create an AppleScript to move a message in my inbox folder to an archive folder. The catch is that the inbox is an exchange server. The folder hierarchy is [myname]\inbox. I want to move it to [myname]\inbox\archive. Is this possible?  - SP2 - ERROR WHEN PRINTING WEEKLY CALENDAR I just installed MS Office for the Mac SP2 and encountered a very interesting bug. When attempting to print the calendar in Weekly form, the program crashes totally. Printing in Monthly or Daily form seems to work fine. Any suggestions?  - Authentication Failed error When I try to send/recieve mail in entourage I get the message "the server for your account returned the error authentication failed. Your user name/password or security settings may be incorrect." It's worked perfectly for 2 years until now. When I tried to switch identities, after I set up a new one, it eventually stopped sending messages. Have I lost the ability to export any of my contacts/notes from the original identity?  - Trouble deleting mail from unread view I think I've found a bug in Entourage 2004 SP2, but would like some additional confirmation of the behavior. To reproduce: 1) Open Entourage 2004 SP2 and select "Unread mail" from your Mail Views (using the ordering of Newest on Top) 2) Click on an unread message to select 3) Press the Delete key on your keyboard Expected Results: The selected message is deleted. Actual Results: The selected message is not deleted and the selection moves up to the next unread message date-wise. To actually delete the message you have to reselect the message and pressing delete Configuration notes: On a corporate LAN connecting to an Exchange 2003 backend.  - mail to > automatic address fill in feature Entourage has this nice feature, suggesting a number of email addresses as soon as one starts to type into the 'mail to' field. So far so good. But it tends to show addresses (which if I'm in a hurry even get used by me) that are not in my address book and emails that used this address in one way or another were deleted along time ago. So Entourage must somehow store all addresses ever coming into the (Entourage) system to still offer them as an option.... My question is: how can I get rid of these.  - One single forwarding rule - it works, but the original message I am really hoping that someone, somewhere, has experienced this, and can offer some help... We using Entourage 2004 11.1.0 on OS X 10.3. The account is a POP account, with no Exchange server. The one single rule that it has is set to Forward All Messages, and do nothing else. 99% of the messages are forwarded, except for about one per week. I've checked every folder on the system - including the Inbox, Junk mail, Sent items, Deleted items, and every folder in between. I have checked them visually, and using the search filters, and ensured that I am viewing all messages, not just the Unread ones. I have also checked that the messages are being sent to the correct business address, and are not just direct replies to the forwarding address, so I'm sure they are being sent to the first address, and they are, in fact, being forwarded to the second address. But the messages simply disappear after forwarding! Is there anything such as an Entourage log that can be viewed, or is there any way to view the headers of the message at the forwarding address to see if there is a clue as to why they are just disappearing?  - post SP2 - alerts / office notifications going crazy! Since I upgraded my powerbook with office SP2, the alerts daemon has been throwing calendar / office notification alerts up at random intervals, somewhere between 10-30 at a time. All of these notifications have been previously dismissed - most of the appointments are a week or more old. Every 5-10 minutes, however, I get 30 more alerts.  - Entourage SP2 - Calendar updating taking hours After installing SP2 I just connected to our exchange server where I have 3-4 years worth of calendar data. It appears that all of the data has been transferred to my computer but the synchronizing progress bar has been active for about 3 hours now.  - Copying Entourage local calendar to Exchange calendar hope someone can help I have microsoft office 2004 with the latest service pack *finally conversing with our entourage server (having only ever worked as ima before) I have a *very* full diary in the local entourage calendar but nee this data to be in the exchange calendar which I intend to work wit from now on I am at a loss as to how I get this information across.. how do I d this? I can individually send an item at a time to the other calendar b clicking on an event using the contextual menu and then sending i across that way but given there's probably a 1000 items in the diar before xmas this will take forever.  - ENTOURAGE 2004 -> Exchange deletes but marks diferently deleted messages?? I use a blackberry server, wich only detects messages deleted on my mailbox when it is done directly via Web Outlook, and not when done via Entourage 2004. When I delete messages with Entourage, it sends them to the deleted messages folder. When I delete the messages directly via Web-Outlook, web outlook sends them also to the deleted messages - same folder - To here everything seems ok, and in fact both Entourage and Exchange work perfectly. In fact if after deleting a mesage with entourage I access my exchange server account via Web-Outlook, the message is stored in the same deleted messages folder as if it was done by Web-Outlook. For some reason, when the deleted proces is done via Entourage or via Exhcange, something is done to the message that this movement is only detected by the Black Berry server if it is done with Exchange, but not if it is done with Entourage. Is it possible that Entourage follows a diferent procedure to delete the message via OWA than doing it directly to the Exhange Server.  - Problems with Entourage Project Groups & Printing After installing the recent update, things have gone haywire with Entourage. First of all, my calendar no longer color-codes my project assignments, task, etc. The color codes still exist when I look at individual projects but when I go for the "big picture" under calendar, the colors are all gone, and all tasks are showing up in black font. Second, I tried printing the calendar anyways so I could at least have my events for the week printed up, and I keep getting errors, resulting in auto-shutdown of Entourage. I would delete Entourage and reload the original but my cousin has the CDRom since we bought a family pack to install it and she has since moved to another city.  - Max Number Of Messages In InBox? What's the max number of messages that can sit in the InBox? I know there's a size issue as well, but is there an upper limit danger to too many messages?  - Plugins that let you do nested tasks, or put your project tasks in order? Does anyone know of any updates, anywhere, that will allow you to do this? All I want to do is organize my (massive) task list and this program won't even allow you to change task order or nest your lists. Outlook does this. You can even do it in MS Word or Excel by dragging a table row to a different position. I like everything else about Entourage, but without the ability to do this, the program is rendered nearly useless, to me. Which is frustrating because I really want to use it. What good is it if you can't put basic tasks in order, to do task 1, then task 2, in a project? Thirty tasks out of order look pretty overwhelming. Does anyone know of any plugins or similar that will help me solve this problem? I wrote to Microsoft some time ago about this but have never heard anything else about it. I suspect the suggestion went into a big hole. This seems pretty basic to good design of a program designed to manage people's planning. Under SP2, I see a long list of email directory servers like yahoo people
finder, etc., in the address book pane under my local address book.

But clicking on them gives a "can't find the server" message. How is this
supposed to work? Does it work at all?

It will only work if the servers set up under the "Directory Service" tab in
Tools > Accounts are set up & working properly. Many of the ones that were
at one time included by default in new Entourage identities are no longer in
service.
