I'm not entirely clear on what's going on, so this might or might not help.
Did you add the action to "Receive News" to your Send & Receive All
schedule? If not, go to Tools > Schedules, open the Send & Receive All
schedule, click the "Add Action" button, and select "Receive News" in the
highlighted pop-up. Select the University of Phoenix news server, and then
click the "Account Options" button. Check the subscribed groups you wish to
check for new posts, and click OK. Does that help?
If the above doesn't seem to fix the problem, please e-mail me a screenshot
(Command-Shift-3) of the Send & Receive All schedule. That might give me
some clues for assisting you.
