 - Address book won't alphabetize names I am new to Entourage (and Mac), and I can't get my address book contacts to be listed in alphabetical order. Sounds simple and I feel like an idiot for not being able to figure it out, but I have clicked on the "name" tab in the address book thinking this should do it - and it doesn't. Any suggestions?  - After delete, records reappear I am running Mac OS 10.4.4 with Entourage 11.2.1 and PocketMac 3.12 My BlackBerry/Entourage sync has been giving me problems as data within records is getting deleted, fields from one record is ending up in a different record and records deleted months ago are reappearing. The number of records in Entourage was growing large so I decided to delete a few thousand records in my Calendar and Address Book and rebuild. After completing this when I returned to Entourage about 500 of the deleted records reappeared. Thinking I must have lost my mind I once again deleted the records, rebuilt and this time about 250 of the records reappeared. I followed the same process a third time and once again I have many of the deleted records back. I think (although not sure) that many of the reappearing records are the same. I considered doing an export of the file and then importing back to a new Identity. But before I did I was hopeful someone has seen this before.  - User ID conatining spaces and/or umlauts Dear all, I'm trying to get Entourage 2004 11.2.1 on Tiger to talk to a fully patched Exchange 2003 server. While it works fine with user IDs like "abc", I can't get it to work with "John Döe" or even "John Doe". I have tried all combinations ("JohnDoe", "john.doe", "John_Doe", ...) I could think of, but haven't gotten anywhere. Is there a magic trick or something to make it work?  - Empty Public Folders I've just installed Entourage 2004 (SP2) onto my Mac OS X machine. I have successfully connected to our corporate Exchange 2003 server and mail is working perfectly (aside from the Global address book) however the public folders are behaving strangely. Most of them are appearing empty although one or two are showing recent posts. I have owner permissions on many of the folders as i'm requested to post our brochures/pricelists etc but cannot see any content thru entourage. However i can post new content which i can also see.  - top of column Hi Guys, I am new to entourage and am having some navigation difficulties. I am wondering if their is a shortcut to get to the top of my email (today's latest posting)? I only seem to be able to slowly scroll to the top of my inbox and can't skip quckly using the right hand navigation bar (with arrows). Don't know if I am missing something? I am using entourage connected to my work exchange server via vpn. Otherwise I love the program and my new mac mini.  - Times of e-mail only accurate for those in the junk folder I have a POP account. Just converted to MAC and have been using Entourage for two weeks. when I configure my organize e-mails by EITHER time sent or time received, the messages in the INBOX only display the time that I logged on and downloaded my e-mails. I read the thread that said to change to time sent-this hasn't made a difference. What is strange is that the e-mails in the junk folder have accurate times.  - Priority and Category Much though I should like to get into AppleScript I simply do not have time Can I define key a combination to set the Priority and/or the Category of an email?  - Is there a way to export selected addresses to a text or excel file? Hello there, New Mac user, new Entourage user. I originally used Outlook 2000 on Windows. In that version, I could keep all of my different addresses in folders. (Business contacts in one folder, friends in another, etc.) I could export a given folder to a text or excel file. In Entourage, it seems that all of my addresses are in one place and then sorted by category. How do I make selected addresses export, instead of exporting my entire address book?  - Where are messages stored? I switched computers recently. Was able to move over most of my stuff- signatures, rules, contacts... by transferring the "Main Identity" folder over. A few of the files (Old Database, Old Database 1) would not transfer because of some sort of corruption within. Is this where my messages are stored because I could not get ANY old messages transferred over. Does anyone know how I can get some of my old messages and message folders?  - You do not have write access to the Entourage Application Folder ... Again! Hi folks, I'm a mac-centric IT director at a NY cultural institution. We have about 25 macs on the network.. everything generally just works. BTW, we're an Exchange shop for Mail/Calendaring, etc. I have ONE user who, twice now, has done something to her Imac (running 10.3.9) wherein Entoruage (2004) stops working. It won't open.. instead it throws an error message which, in part, reads: "you do not have write access to the entourage application folder..."... the error message suggests reading the Entourage Read Me file for further instruction/troubleshooting.. The crazy thing: There is NO Microsoft User Data folder in /[diskname]/Documents. There *is* a Microsoft User Data folder in /Users/[problematic_user]/Documents. In other words, it is exactly where it is supposed to be. I can log in to the machine as Admin, or create any number of new profiles, fire up Entourage and it does just what it is supposed to do... I've spent HOURS sitting at this user's machine trying to solve this Entourage problem including uninstalling and reinstalling Office2004, and so on. No soap. I've gone into the terminal, become root and played with permissions.. no soap... My only recourse, both times she's done this, is to create a new Account on the machine and move the contents of her Documents (but not her Microsoft User Data dir) to the Documents dir in the new account... Once we startup Entourage while logged into the new account everything works. ... until she does whatever it is she's doing to screw things up again... I can find NOTHING on Google, here or anywhere else that really gets to the heart of this strange, mysterious problem. I'm convinced that this is a PEBCAK (problem exists between chair and keyboard) issue but of course I can't definitively prove it. In the meantime, I'm hoping SOMEONE here will have some insight into what, precisely is going wrong and, more importantly, how to fix it. I know this is going to happen again.. I don't want to have to create YET ANOTHER account for this person on the same machine to workaround this strange Entourage/OSX behaviour. Thanks!  - Entourage needs Regex (Regular Expression) support in filters Entourage needs Regex (Regular Expression) support in its filters. It seems that if my wife has Quicken 2005 up and Entourage starts to download new messages it has a tendency to freeze her iBook up. This is conjecture on my part as I am going by what my non-techie wife has told me. I thought I would just post here and see if there is indeed a connection.  - Attendee Status update problem - related to identity /update path? I believe the problem of the attendee status not being updated for a meeting organizer using Entourage is related to an issue with the Identity being used by the user. When I created a new identity, attendee status was updated correctly. I also believe that this problem may have have something to do with the history of how Entourage identity was updated. The identity that had the problem with had gone through several incremental SP updates. Short story - if the attendee status is not being updated, one solution is to create a new identity. Unfortunately, this will mean exporting local mail, address book entries, etc and importing them into the new identity. A big shortcoming is that Entourage's Export command on the File menu will not export local groups (though as a work around you can drag the email addresses in the group to a note - Notes DO export). This is a bit of a kludge but works (though all the email addresses copy over as one line and I had to insert returns back in to make them appear on one line). You will have to recreate your groups once in the new identity by dragging the email addresses in an imported note to an empty group.  - "Delete messages from server when they are deleted from this computer" isn't working - Entourage 2004 Has anyone come across this problem and figured out how to fix it? I am using Entourage 2004 with a POP account and I have set my Account Settings to: 1. "Leave messages on server" is checked. 2. "Delete messages on server when they are deleted from this computer" is checked. However, when I delete messages from my Entourage inbox they still appear on the server! If I click the link to delete the message from the server from within the message it works, but my goal is to not have to do that AND delete the message from Entourage to delete it in both places. I make a change to the contact. I click the green down arrow to move to the next contact. I make a change, and so on. When I'm done making changes, I close the contact window. Entourage has given ALL of those contacts the same First and Last Name! And put the same information in the Notes field. This is insane. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a place where all of the bugs for 11.2.1 are kept track of? Entourage was working great for me until I did this. I've really been liking the program until this.  - Problems sending attachments from Entourage 2004 connected to Exchange 2003 Hello: Our organization is having issues sending attachments from Entourage clients. Sometimes the attachments work, but 75% of the time the email just goes into the Outbox and the status bar hangs at about half way. This is expecially true for attachments over 1Mb. We have to delete the message in order to send out any other messages. Sending email from Entourage without attachments seems to work great. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and Entourage 11.2.1 on mostly G5s on OS X 10.3.9. Thanks.  - No help from Sys Adm ;( Hi people, please help me! I'm the only Mac user in a group of PC users. Recently we shifted POP for Hosted Exchange. The supplier don't provide Mac/Entourage support, but I have succeded to view and use my mail, calendar and addressbook. Other users can view my calendar, but I can't view theirs!  - iDisk error synchronizing Entourage project code -1407 An iDisk error just popped up saying "There is a problem synchronizing the file "Archive.rge" Error code is -1407 This file is located on my computer. I searched .mac support and found nothing. Does anyone have any idea what happened and what I should do?  - Address Book Issues - Please help! I am a new Mac user and recently switched over from Outlook to Entourage. The Address Book in Entourage is totally confusing to me compared to the one in Outlook. 1) My addresses don't seem to be in alphabetical order. In fact, they don't seem to be in any kind of order at all. When I click on the Name or the Company tab to change the order around, the order does change but there's no explanation of what my order option are so I don't know what I'm doing when I click on these tabs. It seems like the more I click on them, the more bizarre the order gets. I also have a ton of duplicates for business contacts mostly. Possibly this was a glitch with the transfer from Outlook to Entourage. I haven't even begun to tackle that yet. 2) I'm using Entourage for both personal and business use. Say I'm good friends with Mary Smith and have met her husband at dinner several times. I want to enter them both, together, as husband and wife, in Entourage: John and Mary Smith. However, I want to enter an e-mail address specifically for HER. I do not want it to show up in my e-mail as addessed to John and Mary Smith; I just want it to show up addressed to Mary Smith. The only choices I have for the e-mail address are Home, Business, or Other. This doesn't change the fact that whichever one of these I choose still puts both the husband and wife's names in the address line in my e-mail to Mary Smith. Is there any way around this without making a completely separate entry for her? This seems crazy; it was no problem in Outlook. 3) I see a similar problem with birthdays. Say I enter one of my employee's families. Him, his wife, and his two kids. I want to keep track of each of their birthdays, but Entourage only gives me the option to enter one birthday.  - Urgent: Possible security problem Hi I am having a bizarre problem that I am not able to discern whether is Entourage based or not, but Entourage is my primary email client and I use it every day for most email tasks. Some people are receiving emails that I did not send from my Hotmail account. One of them is receiving the emails otherwise blank but has "Not read:" in the subject line. Another replied that an attachment had been sent from me that she couldn't open, also has "Not read:" in the subject line. I have not sent any email whatsoever to the latter recipient in quite some time. I have run virus scans on my computers with Norton and have not found anything, however, I am concerned there is some kind of security issue here. Can anyone tell what might be causing this?  - Font size too LARGE when printing tasks in Entourage. Help, I'm using up the forests! I am not visually impaired but my Entourage must think I am. Every print job comes out in a large font size - 16 or 18 at least. When I go into prefences in Entourage and click "FONTS" & then "printed items" it does not change the size or the style of the front regardless of what size or style I enter. Also when clicking PRINT the print dialogue box does not seem to offer a choice of font size or styles (I'm a recent convert from PC Office, and you could make a font adjustment here) What am I missing?  - MAC G5 OSX will not connect to W2K3 SBS Exchange Server Hello Newsgroup, I am trying to connect two MAC computers to a MS Small Biz server, with exchange. These systems do not have Entourage or Outlook 2001. Just the plain MAC email client. I have POP and/or Full Exchange SMTP running on the server (Windows 2K3 SBS). Group Policy is set so the MACs see the shares on the server, etc. I am still unable to get the MACs to send email to the server - I get a message that say the MAC email client cannont connect to the server. I have tried configuring an account as POP, and as EXCHANGE, but no luck in either case. What am I missing here? Any help will be greatly appreciated.  - 'gobbledygook' text display in Entourage Am using Entourage 2004, on a iMac G5 2GHz with OSX10.4.4. The text of several emails comes out completely garbled when viewed or printed yet when replying or forwarding, or copying and pasting the text into another application, it displays perfectly. I have fully verified the font setup on this Mac and there are no problems at all. I have tried many different things to resolve this but nothing has worked.  - Sorting emails by date I have a small problem with sorting messages by date, which is really starting to niggle. Today I sent a couple of messages, and when I needed to find them quickly they were not under messages sent today, but under "Older". This happens all the time. Am I doing something wrong?  - syntax error Having nothing but problems since i upgraded to Office 2004. Trying to send out my newsletter to my list which consist of 5 "groups." I get a syntax error on four of the groups and then get a "floh internal system error on the fifth group. The floh problem also tells me "The SMTPserver does not recognize any of the authentication methods used by Entourage. Try changing the SMTP authentication options in Account settings. Error 17092 There is no problems in the settings. They have not changed. I even created a new account and nothing changed. Still getting these errors. Using OSX Tiger 10.4.4 on a G5. Please help.  - AppleScripting Exchange Public Folders Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm getting an "Access not allowed" error when compiling a script with anything like the following: tell application "Microsoft Entourage" set myfolder to "Contacts" in folder "All Public Folders" in folder "Public Folders" of Exchange account "Account Name" end tell I've tried a number of variations on the syntax (trying "address book" instead of folder, etc.), but before I bruise my forehead much more, I figured I ask if anyone knows if it's even possible to work with public folder data from AppleScript in Entourage. My plan was to write a script to tie some info in FileMaker to a particular Entourage public address book record. I'd use the ID field to tie the records together and offer a button in the FileMaker layout that when clicked displays the related contact record in Entourage. I can imagine that there may be a (security?) reason that public folders are off limits to AppleScript, so I thought I'd ask about this one before putting any more time into it. I just got a second computer and am now using Entourage 2004 (latest
update) on each of them to access and Exchange server. Everything
appears to be working fine except that alarms I have dismissed on one
machine show up as active on the other, then it ping pongs back to the
first one when I dismiss on the second machine. Here's the sequence:

1. Using the PowerBook, connect to the Exchange server
2. 29 alarms show up on the PowerBook
3. Choose Dismiss All
4. Alarms go away, don't come back again
5. Using the G5, Connect to the Exchange server
6. 29 alarms show up on the PowerBook
7. Choose Dismiss All
8. Alarms go away, don't come back again
9. Return to step 1

Any ideas?
