 - Spam email addresses secretly showing up in address list - Can't delete Hi I need some help. I am getting tonnes of spam email even though I have the spam setting at = the highest! I noticed that when I address an email that the smart auto fill displays = email=20 addresses I didn't know I had AND they are SPAM email addresses.=20 I search the address book and they aren't there, BUT when I go to the=20 address field of a new email and start to type they show up. I have deduced that somehow spammers have figured out how to get their=20 address into my address book so that they skip the Entourage spam=20 mechanisms and get through BUT I can't find out how to delete them and=20 prevent it from happening.  - Duplicates of DUPLICATES! I am testing 2004 Entourage and the darn thing is downloading multiple copies of the same message and creating duplicates of duplicates in my database.  - Lotus Notes Invitations Entourage X would process Notes invitations and give me the accept/decline buttons. With Entourage 04 that doesn't happen anymore.  - Delivery and Read Receipts Sorry to ask another basic question, but I don't see anywhere in the options inbox that allows me to request a delivery receipt for my outgoing emails.  - Creating rules Can anyone suggest the easiest way to organise incoming emails via rules? In Outlook 2004 I could select an email, hit 'organise' and then create a rule to transfer emails from that sender to a particular folder. It was all very easy and straight forward. With entourage (and my first foray into Mac) there does not seem to be an easy way to do this. Is there something that I am missing? Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.  - Displaying Group Name I have a number of Groups, let call them: My Bridge Club Family Members Coworkers etc. When I compose a message, only the e-mail addresses within that group appear in the header code of the e-mail: johnb@somewhere.com gsmith@shootme.org someguy@horizon.net etc. What I'd really like it to look like is this: Coworkers <johnb@somewhere.com>, <gsmith@shootme.org>, <someguy@horizon.net> In other words, I want them to see that I've named them Coworkers b/c it indicates to them WHY I have chosen to associate them in a group.  - Exclusive Junk protection NOT working I've clicked "Exclusive" Junk protection, and already today 8 spams have landed in my Inbox (not in the Junk folder). I have no instructions at all in my Mailing List Manager that might be the cause. One poster who was having this problem was told: "If it doesn't work for you on Exclusive, something is seriously wrong. Exclusive only allows messages from senders in your Address Book through."  - bug! maybe you lose emails too and dont know?? HI! I am lossing emails! This is not acceptable! Since upgrading to=20 Entourage 2004 i have the following problem: I set up my mailbox in that = way that i can view them online in Entourage (you see on the left in the = Show=20 Folders window the mailbox account with a green line indicating it is = viewed=20 directly from the server which helps you deleting unwanted e-mails = before=20 you download them into your inbox). So very often when i check for new=20 messages I see quickly that there is some new mails on the server, but=20 sometimes by clicking on it to view them and sometimes also just=20 automatically they disappear from the list! I can also access my mailbox = with=20 an internet browser and there i find the mails which have disappeared in = the=20 Entourage Window, this is unacceptable, because if i would not know, = next=20 time I update my mailbox those would be deleted! I have not had this=20 problem in Entourage X. And for what using a mail programm if i have to=20 still constantly go and check my mails thru a browser??  - Sharing Probably been asked 2000 times before BUT Can anyone tell me how with Entourage 2004 on Desktop and Laptop I can simply and easily share stuff, so that when I bring Laptop home, contacts and appointments made on one machine will occur on the other? Don't mind if it's a one-way thing - just want to know how to do it in the best way poss. Is the only answer to transport the identity folder across? Or is there another, better cleaner way.  - Deleted Items and Folders Disappearing I just started using Entourage on OSX to obtain email, using a college server. For some reason when I delete emails, they don't go to a deleted items folder - they just disappear, even though I have it set to store them. Then when I try and create a folder under the school's exchange server, those folders disappear. When I open Outlook Express on OS9, the folders are all there!  - Synchronizing Notes in Entourage X w/Palm handheld Memos When I synchronize between Entourage X and my Treo 600 handheld, the "memos" in the handheld are getting cut off -- the "notes" in Entourage are shorter. The amount missing is variable -- sometimes not at all, sometimes a lot, and the resulting notes are not cut off to some uniform amount of characters. But if anything is missing, it is the end part of the memo/note. The handheld continues to keep the full text of the memo. I don't think this is related, but I started noticing this after having to do an advanced rebuild of the Entourage database. Immediately following the advanced rebuild, I found that one memo/note had been duplicated in Entourage and a few were missing all contents in Entourage. The memos in the handheld were fine. I tried deleting all of the notes in Entourage and having the handheld overwrite Entourage, but the memos are still getting cut off. System info: Entourage X version 10.1.4 Treo 600 running Palm OS 5.2.1 and software version Treo600 1.13 AWS HotSync 3.1 on the desktop, HotSync v. 5.0 on the handheld (why is there a difference?)  - Is it possible to sync the Entourage calendar with iCal? My family shares the iCal calendar--not everyone uses Office, plus I don't know how to publish the entourage calendar.  - Scripting Invitations It appears that there are no criteria among the standard Entourage rule dialogs to enable the identification of an incoming POP message as an invitation to a calendar event. I want to move these invitations automatically to a folder created for the purpose. So I thought that I might script such a move. But now I can't find any attribute in the Entourage dictionary that would allow a message to be identified as an invitation. Such messages have an identifying icon, viewable under the "Message Status" column, so the application must be recognizing them as an invitations.  - Mail Error 5530: The server doesn't support SMTP authentication. Just moved to Canada and got set up on DSL with Bell Sympatico. The connection seems fine (I can surf), but I can't send or retrieve e-mail. I keep getting the following error: Mail Error: The server doesn't support SMTP authentication. #5530. The Sympatico people tell me that since they joined forces with MSN, they're requiring SSL connections for both POP and SMTP servers. Entourage (and it's little sibling, Outlook Express) indicate that they can do this, but no one at Sympatico seems to be able to make this work. I've been on the phone with tech support for 2 days, and they finally gave up today and said it didn't work for the Mac, only Windows, because Entourage and Outlook Express don't support SSL, even though their is a checkbox option for it. This just doesn't seem right to me. Is there a fix? Here are my specifics: OS 9.1 Microsoft Entourage 9.0.4 (Office 2001) POP set for SSL SMTP set for SSL, login required Thanks in advance.  - New Entourage 2004 account setup got another users calendar and contacts! Hello everyone, I'm an SBS/Exchange 2003 administrator, and I just setup a new Exchange account in Entourage 2004... specifically, the exchange administrator account. Setup went very smoothly after importing the certificate into the keychain, and manually configuring the account settings... however, imagine my suprise when I see that the administrator account now has about 700 contacts and birthday reminders in the calendar! I don't use the Exchange admin account for anything but testing purposes, and know that I never entered any contacts or calendar events (except for a few backup reminders that the SBS backup wiz threw in). I also know for certain that these items were not in the calendar or contacts before setting up the Entourage account because I logged in with Outlook 2003 and verified that they were all created the same time I created the Entourage 2004 account. After some digging around, I found that the items belonged to another exchange user. I also found that these items (the ones now in the admin account) are not connected to this user in any way... meaning that if I delete an item from the admin contacts or calendar (using either Outlook or Entourage), they are not deleted in this user's calendar or contacts. I haven't changed any permissions related to the administrator account, so that account cannot get into any other exchange mailboxes... in fact I have a seperate account setup for just that purpose (this was an NT4/Exchange 5.5 setup that got migrated to SBS 2003 and new hardware).  - Email from Entourage 2004 and IHateSpam spam filter I have a problem where when I send email to a PC user my email from Ent. 2004 ends up in their quarantine folder (unless they've already added me to their whitelist). I believe it has something to do with the emails going out with an http header: HTTP with MS-WebStorage 6.0.6249 This the line that looks funky to me when I get properties on the message.  - Entourage not wanting to quit May be that this has been discussed before, but I have a problem. Entourage always restarts itself, when I try and quit Entourage. This is the problem if I have installed software that requires a restart or if I do not want Entourage open.In the case of installing software Entourage will quit, but then restart thus canceling the the restart the software install required.  - inbox from entourage to pc outlook I accidentally downloaded my entire inbox off of my corporate exchange server and onto my MAC harddrive. does anyone know how I can get my messages back to the exchange server.  - Loosing e-mails in Entourage 2004 maybe you too? !!! HI! I am lossing emails! This is not acceptable! Since upgrading to=20 Entourage 2004 i have the following problem: I set up my mailbox in that = way that i can view them online in Entourage (you see on the left in the = Show=20 Folders window the mailbox account with a green line indicating it is = viewed=20 directly from the server which helps you deleting unwanted e-mails = before=20 you download them into your inbox). So very often when i check for new=20 messages I see quickly that there is some new mails on the server, but=20 sometimes by clicking on it to view them and sometimes also just=20 automatically they disappear from the list! I can also access my mailbox = with=20 an internet browser and there i find the mails which have disappeared in = the=20 Entourage Window, this is unacceptable, because if i would not know, = next=20 time I update my mailbox those would be deleted! I have not had this=20 problem in Entourage X. And for what using a mail programm if i have to=20 still constantly go and check my mails thru a browser??  - Entourage IMAP slow on LAN, Fast Externally? I'm seeing severe performance problems with Entourage X when connecting to an EIMS 3.2.5 server on our local LAN. The problem on the LAN typically is that in the Progress window, several operations will queue up, without any completing (reading messages, updating mailboxes, etc.). However, when connecting from home through my cable modem, everything runs smoothly. This is both on the same machine (PB G4 1.25) and on a Dual 1.25 desktop, both running 10.3.4.  - Cannot Sync with Palm Ok I cannot get entourage to sync with my Palm PDA.. If I try the microsoft entourage conduit.. It installs fine but when I go into conduit manager and try to change the conduit settings... Nothing happens.. I cannnot enable the conduit.. If I try and use Queuesync the third party conduit.. Whenever I try to alter the settings for that conduit it just give me an error that no "MS Library" or "no microsoft syncronization library" and I can't change the conduit settings either. I've wiped out everything and reinstall everything to no avail. I cannot find any information on the web or newsgroups about this happening.. They all say just go into sync manager and turn on the conduit.. But I cannot do that, clicking conduit settings does nothing. Has anyone had this problem? Has anyone got any ideas?  - Reading complex html In Entourage 2004 in Panther, I seem to have some problems with reading complex html emails. Sometimes, they are fine, but there are other times where I get the beachball for about 3 seconds, then Entourage quits. I have 650MB RAM, and I didn't have this problem with Entourage X. So I just turn off complex html in my preferences, and every once in awhile I get frustrated and turn complex html on until the crashing frustrates me and I turn it off again. For POP mail, look in the 'deleted items' folder.

If the account is IMAP, then the settings in prefs for handling deleted mail
may cause the mail to be purged completely when you leave that folder, in
which case there is nothing you can do.
