Hi everybody,

I wonder if anyone knows how to customize the calendar view (daily and
weekly). I don't have many entries at 2:00 am. ;-) So I would like
Entourage to show me a time range from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, for
instance. Is this possible?

Kind regards,
Matthias

The Day and Week views will always show all hours of the day. In Entourage
2004, the first time slot that appears should be the beginning of the work
day. To change your work hours, go to Entourage -> Preferences, and then go
to General Preferences > Calendar. Set the work hours as you wish, and then
click OK. Now, Day and Week calendar views should open to the time that you
want.

If I change my work hours in General Preferences, only the background
colour changes for these time range. Both views, the daily and weekly
view starts still at 0:00 am and finish at 11:00 pm. So almost every
entry in my calendar is in the center of the screen. (Maybe I don't
work hard enough? ;-)

Nevertheless thanks for the quick response!
Matthias

Just a funny note: if I invite people and switch then to the the
busy/free times view (in the invitation), entourage recognises my
calendar preferences for this view! It would be nice if I could use
this feature in the regular daily and weekly view!

Yes, if you have a large display at a high enough resolution, Entourage will
display all hours of the day. I forgot about that case when writing the
original message, as I don't have a screen that large. In that case there
is no way you can change it. In my opinion it seems more practical to
display all hours than start at the beginning of the work day than to start
at the beginning of the work day and waste space at the bottom of the
window.

To do that you would need to shrink your calendar window to a significantly
smaller size. If your window were small enough, then opening a day or week
would have the beginning of the work day at the top (note that you need to
switch to month view and then reopen day view for the change to take
effect). But honestly I don't think that is worth it if the larger window
satisfies your needs.

Thanks again for the quick response!
Even if you believe that it is more practical to see 24 hours of the
day, practice dictates a different approach. The problem remains that
by squeezing the work day into less than one third of the screen
results in illegible entries. Even with my "huge" 17" screen, each
hour only gets 1cm (less than the width of my thinnest finger). The
best use of screen real estate would be to only show the working hours
(scaled up to the size of the window). Entries outside working hours
should extend the displayed time range to include those entries.
All day entries should only be shown in the row at the top and not
effect the hours displayed.

Thanks again,
Matthias
