    - Entourage calendar and exchange do not sync I just installed the Exchange update for Entourage, and can't get the calendar to sync. I have items in my Entourage calendar and would like them to go over to the exchange server, and then setup items in Outlooks calendar and they do not show up in Entourage except for when I go into the folder for my exchange account I can see a list of calendar events, and the one I added in Outlook shows up. It doesn't however show up in the calendar in Entourage. I have deleted and recreated the account twice now, so the settings should be correct. Has anyone been able to get it to work?     - MAPI support? Downloaded and installed the Entourage update. I can access my Exchange account easy enough, but can't send email outside of my building. My Exchange administrator says it's because I need to set up an account under MAPI (?) instead of IMAP. Does the Entourage update support MAPI? Thanks for any information.     - cleaning the address, duplicated address I'm using os10.2.3 with iBook. I'm trying to find an easy way to clean up the duplicated address. I've imported some addresses from a number of programme such as Outlook and Palm and quite a few of the address are duplicate.     - What's with the filters??? I give up with the junk mail filter. Things labeled "generic viagra" and "make lenders compete for your loan skjdas" pass by as fine, but just now, a reply from a friend who is IN MY ADDRESS BOOK was labeled as junk.     - Problems receiving POP mail--Please help! I'm trying to get Entourage X to retrieve my POP mail properly. Every time I do a "Send and Receive," Entourage insists on retrieving ALL 700+ messages in the Inbox of my Web-based account, instead of just the new ones. (When I did my very first "Send and Receive," I went through the process of downloading all 700+ e-mails onto my local computer. Doesn't Entourage realize that all those e-mails have been received already? I even tried moving them out of the Inbox into a new folder I named "Old Inbox", and Entourage still keeps trying to retrieve them.) Then, it throws ALL the mail from my Inbox into the Trash folder on my Web-based account instead of leaving a copy on the server, like it's supposed to. (Under "Tools>Accounts" for this POP Web-based account I've set up the Entourage options "to leave a copy of each message on the server" and to "delete messages from the server" after they are deleted from my local computer.) Adding insult to injury: When I delete a received POP message from my local computer, it doesn't delete that same message from my Web- based POP account, like it's supposed to. My settings must be okay because my local computer CAN send and receive mail from and to my Web-based account; it's just not listening to the preferences I set up under Tools>Account>Edit Account>Options.     - Deleting Messages in Inbox I've been using Entourage on the Mac for a few months. I had been using Outlook on the PC for many years now. One of the things that is driving me nuts, is that when I delete a message, Entourage automatically highlights the message ABOVE the deleted message, and not the next message.     - Form Mail data put into excel spreadsheet OK, I need some help. I would even be willing to hire someone to help me with this project. I have a few forms set up on my web site, they use the basic formmail script. The data gets e-mailed to me, I then respond to the e-mail, and file the e-mail in a folder in Entourage. Now I have a few thousand messages, and need to some how get this info into a spreadsheet so I can keep that data. For example. One main form that is used, which can be viewed @ http://LBDSL.com/availablity.html , has phone number name, e-mail, address info. I need this info put into a spreadsheet. I found a program called Mail Convert 2.5.4 on apple's web site that is supposed to do the exact thing I want, but I can't get it to work.     - trouble importing entourage email i am running OS 9.2 and recently did a clean install. everything was backed up so i have my email but i am not able to import it into my new account. I go to File> Import and I get options to import information from programs I don't run i.e. outlook express, qualcomm eudora, claris emailer or a choice to import from a text file. one says 'Import messages from MBOX format text file". i tried that and after following the folders > office 2001 identities > main identity >...when i get to main identity --where my emai doc is...it shows up empty. how do i get it to appear so i can choose it and import the email? or is there another way to import email. i really need it!!!     - Responding in color I notice that if I send an e mail and ask a bunch of questions some people like to respond in between text in different colors. I just tried this with someone who sent me a bunch of questions. I made sure I was in html mode, and used the color selector. The only problem was that every time I moved down a few lines to answer the next question, the color reverted back to black. Just seeing what are the best techniques for this. Thanks!     - Time lapse When sending a mail, entourage seem to take some time trying to log into my mail server, approx. 15secs of idling time after which it will only start sending the mail out.     - Problem using ssh tunneling with localhost, error -3260 I am trying to setup entourage to read from the localhost via ssh to my company server. Every time I try to read mail I get the -3260 error message. I have validated my account settings in both mac mail and netscape mail and both work fine with ssh.     - Missing Entourage Folders Comrades: I was recently forced to reinstall OS 10.2.6 and Microsoft office. The hard drive was backed up before this reinstall. Everything is fine now but the Entourage personal folders (the folders under "on my computer" in the folder pane) have disappeared. Searching by name does not produce results.     - Office 2001 Type 2 error on load Hi there: each time I try loading Entourage, Word, Powerpoint, or Excel I get a Type 2 error, crashing the program. Sometimes Entourage will boot up, but give me a Type 3 error as soon as I begin to receive email. Outlook loads up, but crashes as soon as I try to check my email. So far, I've tried deleting my Internet Preferences, Microsoft Preferences, and moving my identity to a new folder, all to no avail. Loading Entourage off the CD didn't work either. Any ideas?     - Entourage X rebuild problems (I also posted this on the Entourage-Talk mailing list. I hope this is OK.) The Problem: I am having a serious problem with my mail database. I cannot access the data and rebuilding does not work. To make things worse the last backup was made on June 13th, which I hate to admit. There has been important mail communication since then which I would really, really hate to loose. Therefore, I would be most thankful for any help on how to solve my problem! The Details: I am running the latest version of Entourage X on Mac OS X 10.2.6 with Office v. X 10.1.3. My database is already fairly big, it has 2.28 GB (2.453.017.424 Bytes). I read that the maximum size can be 4 GB so it should still work. Three days ago Entourage stopped working. On starting it shows the following error, without an error number: "Accessing the data is not possible. Perhaps the problem can be solved by rebuilding the database." After pressing OK I get: "To rebuild the database quit all other Microsoft Office applications and try it again." (I am translating these from German so the English error messages probably are somewhat different.) I did not find the error on http://www.entourage.mvps.org. I quit Entourage X and start a Typical Rebuild. I see a progress bar from 0 to 10220, probably the total number of my mails. After 1 minute progress is on 200. There it stays around 5 minutes. The new database grows to 3.23 GB. I checked that in the Finder. After 9 minutes I get the following error, again without an error number: "The database could not be rebuilt, because there is not enough space left to create the new database files." Actually, I have 15.7 GB of free space on the hard disk. I assume that the 4 GB limit was reached. When I look in the Finder the new database was deleted again and I still have my database with 2.28 GB. I tried an Advanced Rebuild. First it does some preparation, the progress bar goes from 0 to 10220. Then it does compaction. The progress bar from 0 to 10220 is on 1400 after 1 minute. There it says for quite some time. The new database grows from 1 GB to 3.9 GB (4.193.139.408 bytes) in 11 minutes. After 13 minutes the progress moves from 1400 to 2700. After 14 minutes I get the following message: "The database was rebuilt. The old versions of the database files were renamed to Old Database and Old Database Cache. They can be moved to the trash." After pressing OK I get: "The storage limit of the Entourage database was reached. The Entourage database can save up to 4 Gigabyte (GB) of information. This limit is now reached. Compact the database by doing a Typical Rebuild." The new database has 4 GB (4.294.967.280 Bytes, 16 bytes less than the full 4 GB). Entourage prompts me for a rebuild. I do a Typical Rebuild again. It starts compacting the database, again from 0 to 10220. It stays at 1300 for 13 minutes. Then there is a second progress bar named "compacting and optimizing email" from 0 to 1288. After 14 minutes the following message is shown: "The database was rebuilt. The old versions of the database files were renamed to Old Database and Old Database Cache. They can be moved to the trash." Entourage X opens but does not show my identity but the main identity. When I switch to my identity I get the message: "The storage limit of the Entourage database was reached. The Entourage database can save up to 4 Gigabyte (GB) of information. This limit is now reached. Compact the database by doing a Typical Rebuild." The database has now 3.99 GB (4.292.677.552 bytes). I tried doing a Typical Rebuild again without success. When I open Entourage X I get the message: "The storage limit of the Entourage database was reached. The Entourage database can save up to 4 Gigabyte (GB) of information. This limit is now reached. Compact the database by doing a Typical Rebuild." Then it prompts me to do a rebuild. If I say cancel I get the follwing error message, without an error number: "Error during startup. Message error." The questions: 1. Why does the rebuild try to grow my database from 2.28 GB to 4 GB so that the storage limit is reached? 2. Why does it say there is too little space on my disk if I have 15.7 GB free? 3. Does anyone have an idea what else I could try? 4. Can anyone please provide me documentation about the file format of the Entourage X database? I am a programmer myself and could write a program to save my mails if I had this information. 5. What might be the reason for the first error message in the first place? ("Accessing the data is not possible. Perhaps the problem can be solved by rebuilding the database.") I did not make any unusual observations like message errors before. The speculations: I wildly guess that there is some error in the rebuild. Maybe there is some corrupt message so that Entourage reads over its end and thinks it is huge. The rebuild staying that long at one place and the database growing to almost twice the size seems to support that assumption. Perhaps the actual limit for the Entourage X database is not 4 GB but actually somewhere at 2 GB due to the design of the rebuild process. In this case it should be documented. The pledge: I would be really, really thankful if someone could provide me information to fix this problem and get to my emails. If you need some additional information from me or want me to try out things I will gladly do that. If you can provide me with test programs which check my database for certain error conditions I am willing to run them. If you provide me with information about the file format I will help debugging the problem. Thank you for your patience and support!     - Junk mail filter overzealous I'm running Entourage X on OS 10.1.5. When I receive new mail that I've sent to myself, it goes straight into the Deleted Items folder.     - Missing entourage folders Comrades: I was forced to reinstall OS 10.2.6 and Microsoft Office X recently. This seems to have deleted all of my personal folders in Entourage (the folders listed under "on my computer" in the folder pane). I backed up my hard drive before restalling the above software and the reinstall created a folder on my hard drive called "previous systems" that contains most of the previous, relevant files.     - Changing keyboard layout / input type stops spell checking Hello, I have recently acquired a Polish language spelling dictionary for Office X, which installs nicely into the standard location for dictionaries in "Shared Applications." In Word, this dictionary works beautifully, but in Entourage a strange problem emerges. In Entourage, when I write using the US keyboard layout, I can spell check fine using either the English (UK) or Polish dictionaries (but this latter part isn't very useful, since Polish contains Central European font characters). When I switch the Input Type to Polish, so I can write Polish words correctly, whatever I type is ignored by the spell checker, using any dictionary. It's as if the spell checker simply does not see any text entered using the Polish Input Type. Any ideas on how I can get the spell checker to recognise text entered using the Polish Input Type, so I can actually use the Polish dictionary to check Polish spelling? I've tried selecting and pressing Delete and Cmd-Delete, but the "Delete Message" and "Delete Thread" options are greyed-out in the "Edit" menu.     - PocketPC Sync with new Entourage? I regrettably purchased a Pocket PC which worked quite well with Entourage for OS9. Someone could send me an email with an event. I would accept. It would automatically add it to my calendar. They have changed the calendar standard in Entourage for X (you would think both Microsoft products would be compatible) and now the dates are all wacky.     - BBC message won't send ... I tried to sent a message with a BBC list of about 150 recipients. It froze part way through, and left the message in the Outbox. "Send and receive" failed to finish or restart the process. I've quit Entourage, restarted, tried resend a number of times ... and I see no activity indicated by the "progress gear." I would gladly create a new message and resend, but when I try to open the errant message, in order to copy its contents, I get the following error message: "Can't open the message because it is being send."     - CANT UPDATE OFFICE X to 10.1.3 Hi, I have been running Office 10.0.0 for quite some time. So I decided I needed to update the software. I first updated it to 10.1.2. Everything went okay. Then I updated it to 10.1.3. It had me re-enter all my info ex:name, Phone #, and registration #. When I entered the reg#, it said the # is invalid. How can this be?     - Entourage Deletes My Email Too! Hello Listers! I just wanted to chime in and say that Entourage deletes email on my IMAP (.mac) account also. It is always the OSXList Digest. It will also rename and replace the email with the next email message. This has happened five or six times, and I have only been using Entourage for about two weeks! Other than this quirk I love it!     - Big issue with Restore/Import Messages after backup Hi all ! I've got an issue trying to Import back the messages I previously saved from Entourage 2001. I did save all the messages with drag & droping the folders (including the Inbox) to a safe place, on another Mac. Then I installed again the iMac (format the HDD, install Mac OS 9.2.2, Office 2001, getting back the data and the old Entourage folders on the HDD, etc). Then I drag & dropped back the folders with my old messages back in Entourage 2001. And here come the problems... The restoration of the small folders was fine - OK. The restoration of the BIG folders (more than 150 MB, i.e. 1500 messages in store in a single folder) works but only partially: some messages are missing, since a more or less precise date (for example: in the Inbox, I have only the messages running from the Jan 1 2003 until March 27 2003 - nother after this date). No error message pops up. I upgraded Office 2001 to SR1, and started again the Imports - but that doesn't add anything to the gloomy picture...     - What's this line through messages? I have a junk mail folder on our IMAP server. After "deleting" the messages in that folder, I can still see them but they are crossed out. version and am trying to connect to an Exchange server. I
have all of the user info. listed correctly, but it can't
connect. For the server, am I supposed to use the actual
server name or the IP address? Both haven't worked.

This client only does IMAP or POP, so you must provide the name or address
of the IMAP or POP server for your Exchange site. If it's Exchange 2000,
then it's (probably) not the same as your mailbox server.

Make sure when you are setting it up you click on the button to configure it
manually. That will allow you to enter more information and maybe that will
help.
