 - Internal Registry Problems For about a month now, roughly since the time I upgraded to Leopard, Entourage 2004 has been gagging on 4362 and 4363 errors. There is no particular time when this happens, but I notice that selected folders will fail to fill in their respective column views. The first few messages in the inbox, for example, will be visible with blank space below. This morning I had a fleeting glimpse of a message from this newsgroup in my inbox, then it was gone. This leads me to believe that there is a database corruption that is leading to some sorting confusion, some lack of assignment of messages under the filtration applied by the application for any particular view. I've run the utility 50 times over the past month, running it 3 and 4 times in succession on the database. Still the same problem. I've backed up, of course, but I can't solve the problem. I'm thinking about exporting then importing into a new identity but I am not confident that that would do the trick. My database is only about 1Gb, and I've pruned away everything that I don't really need from messages, contacts and calendar events. Any ideas, please?  - Can Word '08 be used as the text editor for Entourage? Hello, I'm used to using Outlook (email) in Windows and for the last several versions you could set it up to use Word as its text editor. It was called WordMail. You had full control to use all the formatting available in Word for all your emails (HTML of course) With Office 08 for Mac will Entourage and Word work similarly?  - Syntax Error Can anyone help me with a "Syntax Error"? I was able to send emails out the yesterday and it looks like I can still receive.  - Calendar View (Show Current Date) Is it me or would it not have been a nice thing to have the current date highlighted in Month view? And when I hit the Today button it doesn't even highlight.  - Forwarding and Replying to Meeting Invites? I'm using Entourage 2008 against an Exchange server at work. How come the events don't allow me to forward or reply to them as I can in Outlook? In outlook I can seemingly forward any meeting invite or reply if I have a question to the sender prior to actually accepting the meeting. But this doesn't seem available in Entourage?  - Can't send outside firewall via Entourage 2008 I can get my mail from an Exchange 2007 server just fine outside of my firewall using the OWA/WebDAV service. I can even search free/busy. I know I can't get the LDAP server outside of the firewall, so I have not tried. My problem is that I can't send via my exchange account unless I am in the firewall, and in that case the server name is different. My goal is to be able to get/send mail from my mac at home without using a VPN. As an alternative, I can set up an imap account, create a smtp service that works, and when I send a mail, change the "send from" to the imap account and then the mail goes. But, ugh, to do this for every email.... no way! If there was a way to automatically tell Entourage 2008 that you want to use an smtp server to send, that would be a fine alternative (I think, I don't know what that does to sent mail).  - Today's color Maybe I'm going color blind, but when in the calendar, today's color is something I'll call "barely beige." The other days are a sort of light gray or off-white. It's pretty tough to tell the difference between today and the rest of the days. That goes for daily, weekly, and monthly views all. I've looked in the preferences and haven't found something to control the color, transparency, or anything else. Is this weird scheme just on my machine? Is there a preference anyone can point me to?  - messages not going to inbox Help! Messages are automatically being downloaded to the Inbox in "Folders on my Computer", the messages are being removed from the server before they are even read. This is only occuring in Entourage, when checking email from Outlook everything works as it is supposed to. We're using an Exchange Server, running Entourage 2004 on 10.5.1.  - Entourage 2008: pressing Delete key deletes message! I have just discovered that the Delete key is a shortcut for Delete Message. This is true even if your are editing the message text or subject. There seems to be no way to fix this, at least using the Entourage preferences. The documented behaviour in Entourage help is that pressing the delete key will delete the character to the right if you have the "Use Microsoft Office keyboard shortcuts for editing text" check box selected in General Preferences. If it is cleared, then the delete key is supposed to delete left as in "Macintosh-style editing". This is a Big Problem, since I (and just about everyone else) would expect the delete key to delete a character. I've already deleted this message once by accident.  - Slow Performance I just upgraded to Office 2008 and I am experiencing slow performance in Entourage. If I'm in the mail window and click on the calendar view, it takes about a minute for it to open. And my processors are screaming at 75%. If I check off a task as complete, same thing.  - Slow Performance I just updated to Office 2008 and Entourage is really slow to respond. When I send mail, it will take sometimes 30 sec to complete the event with no attachments.  - Dating and Prioritizing Tasks My use of Entourage is primarily task driven, not appointment driven. On any given day, I might have 20 tasks I need to accomplish on that day, and only 1 or 2 appointments. I need to be able to enter tasks for dates well into the future, assign them to a specific date, be able to view my tasks by date, and prioritize the tasks listed for each date.  - Entourage 2008 address book synch I have upgraded to Office 2008. One of my mailboxes is on a hosted Exchange server, also synched to my BlackBerry. I imported the Entourage 2004 identity and everything synchs fine, except for address book contacts. First no contacts showed up in the folder, then I manually copied the previous identity contacts, and I got duplicate contacts in my Exchange account. Now the problem is that address book synch doesn't occur at all between Entourage 2008 and the Exchange server (and the Blackberry too, of course). If I add a contact in Entourage it shows up in the Exchange mailbox, but not the other way round. Today I added a contacts on the Blackberry and nothing showed in Entourage. Calendar and email synching work flawlessly (so far :-)). I verified the settings and all seems ok. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.  - Solution question (not a problem) Hi I was wondering if anyone else had a similar need to us with regard to Entourage on Mac - OS X 10.3, 10.4 and (possibly sometime in 2008) 10.5 - and BlackBerry Enterprise Server/MS Exchange 2003. Our BlackBerry phones are used by on the road account managers who share a FileMaker-based database of contacts when in the office. I am looking to enable the AMs to have access to these contacts when out of the office. Being that there are a lot of them I want to make it a searchable function.  - Entourage cannot send mail with one specific account I run my own mail server (OSX 10.5.1 Server, running Postfix), and Entourage will not send mail through it, saying, "Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods." It's a simple password authentication. These exact same settings work fine with Mail.app. Entourage first created the account by importing the Mail.app account, and when that didn't work, I deleted it and recreated it by hand in Entourage.  - Entourage prints in large fonts / outlook users receive large fonts All users in my office (other than me -- the sole mac user) use outlook and html messages. I have to use Entourage primarily because the number of appointments I get and I am very happy with it overall. However, sometimes they get the super large font situation when I send emails to them. I changed my preferences so that my emails are always composed as Arial 10 which helps a lot, however, I have heard that if they try to cut and paste the emails they get the large font. Also they tell me that if they view the email on the web using OWA they also see the large font (although not necessarily in outlook). I have also encountered a problem that emails and airline receipts print out very large on printers and I have not been able to adjust that. The only thing I have found in newgroups as a solution to this is using plain text and although I understand the reason for saying that, its not very practical for me with the forced line wrap and types of emails I have to send. Also the typical response I have seen to the font issue is that it is a fault of HTML and not of Entourage, but in my experience, the same emails work fine in Apple mail, so I don't know if HTML can fully be to blame. Finally to my question -- Is it possible to adjust plain text so it wraps rather than start a new line and has anyone else encountered the large font printing problem and found a solution?  - Soft delete in entourage 2008 Hi! In entourage 2004 when a message was deleted ( from mail box/folders/junk mail ) it went to deleted items. Since I have have installed entourage 2008 the items when deleted prompt "permanent delete ?" and there is no coy in deleted items folders !!! Is there a way to have a soft delete option ?  - Calendar Dates Incorrect Hi All-- I recently upgraded to Mac Office 2008 on OSX Leopard (MacBook Pro 17" - First Edition). Everything went smoothly with the upgrade. However, I've noticed that the default dates for new events in my Calendar are incorrect. Creating a new event defaults to January 5th, 2008; if I click the calendar icon to change the date, the pop-up calendar shows January 1, 1970. Any date I select does not change the event date, which stays at January 5th. I'm connected to and Exchange Server, however, all dates on my machine and the server are correct. When this happens, i go to the Outbox folder, located under "Folder on My Computer", open the message again, press Send and of it goes...  - Calendar view: 30 minutes "blocks" Hi, In Outlook, one can choose to view the calendar items in details of 60, 30, 15, 10, and 5 minutes. You can achieve this by right clicking the ribbon in front of the calendar view and selecting the appropriate view. Entourage Calendar is by default giving the 30 minutes detail. Went to bed last night everything was fine, this a.m. both my exchange account and POP account show (Not Connected") next to the folder and I am not getting email. 
 
So far I have 
1. Restarted Entourage 
2. Restarted the Computer 
3. Checked to to see if I can use browser (which I can) 
4. Ran terminal and ping'd the exchange server and also the the server name (which I can) 
 
So why is it not connected?

Check to make sure "Work Offline" isn't checked in the Entourage menu.

Try connecting to your POP3 account manually - choose "Send & Receive" from
the Tools menu and poll that account.

Sorry, found out that Exchange "service" was down on the server so even though I could ping the server IP and name with the service down is was all down. I'm bad...
