With the switch to Daylight Saving Time, I get a new error in Entourage 2004
warning me that the event and computer time zones do not match and that the
Calendar display will be adjusted to reflect the event time in the computer
time zone. The default time zone is Central Time, which I confirm for new
events.

Entourage is set to Central Time, as is OS X...OS X makes the distinction
between Central Daylight Time (CDT) and Central Standard Time (CST) but
Entourage does not. Is this the source of the mismatch?

I am getting the same issue in Eastern time zone .. running Entourage 11.2.3
on Mac OS X 10.4.5. This did not happen when we were on daylight time last
year. Is it a new bug with some update or other that was released in the
last few months?

I'm in Pacific and am having the same problem, must be a new bug
introduced since the last time we changed, or Tiger has changed how
this works and Entourage isn't getting back what it expects.

I am running OS 10.4.5 on a Powerbook with MS Office 11.2.3. All of my
repeating appointments as well as any new appointments have the same
banner issue. All Date & Time prefs are set to Eastern Time as well as
automatic via Apple Time Server.
All appointments are showing up with the correct times however when I
open them up or add any new appointments (except for all-day) I have
the banner.

Restarts and rebuilds have not appeared to correct the issue.

Are either of you by chance have your computer set to Indiana as the
location? I've read about some issues that folks have had with Indianapolis
as the location.

Apparently they have recently passed a law honoring daylight savings time.
Previously, they ignored it and stayed on Standard time.

Just one remote possibility.

-Mark

P.S. I think that Arizona still has not adopted DST.

Are any of you getting email from Exchange servers?

We have this issue with EXCH 2003 servers and Entourage.

I'm on an Exchange server and am not seeing any problems with the time
on emails. I'm in the same time zone as the server though, do you have
the server somewhere else?

We have servers all over the world, but the one I¹m on is in the same time
zone.
We are now researching SP2 for the servers we¹re still running SP1 for
reasons related to Blackberry servers.

Yes, with all the POP and IMAP, no issues. It seems to be between Entourage
and Exchange Server 2003.

Using POP as well. No problem with all day events. No problem with
emails.

I have the same problem here. When i open Entourage events I get a
banner warning me that the time is incorrectly set.

I live in Montreal, QC. OS X is set to sync time with Apple server. The
daylight time change happened automatically on my system. I checked,
and the time zone is set correctly in both iCal and Entourage.

Does anybody know the cause of this error message and the solution
(tried to reset the time zone of some events, no success).

1. Change the time zone on your computer
2. Change the time zone in Entourage
- open Entourage
- select Entourage>preferences from the menu bar
- under general preferences, select Calendar
- set the default time zone to Eastern Time (US&Canada)
3. Each Calendar item that has already created will have to be updated to
the new zone individually
4. Open a Calendar items that appears on your calendar after April2
5. You will notice a yellow information bar near the top of the computer
time zones do not match
- In the open appointment, click on options icon (above the information bar)
- select time zone
- select Eastern time (US&Canada) from the drop down list
- save and close the appointment window
- repeat these steps for all appointments that already appear on your
calendar

I have tried all of that but without luck. Even if I open a new event,
the banner comes up that time zones are different--even though they are
not as far asI can tell. Another suggestion?

I have also done this to no avail. I am on a new MacBook Pro running
10.4.6 and Office 11.2.3.

This problem is annoying!

This problem is a bug, not a user problem. Either Microsoft or Apple
needs to step up to the plate and fix it, depending on the source of
the problem. New calendar entries have the same issue. Re-typing all
old entries is not an acceptable "fix".

Agreed--fortunately it doesn't seem to affect the entries. I haven't felt
brave enough to try changing the computer time zone to see how things shift
and then shift back (i.e. Simulate a trip into and back from a different
time zone).

If I had to bet money on a bug location, I'd bet that it's in Entourage--OS
X seems to make a distinction between DST and standard time when selecting
the time zone, as the name of the time zone itself changes (CST to CDT) but
in Entourage, I haven't found such a distinction--central time is central
time, regardless of standard or DST.

Ah, but it does affect the entries. The free/busy information that others
see is shifted. I have one meeting today at 1230 that shows as 1400 when
Outlook users look at my schedule. OWA shows the same wacky version of the
times.

So while viewing in Entourage is "safe", others have the wrong time and I
see an unreliable view of my calendar with OWA.

I have verified the time zone settings. FWIW, I have the sync services stuff
turned on. I wonder if that is a complicating factor?

Yup, seeing exactly the same thing. Updating to 10.4.6 makes no difference.
All calendar events now display the mismatched timezone banner despite the
fact that the computer timezone and entourage timezone appear to be the
same.

darlene - you work for microsoft and this is the best they can do -
tell me about a multistep process to hand reset every appointment after
moving to daylight savings time. that's not bad it's embarassing.
sounds like an article for every tech column in maerica this week.
surely MS can come up with a patch for this one. really truly can you
help? thanks - peter

In any case, darlene's suggestion doesn't work.

My Entourage and MacOS timezones are set to US Eastern. I create a new
event in the future, and I immediately get the mismatched timezone banner,
despite the fact that the Options->Timezone setting in the event is the
correct (US Eastern) timezone.

So there is some fundamental bug with Entourage, which should be fixed.

I might add that I'm not sure what (if any) deleterious effect this bug has
on the operation of Entourage. These events synced to iCal seem to have the
correct info, but I suppose there may be hidden problems about which I am
unaware.

Same problem here. I have looked on the Microsoft site and see nothing
that helps out.

How do we contact MS and let them know that there is apparently some
kind of bug in Entourage?

Also, have people noticed if the appointment times are OK or are they
getting screwed up?

Has anyone heard anything about a fix being released by MS?

Here's a fix for you: If you don't mind losing the spotlight and sync
functions with ical that were introduced in the last rev:

Re-intalled Office and upgraded to the version 1 before the latest rev.
which was Office 2004 for Mac 11.2.1 Update

Process:

from CLI using top, killing all Microsoft Processes
duplicating Main Identity onto desktop (just in case)
Deleting MS Office (using Additional tools/Remove Office) and all prefs
but leaving Office 2004 Identities in Documents folder
