 - Calendar printing I was trying to print the Calendar in Landscape mode.I followed some advice here on changing margins and now I need to reset it to the default setting and I now cannot remember the original dimensions for printing.  - send-to-many problems Folks: Entourage 10.1.4 (the latest, I think) on MacOS 10.2.8. Entourage does everything right, no problems, until... Trying to put together some mailing lists, one of them with 83 addresses in a group, and 46 in a second group. I composed a message for each group and troubles started: (1) Can't clear addresses out of a group, can't select-all and "clear". Must delete the entire group and start fresh. Annoyance. (2) Put one of the groups as a recipient of a message and close the To: dialog box. When I return to that box, I get a message The action could not be completed. An unknown error (4363) occurred. followed by an Entourage crash. Reliably I'll be glad to supply a crash log. This appears to mean that Entourage is unstable with a large group in the To: list. Partial mitigation: I've found if I save (cmd-s) before doing anything further then I can edit in the To: dialog without crashing. OK, got messages to each group with proper addressing, all ready to go. Send the first (83 recipients) and it appears to go out OK. Try to send the second.. (3) When I try to send to the group, I get an error dialog Error: Mail could not be sent using the account "New SPACEBBS" Explanation: An unknown error (4363) occurred. Error: 4363 and the message is stuck in the outbox. But I'm pretty sure "Progress" showed quite a bit of action when I hit "Send". Now not only do I have a stuck message, but I'm not sure if it has been sent successfully to some recipients. Entourage gives the same error number for what are obviously two completely different problems!!! I would expect that Entourage could tell me more about what's going on in each of these cases. If Entourage has some kind of limit on the size of groups, well, there are better responses than these. If the problem is a garbled address in one group, then Entourage should tell me. Unless I missed something the MVP FAQ and the links I consulted from it are not informative on these kinds of problems. What's going on?  - Issue with how Entourage shows text from previous emails I find Entourage X very frustrating in the way it lists the previous text on an email that has been replied to numerous times by two parties involved in the message. When I receive an email, and choose to reply to it, my reply is typed below the original text; then when they reply, the previous message is indented, and their reply is above their original text, when I reply, my reply is again typed at the bottom. When I print out the last email in the chain, it is very difficult to tell who replied, when, and in what order - it's like trying to figure out a puzzle! Am I the only one with this problem? I am used to Outlook on a PC which places each reply in chronological order starting with most recent and ending with the original email text.  - address book column problems Two problems with list view of address book contacts. 1. I changed the name of a custom field by double-clicking a contact, opening its window, choosing the "work" tab, clicking on the "custom 5" field label and changing its name in the window that opened up. Since then, the new field label shows up in every contact card I open, but NOT in the list view column label, and not in the View/columns menu choice, and not in the contextual menu that allows for column field choice. In all these places it is still labeled as "custom 5." 2. In a perhaps related issue, when I click on a column in the list view in order to sort the list with it, the sort is very speedy on most of the columns, but takes an unacceptable 7-8 seconds on the mis-named "custom 5" column.  - Lost Email My bosses iMac crashed and after doing an OS 9.1 reinstall the email was gone. I have found the database files in 2 locations, 1 in documents:Microsoft:Identities and another under the Microsoft Office folder. However niether of these files seem to contain his email. Somehow Microsoft Office created 2 set of these files and I am wondering if the database files were overwritten. Has anyone successfully recovered from this problem, if so how was it accomplished.  - Microsoft - Please update the Technet instructions as of Sept 23, 2003, The 'How to set up Entourage' instructions on the MS Knowledge Base, Mactopia and Microsoft Technet are for Entourage 2001. It's aggravating to have to pick thru it for Entourage X. Could an MVP reading this please request the instructions be upgraded to reflect the differences in the set up?  - Calendar problems with Entourage I came in to the office this morning and suddenly when I click on the calendar button in Entourage, I get an error message saying "Could not open that feature.  - Can't see inbound mail in Entourage X Entourage X sends e-mail, but won't SHOW received mail. The account works, we can see inbound e-mail on OWA (Outlook Web Access). What must I do to make Entourage show inbound e-mail? Is it in the app? Is there some system setting? We have 2 proxies (Web and Secure). Our ports match the Entourage defaults.  - Truncated mails Hi, Since a coupe of days I experience a severe problem with my Entourage (v. 10.1.4) for OSX (v. 10.2.6) (All English versions). My outgoing emails gets truncated after approx. 9 lines (or shorter with HTML fonts). Initially, attaching documents worked but now they also get lost during sending. I have tried to through out old mails and rebuild the database using both standard and advanced rebuild; however, without success. My database is approx. 275Mb. I believe the problem first appeared after installing the Office upgrades 10.1.4 and 10.1.5. I now also encounter crashes of Word and Explorer more often than before. Have anyone experienced a similar problem or knows if there is a virus attacking Office for OSX? I¹m very glad for all comments!  - System Crash: Lost Entourage Data I have finaly got my system up and runing with 10.2.6, although have lost faith in Apple along the way... anyway to the current issue...... I have had daily crashing problems. Basicly screen fills with text and must reset. I thought i had it beat when a week ago when I updated the Pioneer103 firmware to 1.49, for a week i had no problems. Today it crashed twice. Apart from wanting to sort out the crashing problem (no it's not memory), I am trying to recover my Entourage email first. It's all gone. All the configuration, mail and attachments. I am assuming the mail is held in the file users/userid/documents/microsoft user data/office x identities/main indentity/database. Is there ANY way to recover it? It is now about 400k in size. I have not tried to reconfigure it. I do have a backup from 7 days ago (Carbon Copy Clone), but I would prefer to have ALL my email. If i have to revert to the backup, can i just copy the file back?  - HTML links I've just set up my new G5, and the only problem I've had in moving my Entourage over from my old machine is that now any links from within the body of an email don't work. I can't find a preference to control this, and when I paste the links into a Word document they work fine. Anyone got any ideas?  - damaged database on Entourage Hi, I wondered if someone copuld help me? My entourage email account at work will not let me in as it's telling me there is a problem with my database and do I want to rebuild? I have tried basic and advanced rebuild but it wont let me do it because of a 'compacting error'. I have had a call out firm have a look at it and the problem seems to be my database is too big.  - "Microsoft" mail viruses... Hey all, Is anyone else getting emails that are supposedly from microsoft? Things like "network updates" and "security patches" with some .exe attached, I'm getting about 60 a day, each time from a different address (they are obviously not from microsoft.) Also, I get a hell of allot of emails saying mail delivery has failed for an address I've never seen before, with an .exe attached as well. Apparently these emails are coming from people's machines that don¹t know they are sending these "viruses", Well I delete all of them, never tried to open the files. My question: do you guys think that I'm infected as well? 2ndly, how the hell can I stop these mails from coming to me, I don¹t want to use the junk mail filter since I will never be able to remember _all_ the addresses I _want_ to get mail from, what would be great if there would be a feature where you could ban an address, like you get a mail, right click, and choose "block this address".  - Why don't my RULES work ? I've been getting tons of spam the past few days, most of it purporting to be security notices from Microsoft and stuff like that. Much of it uses the same TO: address, like Inet Client, Mail Client, Net Receiver, etc. Also a lot of it has been run through my ISP's screener and has a message about something called brightmail virus screening in the body of the message. I set up some rules in Entourage such as: If message body contains brightmail delete message Or If only recipient contains Inet Client delete message Etc (should I be using "only recipient" or "any to recipient") YET I still am getting these emails. They end up in my junk mail box, but are not being deleted. What is going on with these rules? They don't seem to be functioning.  - Tungsten T2 problems I upgraded from a handspring deluxe to a palm Tungsten T2 and now syncing is a disaster. Sometimes, it syncs my address book for a while only for me to find everything out of alphabetical order in my address book (thank god for the backup chip and restore function). Now I have noticed that NONE of the contacts' addresses in entourage have made the move into my new palm, just the phone numbers. I have tried to re-map and it won't let me unless I am importing. I can't import b/c everything is already in entourage. Also, I was wondering if anyone had any problems w/ vindigo, entourage, & tungsten. That also is a disaster. They all go to the deleted folder using the Junk mail filter but the Junk mail filter also transfers most of my good mail also.  - Rule for Rejecting Messages with .exe attachments I could use some help creating a rule to delete anything that comes in with a .exe attachment. The MS Security Patch things (1000++ messages) are killing me. The Entourage X Junk mail filter catches 99% and puts them in the Junk Mail folder. This is good! I would love a rule the will reject anything with a .exe file attached. By reject I mean do not accept the file. Can Entourage X handle such a rule?  - Wrong attachment sent I am using OS 10.2.6 and Entourage 10.1.1. Just recently I sent an email with a .pdf attachment and got a message from the receiving party that the attachment received was not the file I sent but actually a Excel file that had nothing remotely to do with the email of the attachment.  - mail server setup error password length hotmail Hello, I just created an identity for my wife in Entourage v.X SR1 (10.1.1 (2418)). When I clicked on the hotmail icon to get the messages for her, it said there was a mail server setup error because hotmail requires at least 8 characters for a password. Huh? It works just fine on Outlook Express 6 on our PC. We tried to send an e-mail message and it did so (we checked it soon after on the PC) but it continues to pop up with this "mail server setup password error" and not show the mail in the inbox. This is frustrating to say the least. It seems the program flags a saved password of less than 8 character with an "error" regardless if it works. Has anybody experienced this? How do I fix this?  - rcpthosts problem Hi, so I'm trying to set up an SMTP relay through a new domain name, and I'm using the recommended outgoing SMTP server but I get an error 5553 "Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts." I've checked the FAQ, which say to turn off the 'check names' in the compose preferences. I've tried that and it doesn't make a difference. I've checked with the support at godaddy.com, where I registered teh domain name, and as far as I can tell, I've done everything I'm supposed to. So the problem seems to be with Entourage. There is a message which I can't delete and when I attempt to delete it, I

Try disabling the Preview Pane (View -> Preview Pane), and then deleting the
message.

If that doesn't work, download and install the latest Office X updates,
which are 10.1.2, 10.1.4, and 10.1.5 (10.1.3 is unnecessary). They¹re
available from Microsoft.

If that doesn't work, try rebuilding the database and then attempting a
delete with the Preview Pane off. To rebuild the database, first, go to
Entourage -> Turn Off Office Notifications. Now, quit Entourage, and then
restart Entourage holding down the Option key. When the Rebuild dialog box
comes up, choose to do a Typical Rebuild.
