It sounds like there might be permissions problems on your wife's user
folder or some subfolder.
First try selecting her ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004
Identities/Main Identity/Database file, do a get Info, check Permissions. It
should say Read & Write. If not, change it. If it doesn't let you, click the
triangle "Details", make sure that your wife's username is listed as Owner,
then change to Read & Write. (If the main identity name has been changed,
the folder will have the changed name too.)
That should fix it, but the problem might be on a folder further up the
chain. Since you're in Tiger (this doesn't work in Panther), and since
_everything_ in the user folder should be Read & Write, I'd go right up to
the Home (username) folder, set that to Read & Write, then click "Apply to
enclosed items" at bottom of Details. (Or you could move up folder by
folder, but why not do it all at once? I'm sure you'll need to do it for the
Main Identity folder, at any rate.)
