Recently, I tried to attach a folder to an email and I kept getting an =
error=20
message that Aladdin Stuffit was required to send folders, which I do =
have=20
installed. Has anyone else run into this problem or know of a solution?

I am running Office X 10.1.4 on OSX 10.3.4 Panther

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

You can't attach a folder to an email.

It¹s trying to tell you that you would have to turn the folder into a file
(by compressing it using Stuffit or ZipIt).

It's not referring to Stuffit Expander but rather to the Stuffit Engine that
does the stuffing, not the expanding. That too (the engine) now comes with
the OS. Folders must be compressed, and Entourage is meant to just let you
do it. I'm not sure why you'd be getting that error.

In your startup disk's Library (not /System/Library, just /Library), is
there a CFMSupport folder, and a StuffitEngineShell.cfm file within that?
What version?

I encountered this same problem with Entourage today. I thought that
it was because my version of Stuff-It was too old for my OSX, so I
upgraded to v 8. After paying for it, downloading it, and installing
it, I still had the problem, and thus started searching the web for
some answers. I found your post but there was no answer, so I kept
looking. I came across this in the Aladdin support section:

davidmac-

My mistake, I meant to send you the link to the 6.5.1 OS X version.
Use this link:

ftp://ftp.aladdinsys.com/archive/mac/StuffIt_Lite/lite_651_x_install.dmg

Entrourage is looking for an older Stuffit Engine in
/Library/Application Support.

I did as suggested above and it's working fine now. I hope this helps
you. Good luck!

Well, I had good intentions, but I'm obviously not up to speed on Entourage.
It would never occur to me to try to send a folder as an attachment. I would
stuff it first and then attach it. So I never noticed that Entourage would
do it automatically.

Hope I am still batting .500 on my help attempts this morning. I wouldn't
put money on it though.
