 - Known font incompatibilities? Here's a separate problem with the same Mac using Entourage and OS X Tiger on an iMac G5. Entourage's "Database Daemon" would consistently lock up when Entourage was launched. No way to avoid it. After reinstalling and updating Entourage the problem persisted. Suspecting fonts I went in to FontBook and turned off all the foreign language fonts. From that point forward the program works fine.  - Alarms when entourage not running I am running entourage trial version on my new ibook (just switch from Windows). I tried ical but unacknowledged alarms are not carried over to the next day like with Outlook so I'm trying Entourage. I set an alarm last night for 8AM this morning.  - Reply All failsafe? Hey folks I'm sure we've all done it - hit "Reply All" when we meant "Reply" and sometimes gotten ourselves into some trouble or uncomfortable situations. Though nothing has happened to be damaging, I'm afraid that day will come so was hoping to write a rule that would bring up a notification when the Reply All button is clicked that says "Are you sure you want to Reply All?"  - "Download Pictures" link does not work. Impossible to view pictures in html emails. The problem I'm having is that I cannot download the pictoral content that arrives in html emails - even when I click on the "To protect your privacy, some pictures in this message were not downloaded. Download Pictures" link. When I click on that, all that happens is that the "Download Pictures" link disappears after a few moments - all the images in the email document continue to remain as red X's. This is happening on about a dozen Mac workstations in a corporation that is otherwise Windows only. We are using the Server edition of Entourage (see below): Mac OS X vers. 10.4.3 (it is also happening on some workstations with OS X 10.3) Entourage 2004 for Mac version 11.1.0 (Server edition) My Admins are all Windows guys and can't help with the Mac stuff.  - "Beach Ball" Constantly Going I have noticed that after I use Enourage for a while, the dreaded "spinning beach ball" starts appearing anytime I start to send a message, and it just seems to be worse. If I quit out of Entourage, it is better for a while and then quickly becomes almost unusable. I have a Gig of RAM and plenty of disk space, so I don't think a computer issue.  - Lost All Addresses when sinc between Entourage and Palm I just downloaded the mactopia conduit between Entourage and Palm. I had selected to sinc but when it was finished, all my data was gone from both the Palm and my computer (MAC OS10). Does anyone have any idea how I can get that data back?  - Meeting Event Attendee Update I am wondering if there is a way to choose to send updates to meeting attendee lists only to the attendees that have been added or deleted. This ability is found in Windows version of Outlook and is extremely helpful. The default behavior of Entourage is to send an updated event to everyone and I haven't found a way to change that.  - Disabling LDAP use I'm having trouble figuring out why Entourage keeps re-adding an LDAP server to the account preferences. I just cleared out BigFoot and it was added back a few days later. Is there a place I can disabling this auto-adding of an LDAP server. Finding a way to have Entourage ignore the presence of BigFoot would be another way to speed up the email sending experience.  - entourage cannot use a secure connection to set delegation I am trying to set up someone as a delegate and I am getting a warning message stating: "Entourage cannot use a secure connection to set delegation options" Then when I try to make the delegation I set an error of "Entourage cannot connect to the Exchange server (Error :65486) We are using SSL to communicate to a front end server.  - entourage 2004 missing mail We are using Exchange 2000 server and mostly Mac clients. We are looking at going to Entourage 2004 but we have seen problems with the messages that contain extra characters in the subject. When I say extra characters I mean exclamation points, extra periods, and other items other than normal text. Has anyone seen this and if so does anyone know a fix for it?  - archiving question In Outlook on a PC, it will pop up a window stating that you have a lot of old emails, "would you like to archive them now?" It then lets you archive based on date. Does anyone know if Entourage will allow the Main Identity folder to be stored on a file server so that a user can open their mail from multiple machines?  - Hiding just flagged emails on IMAP server I am new to this whole owning a Mac and have office 2k4. Now, when I was a Winblows user, I had Outlook2k3 and that would allow me to see just read and unread emails with the flagged ones being hidden. What I am after is whether I can do the same on here.  - Completely messed up I need Entourage help bad. It's a simple problem I'm sure, but I'm not terribly tech-adept, so please give me very simple instructions. I've been using Entourage for months on my Mac (OSX 10.3.9), without problems. One day, I got the message " This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage." Okay, somebody told me that all I needed to do was download the Service Pack 2 (11.2.0.) I did. No help. I dumped all my Entourage files and rebooted from my CD. (It's a student-teacher edition.) Still nothing. If someone can give me very simple step by step instructions (assuming no computer skills on my part) on how to beat this and restore Entourage, I will be hugely grateful. Using an Exchange (2003) account, new mail is not delivered to the Exchange Inbox; instead it is being moved to the inbox of "Local Folders on My Computer". Very annoying for the user.  - remove automatically added names to the address book After years of using microsoft products, including it's mail programs, we've accumilated a lot of names in our address book that we just don't want, or ever wanted in there, actually. What I mean is, is not a name we manually go in and add, but those names that entourage automatically adds when we receive an email. Is there a way to remove those names?  - Entourage database not recognized Overnight there was a power failure which shut the computer down. So this morning on one machine, Entourage is no longer recognizing the database, wanting to set up an account all over again. Disk verifies OK, so I tried rebuilding, both typical and advanced. Almost immediately the rebuild terminated, saying everything OK. But no -- database still gone. Am I screwed, or is there some way to get this thing back?  - Entourage set up and address book issues I'm a new Mac user. There are some things which were basic and staightforward to do on my PC (in Outlook Express), but which I can't seem to sort out in Entourage X! I'd really appreciate some help: 1. How do I forward an email as an attachment without opening it (eg I suspect an email "from my bank" to be fraudulent, and I want to send it to my bank for verification, but without opening it in case it contains a virus). 2. Can I attach a 'request read receipt' to the emails I send (ie an automatic message accompanies my email with a request to the receiver to confirm that they've received my email). 3. Is it possible to get the address book to automatically add the addresses of everyone I send an email to? 4.  - Another Entourage "I want" First of all, I don't use "Projects" because, frankly, it does things I don't want, doesn't access information the way I tend to access mine, and it's just one more thing for me to do and keep track of. I tried it for a while, and I just didn't like it. Even clicking the "Associate Project Contacts" button was inconsistently implemented. Also, I keep copies of my outgoing email with the project. So... In my "Folders on My Computer" in Entourage, I have created another folder called "Business" for my clients' emails and mine to them. Each client gets his own subfolder. All ingoing and outgoing emails for that client go in there. After a project is done, I'd like to be able to archive a single folder to a folder in my business/clients/[insert client's folder name] folder on my hard drive, so I have the history of emails for that client, but I don't have those emails taking up space in my Entourage database anymore, especially as I get more clients. Makes it tidier in my mind. Instead, if I want to do an archive of my email, I have to archive the entire bloody email content, not just one folder. I hate that. Does that make sense?  - Entourage crashes when printing calendar lists I read earlier posts on this topic and tried deleting the "Printing forms" folder under Microsoft User Data before opening entourage but it hasn't helped. I tried using a different layout other than the default 8.5x11 but that hasn't helped either. My issues seems a bit different that those described earlier because I can see a preview of the calendar list, and everything works fine until I try to adjust the dates. Then entourage crashes completely. I've been using the program since January and have only started having this problem recently. I have loaded the most recent Office update, but it hasn't helped either. I am running Office 2004 v.11.2 on Mac OS X v. 10.3.9 I am not having any other problems with entourage or office.  - Entourage on exchange and newsgroups Hello, I am running Entourage 11.2.1 in full Exchange mode. Aside from large mailboxes, sent items and deleted items slowing down performance, things work fairly well, however I have also been reading more of my newsgroups via Entourage as well and over the last week have noticed more and more spinning ball, and sluggishness and hanging in the application. I know that when this first happened after I applied Srv Pack 2 and the latest patch, performance increased after I cleaned out my DEL and SENT items, and pruned my mailboxes.  - Unable to archive a project All of a sudden, Entourage is not allowing me to Backup/Export archive one of my projects (either through the File=Archive=Choose project or from within the Overview pane of that project using the Backup button). I've never had thisHere's the error I get: Right after I designate a folder in which to save the archive... "Entourage did not export all of your data. You stopped the export process before it was completed." Strangely, I did no such thing. This happens to my sales project and it's quite extenstive. I hope I can back it up.  - Error message 4.5.3 Too many recipients Here is a new one on me. I am trying to send an email to 2 groups of email addressees -- one about 40 addresssees and the other about 60 addressees. The email has an 86K attachment. The groups are set to NOT display names of each group member in the To: line, so the To: line just includes the name of each group. When I try to send the email, I am returned an errror message that says 4.5.3 Too Many Recipients; Mail could not be sent. In the bottom left-hand corner of the error box is the number -17099. I know there has been a lot written about this issue but I am still unable to open Entourage without getting the "Unable to establish secure connection...because the correct root certificate is not installed." Here (after reading countless white papers, howto's, KBs and newgroups) is what I did. Any idea why I still get the message? Got the warning message and selected always trust this source. Opened Keychain Access and saw that myserver.mydomain.office was listed as a valid certificate. 2. Opened Entourage and manually setup account: Account ID: [Login ID to my server] Password: [Password associated with this login] Domain: MYDOMAIN Checked "Save password..." Exchange Server: https://myserver.mydomain.office/exchange Checked "This DAV service requires...(SSL)" Public Folders Server: https://myserver.mydomain.office/public Checked "This DAV service requires...(SSL)" LDAP server: https://myserver.mydomain.office Checked "This server requires me to log in" Default LDAP port 3268 3. Re-opened Entourage and got the "Unable to establish..." message. 4. Connected to server share smb://myserver/ClientApps. From the SBScert folder, dragged sbscert.cer to the KeyChain Access icon in Finder. Selected X509Anchors. Got a message that this certificate already existed.  - Blank Attachments Our office is using Office 2001, and recently ran the 9.0.6 update. Now we occasionally (more often than not) get blank attachments, especially pdf documents from our network scanner. The message shows it has an attachment, but when the attachment is opened it is blank. I've heard of the same issue with Outlook express, but don't know how to fix it (a setting in the preferences?). Whenever I have new emails coming in (from my Exchange account), they are being delivered in the Inbox on the "Folders on My Computer". Is there a way to have it go back to where it shoud be, that is on the Exchange's Inbox account? Without deleting the profile and recreating it? I have a large profile and am transfering it over the Internet, which is pretty long. I see nothing on support.microsoft.com related to this. I've seen posts of people having this problem with their (or a similar problem) hotmail account and removing their keychain information for hotmail and MSN appeared to have solved their problem.  - Entourage's handling of: Cc Sent Messages from TREO/Highlighted I've set-up my Treo's mail program to Cc all sent messages so I will have a copy stored. I do not have any rules set-up in Entourage but when a sent message from my Treo gets Cc into Entourage it automatically gets put into the "Sent" IMAP folder and is highlighted. When I "Mark As Read" it stays highlighted. Could anyone tell me why Entourgae automatically moves these to the "Sent" folder on my IMAP Server (which is great- I don't need a rule) and is there anyway to get rid of the highlighted message?  - More on Delegation Server Issue (BTW, this is using Entourage 11.2.1 with all the associated Exchange 2003 patches installed) I'm really having absolutely no luck with this. I tried UI scripting Entourage, but the "Edit Account" dialogue doesn't want to play and seems to be exhibiting some truly bizarre behavior. Does anybody know if what I'm trying to do here is even remotely possible (set a separate delegation server to the stated exchange server), or it just something that is currently utterly un-scriptable?  - Sending a delayed email, but with correct timestamps I'd like to send a mail in the future, but without the fuss and bother of creating a time machine to do it! I'm using IMAP, and have recently switched from a PC. Using Outlook I can do this by clicking "Options" on a mail I'm composing, and choosing a "Do not deliver before" time. This, combined with a timed send/receive every 15 minutes or so is enough to do what I want: Reply to mails at 10pm at night, but actually send them at 9am in the morning. This works great, perfect for running a home business ostensibly within working hours. Entourage has this option too: "Send Later". If I set up a Send schedule only within working hours, anything in the outbox sent at 10pm won't go until the first send of the day, 9am. Except on the Mac, the send time in the message header isn't altered. Open the mail, and it shows it has been sent at 10pm. Not so good. Fear ye not I thought, alter the date with a trusty Applescript, and put that in your schedule before the send action. Here's what I created: tell application "Microsoft Entourage" set theMsgs to messages in (folder "Outbox") repeat with theMsg in theMsgs set time sent of theMsg to current date set time received of theMsg to current date --might as well end repeat end tell This actually seems to work if I run the script manually, but when in a schedule - nada. I've also tried to manipulate the header as text with a lengthier script, but it appears to be read-only. Is there a better way to do this? Perhaps my script isn't quite correct?  - Entourage locks up - I have a small (non-junk) message in my junk-mail folder (Entourage 2004) which locks up the app when I try to open it, and which I can't delete (it won't drag to the deleted items folder).  - error -17796 too many matches and other ldap weirdness Hi All, Running 11.2.1 Entourage client. Our Exchange server is not running Exchange 2003 SP2 yet as the admins are nervous to upgrade. I setup a new directory service with the same info I use in Apple's Address Book. Only info being server and search base. When I don't fill in a search base, I get the -17768 error and can't connect to the directory server at all. When I search for a name that returns a modest amount of entires (40 or so will do it, have yet to find the lower bounds) I get an error, -17796 saying there were too many matches. I tried tweaking the Maximum Number of Results setting to no avail. anyone? It also appears to me that Entourage is only looking at the default email address when looking up users on my ldap server. If I am searching for "Jason User", and his default email address is "jusr@colorado.edu" I will recieve no results. However if I search for "usr" or "jus" I will have his entry returned. Our users defulat email address vary, sometimes being in the format First.Middle.Last@ and sometimes simply being the short username, user@. Address Book will find users based on default email address as well as full name details with the same ldap settings. I'd love to hear an explanation to this that isn't "It's the way you are setting up ldap entries" :-! I'd love to hear from anyone at MS about this as I can't find mention of this too many entries error anywhere... and any light that can be shed on the ldap searching weirdness (such as what exactly Entourage is quering against) would be great! It's my understanding that when I get a new email message the Entourage
icon will bounce on my dock. This has never worked for me. I am running
OS 10.4.3 on a 20" iMac G5 with the latest version of Entourage. I have
the "animate icon" tab clicked in preferences. What am I doing wrong?

What you're doing wrong is checking your mail manually, in Entourage. So
you don't need notifying, and therefore nothing is happening. To need
notifying, you'd have to be working in some other program, with
Entourage doing a background check by means of a timed/repeated
schedule. m.
