We have noticed a different behaviour between the Windows Server 2003 x64 and
x86 SCSI fibre channel drivers.

Is this the appropriate discussion group for this type of question?

If you are developing the driver yes, if not go to one of the windows
support groups, this group is for driver developers.

This question may only be answered by a Windows Server 2003 SCSI fibre
channel driver developer.

We are a SCSI fibre channel target device, and noticed that specifically
Windows Server 2003 x64 SCSI fibre channel drivers do not respond to a device
check condition, with a SCSI "request sense" command.

We believe that the x64 driver expects the target device to support
"auto-sense". Since we are returning no sense data with the check condition,
we expect the host to understand this as a SCSI device with no "auto-sense"
support and must harvest the check condition sense data with a SCSI request
sense command.

Finally, the question.

Does Windows Server 2003 SCSI fibre channel x64 driver require target
devices to support "auto-sense"?

We are moving ahead to support the "auto-sense" capability, but would still
like to determine if Microsoft has determined that this is required on all
x64 SCSI fiber channel target devices.

Regards, Dave
