Is source code available for the "unsupported" Virtual CDRom Control Panel
driver? This is the MS utility that will mount an ISO image as a device. Is
there an open source equivalent?

Umm, I didn't even know MS provides such a tool - good to know! Found
it here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/faq/
-> "What are ISO image files and how do I use them?"
-> "Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP"

While this driver works "as advertised", it is not without a little annoying
bug.
Virtual drives created by it do not appear in "My Computer" namespace.
Sometimes it is just impossible to browse there from Find toolbar.
(I am clueless in filesystem stuff so have no idea what is missing ).

It doesn't appear to work on x64 systems either :(

Oops, had x64 on the brain, I actually haven't tested it there yet.

I meant to say that it doesn't appear to work on the 32-bit Vista Beta 1
from MSDN :(
