    - How to play sound in Avssamp??     - about SCSI command Hi, I may post this message to a wrong place but I think I can get the answer here. I tried to send a SCSI command, Request Sense, to a SCSI disk logic unit, but there are two buffers, one is the data buffer and the other is the sense data buffer. Which buffer should be used for this command? I red in the document of SPC-2 and is still puzzled at it. It seems that the sense buffer is used only for autosense situation.     - Malformed TCP packets I have an application that uses overlapped sockets. I run two instances of the application on different PCs; one instance connects to another, then both instances exchange some data. I am having troubles with certain PCs, which send out malformed TCP packets with wrong TCP checksums or IP headers partially overwritten by user data. The problem happens with Win2k SP3 machines, and SP4 seems to help. Now I have an XP SP1 machine (A) and XP SP2 machine (B). When A connects to B, all works fine. When B connects to A (i.e. A is listening), then some TCP packets coming out of A are malformed. When two instances of the appliction are running on A, all is fine. Other XP SP1 and 2003 machines work fine. So it must be something wrong with the machine A. Even if I did something wrong in my user-mode program, this woudn't affect the packet headers, would it? Is it possible to get the list of all the drivers in the TCP stack? I would then compare the stacks on A and B to see if there's any difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks.     - CreateFile() on NDIS Protocol Driver failes for Regular User Accou Hi, I wrote NDIS Protocol Driver based on NDISUIO DDK sample. It works fine but only under "Administrators" accounts. Under normal user ("Power Users", "Backup Operators") CreateFile() fails with error 5 (access denied). NDISUIO does the same. I called MS Technical Support and the guy there trying to tell me that all communication drivers work only under Admin.??? Does not seem to make any sence. After unsuccessful programmatic attempt to AdjustPriviledges() LogonUser() ImpersonateLoggedonUser()... I have tried to change INF, but with no success (I could be wrong there).     - NdisMQueryAdapterResources() : resource allocation problem at WinMe Hi, I am stuck with a similar problem (as mentioned below in one of the older postings). Driver works with XP and 2K. Infact it works with WinME installed on PC where I use PCI-Cardbus(Ricoh) controller to insert my cardbus wireless lan controller. It doesn't work with WinME (on IBM Thinkpad A21m laptop). My NdisMQueryAdapterResources() returns only one resource i.e. interrupt. Using debugger command 'pci' I see that BAR seems to be mapped. No difference when I use NdisMPciAssignResources() wrt number of resources but here I get IO enabled in addition to BusMaster and Memory (i.e. control word 0x7 in NdisMPCIAssignResources() against 0x6 in NdisMQueryAdapterResources() . There is one imp print in the debugger in the reboot that follows crash because of pci-bar not getting mapped. It says"VPICD Severe Perf Warning: interrupt #9 is supriousing. Get the owners of the devices on that interrupt to look at their code." This problem exists till I don't shutdown the m/c and start. Device manager shows that 'SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus' is the interrupt that prompts that warning. My device is on interrupt 0xB. Don't know whether this problem is linked to above resource allocation problem. Hi Daum, Found you query in this ng. Did you get the solution for this ?     - DrvFillPath Hi When Windows calls my DrvFillPath function of my printer driver, it passes (sometimes) more than 6000 subpaths (MoveEx, Polyline, Polyline, CloseFigure).... so my question now: Where does this come from? Just from one command? Or did the creating application call the FillPath fuction several times? ... 6000 times? Or how's this handled? But the driver can't support more than one device in the same system. The error code is 31. did there anybody ever had the same problem?     - Setting WPA key by OID_802_11_xxx Hello, I am trying to set WPA key using OID_802_11_xx OIDs. I set following OIDs in order OID_802_11_INFRASTRUCTURE_MODE to Ndis802_11Infrastructure OID_802_11_AUTHENTICATION_MODE to Ndis802_11AuthModeWPAPSK OID_802_11_WEP_STATUS to Ndis802_11Encryption2Enabled OID_802_11_ADD_KEY using output of PBKDF2("KT12345678",ssid,ssidlength,4096,256) algorithm (to get 256 bits key from "KT12345678" preshared ASCII key ) OID_802_11_SSID using ssid But there is something wrong with EAPOL 4-way handshake communication. AP stays in authentication phase so I can not get IP address from DHCP server. Do I use wrong key algorithm or my order of OIDs is not correct? I saw that people are sending two OID_802_11_ADD_KEY OIDs after OID_802_11_SSID OID and it works. Could someone tell me at which moment these two OIDs are sent and what is used as WPA key (preshared or output of PBKDF2 algorithm)? I do not understand who is responsible for WPA authentication, client software or wireless driver. If I send WEP key to wireless driver everything is Ok (driver takes key, authentication process is done by driver and I get IP address from AP) but with WPA it is not case.     - passthu problem again. hi, a few days ago i posted a query regarding pasthru IM driver not transmittng larger packets. Mr. Thomas Devine pointed out the article at the following link : http://www.ndis.com/pcakb/KB05280101.htm, but even when i return NDIS_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED for OID_TCP_TASK_OFFLOAD in the MPQueryInformation() , the problem persists. any more suggestions ? i have a hunch that this has got something to do with MTU. when i access larger files across the network, the passthru sends the packets of the size of MTU and when i append my own headers, the size gets larger than the MTU and ultimately results in the rejection of the packet. can anybody tell me how i can make the top level network driver to send the packets with size a little less than the MTU so that i can accomodate my headers without exceeding the MTU for NIC ?? thanks in advance. regards. I was going through the Microsoft DDK site and it mentions that future driver development must be done with the Windows Server 2003 DDK. So, I have installed this DDK and on going through the samples have come across a driver for an Intel USB Camera. This sample is located in the "...\WINDDK\3790\src\wdm\videocap\usbintel\sys". folder. On going through this example I find that it is based on USBCAMD and on the "stream class" architecture. The "USBCAMD" is fine, but the "stream class architecture" is not. The DDK documentation states that the "stream class architecture" should no longer be used, though it is still provided. The document states that new video drivers must follow the "AVstream architecture". I now know, among other things, that MPHalt can be called without PtUnbind ever being called. Unfortunately, however, it didn't address my issue. I believe my question boils down to this: 1. Does NDIS serialize PNP events with respect to send/receive paths? 2. If not, is it a requirement that a packet does not leave the driver from an edge that is in low power? If the answers are 1)no and 2)yes, as I suspect they are, then I believe we have a bug in the PASSTHRU driver. As always, I am very grateful for any insight anybody may have on this. I renamed them to unidrv.dll,unidrvui.dll. Now I went to the XP ddk and built the koemuni.dll. For the common buffer master/slave DMA driver, the "AllocateCommonBuffer" is
used to allocate non-paged contiguous memory. Does anyone know the maximum
size of non-paged contiguous memory could be allocated by
"AllocateCommonbuffer"? If there are 10 or more devices in the PC, what is
the maximum size of accumulated non-page contiguous memory?
