    - Audio and Video Drivers on XP Sorry if this is not the right newsgroup. I haven't found any better one. I have a video card and an audio card, a friend of mine installed the drivers for me and they are perfectly working. Now I have lost the CDs, I don't know the name of the manifactures, and I need to completely reinstall the system (too full of crap). Could you tell me what I can do to save on a CD the necessary files (already installed) so that after formatting I can just add the drivers from those files/Cd?     - DrvDocumentPropertySheets Hi When I get a call to DrvDocumentPropertySheets (PrinterDriver) and the reason is PROPSHEETUI_REASON_INIT. What do I have to do? ... I have to create the propertysheet-pages... ok, that's obvious... and do I also have to copy the pdmIn? (so, can there be a pdmIn?) ... and what about the pdmOut? ... do I have to store the pdmOut-Pointer to store the data later? when? When I get another call to DrvDocumentPropertySheet with the Destroy-Reason? ... or do I have to store this earlier? Next question... how can I find out, if someone pressed OK and not Cancel? ...     - who stores the printer driver settings? Hi Little question about printer driver settings: When you open the printing dialog e.g. in an application like Notepad, then you can make some settings for the current print job. (so the DEVMODEW doesn't leave the applications-process)... but when you open the "printers and fax"-folder (I don't know the exact name of this in english), you are changing the global settings for the printer. Every new job starts then with those settings. But who does store this? Is this the job of my printer driver or does windows automatically do it? If I have to store it myself, how could I find out, what application caused my propertysheets to be created?     - wFrameRate of KSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_S not returned to user app Hi all, I've got a WDM capture driver that supports the KSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_READER property set that returns the timecode correctly within the dwFrames portion of the TIMECODE structure but wFrameRate doesn't seem to be passed back with the value I filled in. In my driver I get a pointer to the output buffer to fill in as follows:- PKSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_S pTimecode = (PKSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_S)pSPD->PropertyInfo; I make sure the output buffer is big enough before I return it:- if (pSPD->PropertyOutputSize >= sizeof(KSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_S)) And then I write to the output buffer after I work out what to return as follows:- pTimecode->TimecodeSamp.timecode.dwFrames = dwFrames ; pTimecode->TimecodeSamp.timecode.wFrameRate = wFrameRate ; pTimecode->TimecodeSamp.timecode.wFrameFract = 0 ; For a PAL source I set wFrameRate to ED_FORMAT_SMPTE_25 which should be 0x1198. In the user app I call the GetTimecode() method of the IAMTimecodeReader interface on my capture filter/driver. I first initialise a TIMECODE_SAMPLE structure with unique values, e.g. wFrameRate = 0xDEAD. Then a pointer to this structure is passed to the GetTimecode() call. After the call the dwFrames is updated correctly with the correct timecode. However, wFrameRate is still set to 0xDEAD. I've proven that the output buffer of my driver has wFrameRate set to 0x1198 which corresponds to ED_FORMAT_SMPTE_25 before the driver returns. The amount of data returned by driver is :- pSrb->ActualBytesTransferred = sizeof(KSPROPERTY_TIMECODE_S); I don't update anything else in this structure within my driver (e.g. I leave pTimecode->TimecodeSamp.dwFlags alone and indeed this is retuned with the same value I set in the user app of ED_DEVCAP_TIMECODE_READ which I also confirm in my app).     - about virtual audio driver Hi,everyone: I need to write a driver or filter or something like that to capture the audio data between audio card and user mode application, for I have to have these data changed before they are send to audio card from user mode or to user mode from audio card. I think i should write a virtual audio driver, right? Considering that user mode applications are from third party, which maybe use DirectSound or Windows Wave API (WaveInXXX, WaveOutXXX etc), my driver has to support both of conditions. I have studied DDK example msvad\simple, but not sure whether it's a proper start for my requirement. Can someone tell me what should i do and where should i begin?     - XP SP2 1394 problem with PCMCIA cards We have a FireWire problem with our new IBM laptops thay are preinstalled with XP SP2. The problem is that the connection to the scanners we produce gets reset during data transfer. Afterwards the connection is lost. We have observed the same problem with an external harddisk. All device are able to install and function in a limited extend, but after a short period of operation they fail during data transfer. We have observed the following: When using SP2 with an Adaptec AWF-1430 card the above problem occurs. When installing the SP1 drivers with that card everything works fine. Furthermore, if we use the Adaptec 1430A card with SP2 everything works fine. However, the 1430A card is discontinued and replaced by the 1430 card. All other cards we have tried also fail to run on SP2, whereas the SP1 drivers seem to work just fine.     - Asking for driver files Dear Sirs, I am trying to make my computer system(win me) to reconize the new digital camera(olympus d-535 zoom) I just bought. But, the disc that came with the camera won't download(error:-1603)and when just plugging the camera in, my computer asks for the millenium me disc for curtain files; 'USBNTMAP.SYS, USBSTOR.SYS, Musbport.pdr, olpubkcr.sys'. Since I bought my computer with this operating system already installed, I don't have a disc to retreive the information. What is wrong with my computer, or how do I get the usb\driver info?     - KsProxy interface aggregation. Hi guys, I'm tearing my hair out on this one! I have a rendering minidriver, and I want it to implement frame stepping, which is IVideoFrameStep to user mode, and AM_KSPROPSETID_FrameStep to the driver. The code I'm working on already has examples of custom interfaces aggregated via KsProxy to do property pages. However, in all those cases, the property set ID is the same as the user mode IID - and it works fine. However, when it comes to trying to get my new interface working, nothing happens! More specifically KsProxy seems to instantiate the user mode COM object in my helper DLL, but it never queries that same object for IVideoFrameStep, and trying to single step in GraphEdit does nothing. I suspect the problem may be due to confusion between IID's and Prop set ID's.     - Help! I can't play Mpeg2-TS in graphedit Hi, I've modified the testcap.sys to be a MPEG2 transport stream minidriver. Then I follow the steps described in http://www.codeproject.com/directx/MPEG2_Capture_Device.asp?df=100&forumid=59308&exp=0&select=869492 to build the whole graph in graphedit. My minidriver can connect to Microsoft Mpeg2 demultiplexer successfully. It also reply every SRB_READ_DATA request without any problem. But the problem is the ActiveMovie just displays black windows. I think I may make some mistakes in configuring the demultiplexer because the example in the above website is for program stream instead of transport stream. Could anyone give me some advice?     - Windows XP Spool File Name Hi, I've seen this question asked in a few places but not found an answer. Does anybody know how I can determine the physical spool file name attached to a specific job on the spool queue? On Windows 2000 it's built from the JobId but that is not the case on XP. I know I can get XP to revert to the old naming convention by setting Keep Printed Documents to True but I don't really want to have to impose that restriction on customers. I had to open file only & only once (after exchange of specific/special packet). Finally i got the solution...Packets passing NDIS passthru driver can have IRQL either PASSIVE_LEVEL or DISPATCH_LEVEL (as i have come to know).All i have done is call the NdisOpenFile() function when there is a packet with IRQL==PASSIVE_LEVEL. Earlier I had written - I'm getting ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED when I try to open a handle to the non - standard HID USB keyboard for which I have developed a minidriver. So the answer I got is - "Use the standard way the HID minidrivers of Logitech, Kensington etc use. Add a second interface to the driver (aka a side exit). Logitech etc use that side exit to split the mouse data into standard movement and clicks for Windows and extra buttons which are routed through the side exit to the tray application which implements the special assignments like playing a sound or starting an application etc." Sorry..but am not very clear about what u said..     - Lockup debugging I've got a dual Xeon W2k3 box that locks up intermittently. I'd like to debug or crash it when it stops responding. Ctrl + double ScrollLock doesn't work. It's not convenient to have a debugger attached all the time. I wonder if the following will work. - I set /debug /debugport=1394 in boot.ini and boot the box - Once the box has locked up, I connect a 1394 cable to a laptop with WinDbg - I use WinDbg to debug or crash the box What are my chances to have WinDbg connected to the target machine when the latter is stuck - ie spinning at a high IRQL? Can anyone suggest hardware-based solutions to crash a PC with memory dump? Like a cheap PCI card, NIC or whatever, with two wires and a red button soldered to it? Though I am afraid the problem is in video drivers, so even if I managed to crash the computer, I won't get the memory dump anyway. It consists of both an UI plugin and a a rendering plugin, in addition to a monitor dll. Calling GetSaveFileName() from the port monitor works ok with one exception: There are refresh problems within the "SaveAs" box when the user selects 'Create new folder'.     - Does USB isochronous transfer have buffer alignment limitation? Dears, I meet one strange problem for USB 1.1 isochronous transfer. My test driver is based on the usb isochronous sample in XPDDK. The maximum packet size of isochronous endpoint is 1022. The driver sets the buffer offset of each ISO packet according to maximum packet size. After the driver prepares the internal Irp and urb for transfer, it calls IoCallDriver to pass request to bus driver. However, bus driver neither send isochronous IN command on USB bus nor return error status. The complete routine is never called. However, if the driver sets the buffer offset to 512 byte alignment for each ISO packet, bus driver performs the isochronous transfer well. Does USB isochronous transfer have buffer alignment limitation? If bus driver doesn't have this limitation, what's the possible reason for this problem? I have sufferred this bug for several days. I don't see any sample code aligns the buffer offset for usb isochronous transfer. Please give me some suggestions. We have written a Device Driver for a legacy ISA Interface Card with Visual C++ 5.0 and the Windows 98 DDK (Driver Development Kit), using Chapter 7 of Walter Oney's book "Programming the Microsoft Windows Driver Model". The device is an Ionosonde and is remotely controlled over a network by a drive letter x:\ mapped to UNIX PC. The Control software works OK at first but after switching on the Ionosonde a few times, via the Windows 98 Device Driver, the x:\ drive fails. There is no problem if the x:\ drive is mapped to a different UNIX server or when polling the local c:\ drive on the Control PC instead. Any help would be appreciated.     - Strange error when starting a service... I am having a really strange problem that hopefully has a simple and obvious solution that I am just not seeing. I am installing drivers for a device, and I have to copy several drivers over in the process to System32\Drivers. In the INF file, I copy all of the driver binaries to the %12%\drivers directory, and all the binaries get copied to c:\winnt\system32\drivers (I've verified this post install). In the registry entries for the various services that I'm installing, they all contain "System32\DRIVERS\" and then the binary file name as the ImagePath key. All of the services have the exact same directory (there are no typos or anything, all are generated by the %12% in the install INF file). All but one of them work. One of them gives me an error when you try to start it that it can't find the file. Which is odd, because it's right there in the System32\Drivers directory. Here's the oddity. If I set the ImagePath to point to another directory - it works fine. If I then set it back to "System32\DRIVERS\filename.sys", it now works without a problem. When printing from iExplorer on the Windows CE .NET 4.0, the margin in
printed image is much bigger than the value in page setting dialog box.
Although changing printer driver, I got the same result.
Is this the iExplorer's defect?
And Is there any solution for the defect?
