The hclient is not created. Where am i going wrong.     - HELP, 2k EngModifySurface Links with WIN32K.sys Hi All, In 2K usermode printer driver, I am trying to use EngModifySurface. Only this call uses win32k.lib, this finally gets linked with WIN32K.sys, which is kernel mode GDI component. Even GDI32.DLL supports lot of ENG functions, why this is moved to WIN32K.sys? for me any 2k driver built with this call causes not load the UI. Also fails to print from the winword. So as I now understand, the answer to 2 is no and, hence, there is no bug. The confusion came from the apparent effort in PASSTHRU to guarantee no packets leave low-power edges. So, when I saw a violation of this, I assumed it was a bug. IMHO, a clarifying comment in the code would be helpful to future newcomers.     - Notifications to a DLL I am new to driver development, so my question might be a bit naive. The Situation: I'm developing a USB-based device. A user can connect or disconnect one or more of these devices at any time. I provide a dll to interface between a Windows application and my kernel-mode driver (under construction). Either I or my customer customer will create his/her own Windows app, in their favorite programming environment. The Problem: I'd like to provide callback functions in my dll that will execute whenever a device is connected or disconnected. I can see that there is an SDK Platform function RegisterDeviceNotification that allows user code to register for a callback to a window or service. But I don't have either in my dll. This does not therefore seem to meet my needs. I also see that the IO Manager exports the IoRegisterPlugPlayNotification for drivers. It accepts a callback function argument. The Questions: Can I use the IoRegisterPlugPlayNotification function and locate the callback function be in my (user mode) dll? Or, is there a way to use the RegisterDeviceNotification user-mode function with my dll? Or, is there a better way? Tag: Network Bridge Tag: 48779

Hello, The hepl file for isousb sample driver in XP ddk says the following: " The number of packets sent down with each Irp/Urb pair should be a multiple of 8. " i have also tried and when it is not a multiple of 8 , packets do not go through . however i do not understnad the reason . Is this limit defined in any way by the USB 2.0 specification?     - Problem Modifing the NDIS packet Hi All, I am trying to modify the NDIS packet. I want to redirect the packet from destined for 172.10.10.10 to 172.10.10.10. steps taken to modify the packets. 1. Modify the Destination IP address. 2. Calculate the Checksum. 3. Modify the Destination MAC address. 4. Send the packet. I have used both Network stacking and own NDIS packets. When i tested my code, it worked on One Ethernet Adapter and it did not work on another adapters. I do not know why. When i captured the packet with Etherreal, it shows that the Checksum is 0 at the destination. Everything else is fine. I checked the IP address, MAC address, then are updated. I am calculating the right checksum and i made sure i am updating the checksum after i modified the packet. I am not sure, when Checksum became 0. I do not know, if Miniport driver made it 0. Is that the posibility? if yes then why? Is my checksum wrong? I am attaching the code to calculate checksum here. Thanks in advance for your help. Since CGM is a device independent format it can handle RGB 24bits (8bits per value). To which value should I set the ulHTOutputFormat field of the GDIINFO structure?     - ndis usb hi, i am writing a ndis usb driver(actually putting the sample codes ndiswdm and bulkusb together). it seems that the driver could send/receive the packet properly if it ignored the mac address of the incoming packet. But I just wonder how to determine the physical mac address of the target device in the initialization stage since the usb controller does not really have one??? Thanks.     - about SCSI command Hi, I may post this message to a wrong place but I think I can get the answer here. I tried to send a SCSI command, Request Sense, to a SCSI disk logic unit, but there are two buffers, one is the data buffer and the other is the sense data buffer. Which buffer should be used for this command? I red in the document of SPC-2 and is still puzzled at it. It seems that the sense buffer is used only for autosense situation.     - Malformed TCP packets I have an application that uses overlapped sockets. I run two instances of the application on different PCs; one instance connects to another, then both instances exchange some data. I am having troubles with certain PCs, which send out malformed TCP packets with wrong TCP checksums or IP headers partially overwritten by user data. The problem happens with Win2k SP3 machines, and SP4 seems to help. Now I have an XP SP1 machine (A) and XP SP2 machine (B). When A connects to B, all works fine. When B connects to A (i.e. A is listening), then some TCP packets coming out of A are malformed. When two instances of the appliction are running on A, all is fine. Other XP SP1 and 2003 machines work fine. So it must be something wrong with the machine A. Even if I did something wrong in my user-mode program, this woudn't affect the packet headers, would it? Is it possible to get the list of all the drivers in the TCP stack? I would then compare the stacks on A and B to see if there's any difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks.     - CreateFile() on NDIS Protocol Driver failes for Regular User Accou Hi, I wrote NDIS Protocol Driver based on NDISUIO DDK sample. It works fine but only under "Administrators" accounts. Under normal user ("Power Users", "Backup Operators") CreateFile() fails with error 5 (access denied). NDISUIO does the same. I called MS Technical Support and the guy there trying to tell me that all communication drivers work only under Admin.??? Does not seem to make any sence. After unsuccessful programmatic attempt to AdjustPriviledges() LogonUser() ImpersonateLoggedonUser()... I have tried to change INF, but with no success (I could be wrong there).     - NdisMQueryAdapterResources() : resource allocation problem at WinMe Hi, I am stuck with a similar problem (as mentioned below in one of the older postings). Driver works with XP and 2K. Infact it works with WinME installed on PC where I use PCI-Cardbus(Ricoh) controller to insert my cardbus wireless lan controller. It doesn't work with WinME (on IBM Thinkpad A21m laptop). My NdisMQueryAdapterResources() returns only one resource i.e. interrupt. Using debugger command 'pci' I see that BAR seems to be mapped. No difference when I use NdisMPciAssignResources() wrt number of resources but here I get IO enabled in addition to BusMaster and Memory (i.e. control word 0x7 in NdisMPCIAssignResources() against 0x6 in NdisMQueryAdapterResources() . There is one imp print in the debugger in the reboot that follows crash because of pci-bar not getting mapped. It says"VPICD Severe Perf Warning: interrupt #9 is supriousing. Get the owners of the devices on that interrupt to look at their code." This problem exists till I don't shutdown the m/c and start. Device manager shows that 'SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus' is the interrupt that prompts that warning. My device is on interrupt 0xB. Don't know whether this problem is linked to above resource allocation problem. Hi Daum, Found you query in this ng. Did you get the solution for this ?     - DrvFillPath Hi When Windows calls my DrvFillPath function of my printer driver, it passes (sometimes) more than 6000 subpaths (MoveEx, Polyline, Polyline, CloseFigure).... so my question now: Where does this come from? Just from one command? Or did the creating application call the FillPath fuction several times? ... 6000 times? Or how's this handled? I now know, among other things, that MPHalt can be called without PtUnbind ever being called. Unfortunately, however, it didn't address my issue. I believe my question boils down to this: 1. Does NDIS serialize PNP events with respect to send/receive paths? 2. If not, is it a requirement that a packet does not leave the driver from an edge that is in low power? family will run as-is in that family or with just a
recompile on other Operating Systems. Last and not
least, since your plugin runs under DNE, which is signed
by WHQL, you don't have to go through WHQL as you would
with an IM.
