Could anyone do me a really huge favor and send me the *.h and *.lib
files from the latest WIndows DDK? You can no longer download them
from MS (unless you have MSDN, which I don't). I've ordered the CD,
but I need to get some software to read a USB device working in the
next couple of days. Please (please!) send the files to

wexler "at" ccr.jussieu.fr

Thank you VERY much.
Mark

I think nobody can send you any part of the DDK without violating the DDK
license agreement.

Why? suppose you're given a task that must be done yesterday.
And delivery of the CD may take few weeks.

(no intention to open that can of worms again but this once occured
to me with a "free" platbuilder eval. kit)

If it is an emergency then certainly a few thousand dollars is no issue.
Purchase an MSDN subscription and download the ddk. This can be done online
in short order. The excuse given for theft of property appeared lame to me.

Oh please get real. The production of software has a finite cost to it. It
costs money and it costs time. Money to acquire the material, hardware and
software, needed to produce the target software, time to acquire said
material, and time then to design, write, debug and produce the software
using the material acquired. Time to acquire the DDK as part of the required
material to produce the product is all part of the cost of doing business.

It's a scatological bovine excuse for stealing intellectual property, good
intentions or not.

But the OP already ordered the CD, his only complaint is time of delivery.
As one can infer from Mark's reply - Microsoft does this intentionally, to force people to buy MSDN.
While completely legal, this looks er.... not nice.

You know, I wonder if the repeated whining about this issue could be
solved by MS making a downloadable DDK available to people that have
ordered a DDK CD (once their credit card clears, anyway :-). I mean,
once you have the CD, you can pirate it anyway if that's your intention.

I, personally, can't think of any legitimate business reason for not
doing this (other than the time to develop the download interface :-).
