    - DeviceIoControl's BytesReturned shows 0xCCCCCCCC In one of my DeviceIoControl, the BytesReturned is always 3435973836 (0xCCCCCCCC). In the driver I set the value of Irp->IoStatus.Information to 4 and I have verified this value many times.     - I2CInterface Query from miniport driver using filter driver Hi all, I am trying to get the I2C interface from the miniport driver. For this i am building an IRP for pnp and minor function code of query devices. Now when i send this IRP to lower device in AddDevice function by making a call to IoCallDriver then this function don not return me success. I have taken the GUID_I2C_Interface as interface type , and size is of I2CINTERFACE. In IoCallDriver function i have taken pdo as the pdo i get in function call of the AddDevice. can any body tell the reason as why this IocallDriver is failed. Hope to get the solution. PS: I have tried my making my driver as a UpperFilter for video miniport. Can this be done using lower filter also or other way. please suggest.     - Restart USB Drive. Hi All, I found the "devcon" sample of DDK sample which can restart any device of the machine, for example TYPE the following console command devcon restart USB* will restart all USB devices and USB host controllers in the machine, mean while you could see the "refresh" in the device management window. I port the code segment I need to my original MFC project and compiled correctly. however it did not work even the relative API(ex: SetupDiCallClassInstaller) return SUCCESS. It means NO refresh in device management window. My machine winXP SP1. Is it caused by different compilers? (For DDK build and VC cl) Could somebody help me? Thanks a lot!     - Security Digital Card standard driver in Vista Beta Dear all, The SD card standard driver in Vista beta version is different from the one in XP. One of the differences is the programming way of Normal Interrupt Status Signal Enable register(please refer to SD Host Controller Standard Specification). In Windows XP, those bits are always set, but in Vista just two bits "Transfer Complete" and "Command Complete" Signal Enable are set. So the SD standard driver in Vista will miss the DMA Interrupt Status and Signal, unless DMA Interrupt Status is set and is got together with Transfer Complete Status by driver. In my case, for our SD host controller operation the DMA Interrupt Status is later than Transfer Complete Status a little while. When SD driver gets Tansfer Complete Status and at the same time DMA Interrupt Status is not set, it never gets the interrupt from DMA Interrupt Signal because the relative signal enable bit is always off.     - SCSI device mapping Hi all, We have an application (written in C/C++) for management of SCSI storage devices. Through this application, we are creating a logical drive (LD) using two physical disks and this LD should show up in the list of volumes in Windows. The job of exposing the newly created LD to Windows is done by the device driver for the RAID controller. So after this is successfully done, one can right click on My Computer, then Manage -> Disk Management, and can see the new LD there. The problem is, in some cases (that is, for some version of the application) this newly created LD is not getting exposed to Windows. To reiterate, the application as such does not expose the LD to Windows (it is done by the driver). But we noticed that with the same driver version, a different version of the application causes this problem. So the problem _might_ be with the application. In particular, the device driver does not get any error, but is not receiving READ/WRITE/READ_CAPACITY calls for the LD created. Is this possible to happen because the application is doing something wrong (perhaps, locking up some resource)? Under what situation can such a thing happen? The system is a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with Xeon processor. Any help is appreciated. If this is not a right forum for this topic, please direct me to the right one. Thank you.     - Multiple pending IRPs causes other thread to block. I'm currently implementing a packet capturing intermediate driver. One of the IOCTL I have set up is a request to capture a packet of a certain type. In my case, IOCTL_CAPTURE_PACKET is METHOD_BUFFERED, not overlapped and contains UINT of EthernetType to capture. This IRP is pended until a packet meeting the requirements is seen at which point the IM driver copies the packet content into the SystemBuffer of the IRP and completes the IRP. I also have IOCTL_CANCEL_ALL_PENDING_IRP and IOCTL_SEND_PACKET which cancels all current pending IRP's and sends a packet out respectively. In my initial tests my application side program was a series of cmdline executable that simply called DeviceIoControl() with the correct IOCTL code. Later I moved it to a Win32 Application with threads. This is where my problem began. A single pending IRP blocks the entire application form making further IRP requests. My question is this:- do I need to use Overlapped? Can I open multiple handles to the adapter instead (I am about to try this, fairly sure it will work but not sure if that's the best solution) Any help, is always appreciated! Thank you! Hi, In my printer driver(user-mode), I am trying to get a character width in logical units, same as by calling GetCharABCWidths function. I think I should use FONTOBJ_cGetGlyphs to get GLYPHDATA information and then calculate the character width. But the result is alway different with the GetCharABCWidths function.     - Udp sending performance in Gbit Ethernet Hello, This topic has been previously discussed in win32.programmer.networks, but no clear solution has been found. It seems that when sending UDP packets at maximum speed, the throughput of the sending drops significantly when the payload size is increased from 1024 to 1025 bytes. This seems to be connected to the NIC interrupts in some way, it seems like that 1024-byte packets can be sent at full rate, but 1025 byte packets only once per interrupt (and per sending application).     - DIFx problem about preinstalling case on X64 I had a DIFx problem about preinstalling case on X64. I use DIFx API to preinstall/install/uninstall driver device. Unlike netmointor, I hope the driver could capture the packet to application real-time. So I implement an event, generated by driver, to indicate the application to get the captured packet from driver. In order to reduce the overhead in keeping the captured packets, I use a buffer pool in driver to contained the packet temporarily before application read them. However, if the pool is full in the heavy traffic cases, the extra packet will lose. I find NDIS uses a PENDING state in its receive path.     - SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList problem with USB bluetooth? Hi, I need ti enumerate all USB bluetooth dongle with a particular VID/PID. We have our usb driver (not signed) and we also use the widcomm bluetooth stack. The bluetooth dongles are also compatible with the Windows XP SP2 stack. The main problem is: -I try to retrieve all the compatible driver for this dongle using SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList() -> it works. - Then I try to get the currently installed driver (by changing the device install params and calling again SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList()) -> it works only the first time. After that it says "no more items" I've checked with the Hardware manager and I've found that the Bluetooth device's icon changed and displays the "WinXP bluetooth icon" -> But the widcomm or our driver is still loaded and working! If I re-install the drivers, the icon goes back to the normal one. But as soon as I call again SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList() on this device, the icon change back to the WinXP bluetooth icon! This is not the case on a bluetooth device with a VID/PID not compatible with the WinXP stack. How can I avoid this problem? To reproduce this problem, it's simple: - Install a bluetooth device compatible with the WinXP stack using a other bluetooth stack (Widcomm for example) - Check the icon with the Hardware manager. - call SetupDiBuildDriverInfoList() on this device using default dev_install_params. - Refresh the hardware Manager and you should see the device with a new icon! Interrupt service routine not executing after some interrupts generation Hi Everybody, Our PCMCIA 16 bit PC card(with WDM driver) is generating Interrupts properly and in the Interrupt service routine we are servicing immediately. If we does not service the interrupt then our device will stop generating interrupts. After some time Even though our device generated interrupt but ISR is not invoking. In this case we are not able service the interrupt becase ISR not executed. Then our device will stop generating interrupts. This kind of problem is coming when I move mouse or if i use keyboard.
