Excuse the dumb question but how would I install drivers for my cd-rom
without using windows ? Some kind of dos command I'm guessing. I have
this p3 presario with no OS installed and need to install my cd-rom in
order to install windows ( I have the drivers, but no way to input them)

Thanks

No, you have to do it as part of a windows install. I assume you CD-ROM
will boot via the BIOS. You will need a floppy with the needed driver, the
inf file, and a txtsetup.oem file, you should be able to load these from the
HP site. Boot the Windows installation CD, and press F6 when prompted near
the beginning of the blue screen. The system will load for a while, then
prompt you for the floppy with files.

I'm absolutely sure that Presario's BIOS allows you to boot off CD drive.

Then take the Windows installation CD (they are all bootable since IIRC
some service pack for NT4), insert it to Presario, go to its BIOS and enable
booting from the CD.

The rest will be done automatically, and you will see Windows Setup, which
(Windows) will be then installed.
