In XP SP2, 1394b device speed is S100 and to change it as in SP1 I am trying
to follow KB885222. But after running this download, I get KB885222 setup
error "Cannot create a file when that file already exist" even the first time
I ran this.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

How did you install SP2? If you upgraded from SP1 the KB you installed is
still there and setup is erroring out becuase the files it's trying to
create are already on the system and of the proper date.

I have upgraded SP2 from SP1. File KB885222 files are different from SP2
files of 1394. There version is latest and even date is latest. This is a
hotfix after SP2 release for 1394.

Thanks.

If I dont upgrade SP2 from SP1, howelse you want me upgrade to SP2. This KB
requires SP2 as pre condition. Please let me know how I can make this
KB885222 work in SP2.

Thanks

I finally stole the files of the setup program and manually installed. It
works now, but I wonder if this is "proper".

Hi Jan,

Its been long and I dont remember exactly.

When I start installation, the setup wizard creates temporary directory for
files. So I copied that directory as soon as I can, before I say "OK" for
setup error. I now have inf, dll and sys file. Use device manager and install
manually. Or copy the dll into System32, driver to System32\drivers.

Tell me your problem, I may recall better.

Thanks,
Raj

Use safemode to replace 1394 sys files. Since the driver information is
already installed and registries are set, this will work even if installtion
of hotfix fails.
