 - date time formatting hi, my sp takes datetime in 'yyyyMMdd HH:mm:ss' format. however my c# datetimepicker takes 'dd/MM/yy HH:mm:ss' format. how do i convert/parse the datetime value from the datetimepicker to the sp datetime format ? I have formatting stored in a database, such as "$#,##0.00" How do I use this formatting, apply it to dt.Rows(i)(MergeFieldName), which is a double, and then store it in a string?  - Excel does not die using automation I have a vb.net app that opens an excel worksheet, reads data and then closes the sheet. Im noticing that the Excel process is still running after I have closed and disposed of my excel objects. The following code (Test1) demonstrates the essence of what I am doing.  - I can't stop the application, "httpd.exe", jamming my computer! I am using Windows XP (lang.: en-U.K.). I recently found that an application called "httpd.exe" is running all the time (when the computer is on) and used up lots of the "CPU usage", from 10%~98%. My computer slows down graduatlly. When I tried to delete the "httpd.exe" from C:\WINDOWS and the related PF file from C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch, it "disappeared" again after several seconds. Also, when I tried to "End process" from the Task Manger. It also "disappeared" in the "processes" list again.  - declare a form so that you can reference it's controls Here's what I'm trying to do in vb.net 2005. I have a public declared method that sets the value of a control on a form, but that form could change, so I don't want to code its actual name. I want it to be a parameter in the module method so that you pass the form name of whatever form called the method. So let's say we call the method from form 1: UpdateText(frmName) Then in the module we have the actual method Public Sub UpdateText(ByVal frmName as Form) frmName.textbox1.text = "Hi, I'm Me." end Sub Now, the problem that arises is that frmName gets underlined by visual studio and says: TextBox1 is not a member of 'System.Window.Forms.Form'.  - dotnet installers do nothing Howdy, I have a fresh install of vista ultimate sp1 which I am trying to install visual studio 2008 to. When I run the installer it basically stalls at "Setup is loading installation components", doing nothing (a copy of the dd_install_vs_procore_90.txt log is available here: http://pastebin.com/mf8b203 . The dd_error_vs_procore_90.txt is empty. ). I was not able to google much for this but one similar problem with vs2005 suggested installing dotnet before running visual studio so I tried this. I ran the dotNetFx35setup.exe and clicked continue when UAC prompts for permission to continue. The exe loads in the task manager and then does nothing, using 860k of memory. I downloaded a copy of dotNetFx35setup.exe with the same results. I then downloaded the dotnetfx35.exe redistributable and ran it - once again, same results. Not two weeks ago I had managed to successfully install visual studio 2008 to the same computer (a lenovo t61p) running vista business edition and and otherwise similar setup (I believe I was using nvidia's 169 drivers while I am currently using the 173 but figured this should not really have an effect). Considering this is a 36 hour fresh install of vista this is quite annoying. Googling for various combinations of 'dotnet install hang vista' has not found anything substantive so I was hoping somebody here might be able to advise me as to how to install dotnet/vs2k8.  - workflowInstance.InstanceId Hi, I started playing with Hands-on labs provided on MSDN, reached lab03 (Hosting the Windows Workflow - Part 2 - Using the default SQL Services) in which we have code that needs the InstanceId as follows : GetInstanceTrackingEvents(workflowInstance.InstanceId) I understood, once we build and run we shoud get 5 messages logged in the console for the events (Created, started, suspended..........) which is not the case. I started to investigate and debug and noticed that InstanceId is "Empty" and the loop to display the events is not entered .  - WSUS 3.0 SP1 - Few Clients not Reporting I have 50 computers on my network SBS2003 network. Of the 50 computers 3 are not reporting to the WSUS server. 2 computers are XP sp3 and the other is Vista sp1 I have done everything I can think of to get the Vista machine to report. Since the Vista machine is mine I can work on this one the easiest. 1. I thought the problem was initially duplicate SID, so I ran NewSID. 2. I've deleted the softwaredistribution folder and ran the /resetauthorization 3. I have verified that the GPO is applying on the computer 4. Cleaned the registry - SUSClientID 5. Removed computer from domain and re-joined 6. Deleted the virtual direcory in IIS and re-created. BTW - the ports are 853 and 8531 for SSL. seond OS. Is it ok to use windows xp OEM on the new partion?? please help
