    - How to prompt for elevation for a single operation? Hi, I have a program running with normal user privileges, that needs to update an entry in an ini file that happens to be in ProgramData, so that a server program, running as administrator can read it. Editing the ini file directly causes only the VirtualStore copy to be edited, so my plan is to prompt for elevation as administrator before this edit and restore normal user permission after. If the elevation fails then a message box reminding the user to edit the file as admin is sufficient. I haven't found any information on how to do this though. I am using c# with .net 2.0.     - WindowsXP Product Registrarion... I've run imto a problem where someone actually burned-off a copy of my windows xp disk and installed it on their computer. I have never registered it and was wondering: 1. How would I register an already activated windows xp, and 2. If the copy in question (which has a 2 cpu license as per the EULA) is registered, would that prevent an 'unauthorized installation' from being updated or cause it to become unusable?     - Can't taget particular .NET runtime When attempting to target a specific version of the .NET Framework in my application configuration file, I get an error saying that: "To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the.NET framework:..." and then it lists the version that I targetted in my config file. Now I need to test the methods that deal with DataSets and DataTables. Is there any special issues when running these kind of tests?     - need additional help with pp I recently got help on setting up a pp file with my midi sounds. I burned a disc and it works like charm - thanks to some of you.     - Beginner ASP Data Connection Question I am new to ASP and working on my first project and I must setup a connection to my sql server. I have been working in Coldfusion and new to ASP. I am thinking the best way to setup the SQL Database connection is with a single user logon ID and Password from the web server to the sql server.     - Is this a BIOS problem? I am running Win XP Pro on a Gigabyte GA-8IG1000 mainboard with Pentuim 4 processor. My computer suddenly froze and I had to reboot. Since this the boot up screen has columns of chartacters (making it unreadable) and the system cannot boot up except in safe mode. Does the fact that the problem starts with the first spash screen mean that the problem lies in BIOS? I have tried restoring to an earlier time and updating graphics drivers.     - ASP.NET ajax client side framework failed to load Hello, I am running a website which receives the following error whenever I run it: "ASP.NET ajax client side framework failed to load" I am using .NET 3.5 and have the Ajax toolkit installed (the correct version). I have already checked my web.config file and everything looks good (correct sections, handlers, ....). I also checked whether my scriptmanager is correctly placed and it is placed directly under my form-tag in the masterpage, so it can't e any higher in the page. I also added scriptmanagerproxies on my contentpages. I tried different things with the toolkitscriptmanager in different places, but none of them worked. We are working with other developers and they can run the website on their pc's with the same configuration (IIS 5.1, ASP.NET 3.5, Ajax Toolkit, Windows XP Pro) Another thing that I have noticed is that when I use SSL the error dissapears. Which is is quite strange I think. Obviously this is not a viable solution as I don't want to put my entire web site under SSL. Does anyone know anything else that I can check?     - Need XP SP2 home edition I never got around to installing service pack 2 on my computer, and now I have to have it to install one of the programs I need for my new Sony Digital Media Player. I have been all over the Microsoft site and it keeps sending me to SP3 when I try to find a place to download SP2.     - Directory.CreateDirectory This is really weird, but I have the following code: private static readonly string mString = "tempUnzipDir" + Path.DirectorySeparatorChar; ... public static string ExtractToTempLocation(string aZip) { try { string tmp = Path.GetTempPath() + mString; Directory.CreateDirectory(tmp); // Extract the zip file } catch(Exception e) { } } The code above creates a temporary directory fine on my dev machine (Vista), but will not create a temp directory on my server (server 2K3 R2) when I move the code over the to server. I have some logging enabled that isn't shown in the code above, and it is definately pointing to the correct location of the temp directory to be created. Even more weird is that the call to Directory.CreateDirectory(tmp); does not throw any type of exception on the server. It just keeps executing as if it worked correctly. For quite some time I have been using VC 6.0 and VS2003 on the same
computer.
I have read somewhere, that VC 6.0 should be installed as a second.

Now I have to use also VS2008.
Is it possible to use all three of them without interfering one to another ?
How to install them ?

Yes. You should be OK just installing VS 2008 on your current setup (with

I think it is safer to assume that installing the oldest product first
is the better way since MS would have thought about checking for
previous version when installing a newer product.
