 - Adding class library to website Hi I am used to using the App_Code folder to put my DAL and BLL classes. However I want to move toward using separate dll's so I can start doing things like Unit Tests and using Sandcastle for documentation. My class library DAL project contains 4 .vb files, each one containing a single class, which maps to a DB table.This builds OK. I then create a website and add the class library project to the website. I then in the website a reference to the project. This builds OK. And I can see the DLL in the bin folder of the website. When I go to add code I can't figure out how to "reference" my DAL - it doesn't appear in the intellisense. I know this will be stupid but I can't figure it out. Regards, Chris.  - how to show the data from a data reader? Can someone please show me what to do with this to show the data in a dataGrid for example? I'm not really sure what to do with it. I'm used to Vb6.  - Configuration Manager - missing / cannot find. I am going throug a vb 2005 book, but I am using vs 2008 professional, and I cant seem to find a menu option its talking about. I am wondering if this has moved - i cannot seem to find it for the life of me in any of the menus. Looking at the help file however - it says the menu option is exactly how my book states but I do not have it. I created a Dummy Windows Application - saved it ( solution and project ) and I cannot find the Configuration Manager. -----------here is what the windows help says under (Configuration Manager) You can create your own configurations using the Configuration Manager dialog box. To open the Configuration Manager dialog box In Solution Explorer, select the solution. On the Build menu, choose Configuration Manager. ------------here is what my book says It says - To create a custom project configuration, select the Configuration Manager command on the Build menu or on the context menu that appears when you right-click the solution node in the Solutions Explorer. ( See figure 4-15. ) Figure 4-15 has a window "Configuration Manager the top dropdown box has a label of "Active Solution Configuration" with a "Debug" option selected... and beside it there is an "Active Solution Platform:" label with a dropdown with "Any CPU" listed There is a datagride with a heading label: "Project contexts (check the project configurations to build or deploy): and the columns are: Project / Configuration/ Platform / Build I have noticed that there is a difference in the toolbar above that has an icon "Start Debugging", I do not have a dropdown that shows the "Debug or Release or Configuration Manager" dropdown box. A/R Batches) in AX in the format in which they were originally keyed off or taken off a customer's Trade Debtor a/c.  - Windows XP SP3 - registry entries. Checking the Registry, I find a software uninstalled some ago is still recorded under the Legacy entries. Any attempts to erase this from the registry is denied. Can these Legacies entries applying to a particular software title be made able for removal from the Registry? - what steps are required to do so safely? -- Your assistance is most appreciated.  - MyApp.exe.config vs MyApp.config Hi, I have a MyApp.exe.config file with some settings, but my program seems to IGNORE it. it looks for MyApp.config instead. changing the exe.config to .config is a bit complicated (windows installer is involved...). any ideas as to WHY it happens or how to FIX it ?  - rundll errors Hi everytime I stat my computer it get this message: Errorloading C:\windows\system32\wrvgiqpy.dll The specific sould not be found. And I can not remove some programs off my computer because every time that I had tried it said, " I have rundll errors and system 32 cannot be found so it can not delete it. I got no idea what this is, but I had an adware in May 2008, so I had Macfee remove the virus, but then I now have this problem and I got no way of getting in touch with the virus removal team unless I pay for the services again.  - Calculating person's age referring to absolute cell I have put 2008 in a cell that can be updated each year. I am wanting to calculate a person's age for the current year. I have put 2008 in a cell that I want to refer back to absolutely when I subtract the year found in a cell where I have entered a person's date of birth using dd/mm/yy.  - Call SPlus function from C#.NET language Hi, I have a function written in S-Plus language. I want to call it from my C#.NET program and get the return value(s) from the S-Plus function. Can someone kindly advise me on how to call this S-Plus function from my C# code and catch its return value(s)?  - "Visual Web Developer" questions I've installed Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition and have a couple questions. At the time I did the install, I had my My Documents folder mapped to a network drive. I have since mapped it back to my local drive, how can I get VWD to recognize the new path? I have also installed DotNetNuke and when I go to setup the database it comes back with an error that indicates that it can't create the DB on a mapped drive... If it's just the DotNetNuke project that is recognizing the network path to my My documents, how do I delete a project? I ended up creating more than one DotNetNuke project so would like to delete the extra one. I can't see any way to delete a project... Any help would be appreciated!!!  - certificate expiring (self signed) Hi, I have a problem with the expiring self signed certificate on our server. Warning Event IDs 12017 and 12018 occuring every few minutes in the Application Event viewer. I have run the 'New-ExchangeCertificate' cmdlet with no parameters and that has created a new certificate in the same location as the expiring one. ***** However, the warnings continue. Do I need to do something else?? ***** When the certificate actually does expire on August 15th do I need to delete it? Or ignore it? There is also a 'StartCom' certificate in the same location, I installed this so that OWA would work without warnings, which it does provided the clients have the appropriate trusted root entry. With this, do I still need the self signed certificates? I guess so as they are I think primarily for LAN communication with Outlook.  - Can't Move, Edit or Delete any Recurring Appointments - Outlook 20 I have a Verizon Palm Treo 755p and use Outlook 2002 on my new HP Pavilion (Vista 64-bit). When I was syncing on my old XP PC, everything worked fine. On the Vista PC, when I finally got it to sync (using a Bluetooth USB adapter), I ended up with recurring appointments that act wierd when I try to delete, move or edit them. It won't allow any of these changes, saying various messages: 1) If I try to open the recurring appointment: "Can't open this item. The object is not valid." 2) If I try to edit a recurring appointment: "Could not save item. Your changes could not be saved because you don't have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder." NOTE: I am a home user and can't find anywhere to access permissions. 3) If I try to move a recurring appointment: "The item many not have been deleted correctly. If someone sent you the item, that person's copy of the item may not be updated. The object is not valid." 4) I am able to create a new recurring appointment, but then if I try to edit, move, delete the new one, I run into the same problems as above. 5) I can change the VIEW to a list and I can delete a recurring appointment there. Because of this, I am afraid to sync with my phone as I don't want to contaminate the calendar version on my phone. I've tried to research this everywhere and have not found a solution and I am at my wit's end. I need to update my phone calendar. I already tried running the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) but it didn't work. In the Properties box when I right-click on Calendar, there was a checkmark on 'Automatically generate Microsoft Exchange views.' I unchecked this box to see if it would make a difference, even though my old XP PC version has the box checked and works fine. Please help!  - All instances of a class? Does anyone know, is there a way to enumerate all the instances of a particular COM class held in memory across all processes on a machine? I know that if an object registers itself in the ROT you can get it from there via the moniker. But if it doesn't? Specifically my issue here is a COM object that is created as a global variable in an Excel vba application. I have no control over the Excel app, can't ask the writers to add a macro to expose the object I'm after.  - WPF RichTextBox control Hi, We've got a WinForms application which uses a WPF Rich Text Box (via WindowsFormsIntegration) which is failing on certain user's machines, but works fine on all others. If we clear their NT profile (we use roaming profiles), the issue goes away. Of course this is not a suitable workaround for a large number of users. To ensure it wasn't any other components causing the issue, I created a simple application that just has the WPF RichTextBox within a WinForms application and the same exception occurs for the users which can't use our main application.  - windows explorer very slow to come up in winxp I have an issue with one of our new computers. It is a Dell P4 1gb ram, 2.8 ghz and is on a network. For the last couple weeks the client is complaining that it takes a long time to open windws explorer, once in it is then slow for the first few folders clicked and then seems ok. It actually takes about 40-60 seconds to open explorer. As i mentioned it is a new machine so shouldnt have much crap on it to bog it down.  - Dual partition I have a dual patition with vista(not functioning) on the c drive as primary capadity 108GB 2 used, and an E drive running XP 40GB 39.6Gb used. Please note I like the vista program. But in this instance I think it would be best probably to reformat entire disk and just a single drive. I have an external hard drive of 320GB, but how do I put my entire E drive to it so that I can restore it completely to the reformatted disc without losing anything or the links and shortcuts within E drive. Hi, I have a program running with normal user privileges, that needs to update an entry in an ini file that happens to be in ProgramData, so that a server program, running as administrator can read it. Editing the ini file directly causes only the VirtualStore copy to be edited, so my plan is to prompt for elevation as administrator before this edit and restore normal user permission after. If the elevation fails then a message box reminding the user to edit the file as admin is sufficient. I haven't found any information on how to do this though. I am using c# with .net 2.0. Try a newsgroup for your version of Windows. This is a .NET programming
group.
