 - How to assign events Hello, I've got a recursive data model, where the root object gets a certain event handler: DataObject root = new DataObject(); root.DataObjectCreated += new DataObjectEventHandler(OnDataObjectCreated); Now the DataObject has a collection of sub data objects with following property: public List<DataObject> DataObjects { get { if (_dataObjects == null) { _dataObjects = new List<DataObject>(); DataObject child = new DataObject(); _dataObjects.Add(child); child.DataObjectCreated += DataObjectCreated /// ???? } return _dataObjects; } } How can I assign the event handler of the root to the event handler of the child.  - type converter Hi, I need to convert between 2 identical structs, but they are both in seperate libraries and so I cant just edit either one of them to add explicit operators. they are both 3d vectors, one is the managed directx Vector3, containing float X,Y,Z, and the other is identical also containing float X,Y,Z, wich is also in a seperate library. Idealy I need to be able to use any number of libraries wich obtain the vector information I want wich each have their own definition of Vector3 and to use any number of graphic linraries such as managed directx, or Opengl binding etc, I also have my own graphics maths library wich uses a vector3 wich I need to implement with both float and double vector3's. I could have an interim struct wich has the converters, but im wondering if theres a clever way posibly using TypeConverter ? at the moment I have an overloaded static function wich does the conversion. but it would be nice if I could pass the struct by reference and avoid any copying where the structures are truly identical, generics dont seem to be flexible enough to allow me to do what I need. ie i cant access the X element inside a generic. thanks Colin =^.^= Tag: Reading Cookie value Tag: 553881

 - Structure C# internals I know structure is a value type and derived from System.ValuType. So I have the following questions,. 1 - C# won't allow to derive one structure from other. Then how come it is derived from System.ValueType ? 2 - I have written a simple C# console application. Following is the equivalent IL code which is generated for the structure .class sequential ansi sealed nested private beforefieldinit MyStruct extends [mscorlib]System.ValueType { } In this it is showing as class.  - IE Hosted Control not showing Hi I'm having trouble embedding a winforms usercontrol (.net 2.0) in my asp.net intranet webapplication. Everytime I open the mentioned page, I get the blank area with a red cross in the top left cornere (like picture not found). The assembly is signed and I have set a code group with FullTrust on the base of this strong name. IE Host log shows a successful creation of the control... What am I missing?  - Using CreateProcessWithLogonW() without invoking UAC popup in Vista Hi , I am trying to create process using CreateProcessWithLogonW() API. This works fine on Win2000 and NT, but in Vista it gives a UAC popup before the process (say, notepad, calc, etc) kicks off.  - Webbrowser control Hi Im usin a WebBrowser control on my C#/WinForm application. There are 2 options for user, 1) Print output to PDFPrinter or 2) Print output to default system printer. In code i change default printer and then call theWebBrowser.Print() method. All works fine but... browsercontrol "remebers" only first printer change. for example when user firs prints to pdf printer ant then to physical printer, browsercontrol default printer remains PDFPrinter.  - Executing directory Path? Hi, I have a DLL that uses the XMLReaderSettings class say mySettings. I want to add mySchema.xsd to mySettings.Schemas. As far as I can make out I need an absolute path to the mySchema.xsd file. Being inside a DLL, the only way I could see to get this was using the Assembly.GetAssembly().Location method. This worked fine on the development machine but on the production machine the call was returning the root directory. As a kludge I put mySchema. xsd in the root directory and away we went.  - WPF and C++ Hello all, We're moving a project from Borland C++ to MS. We're planning to use C# for the GUI work but have a lot of events and functions already in form files/units in Borland that are in C++. What's the best way to integrate the two languages? (To call a C++ function from a C# unit, without using any dlls). Apologies if this is a basic question here, but none of us is an expert in the MS suite. Thanks!  - user.config file question Hi I have a problem connected with user.config file. I am using default settings.settings . To settings.settings I am adding one user scope string and one application scope string. Thus app.config file is added to my project. When I build and run the project app.exe.config file is created and added to application base directory. This file contains two strings added previously. Q1: No user.config file is created in my documents and settings folder. Why? Is that because the application should be installed using msi installer rather than xcopy? I expected Visual Studio to separate user settings from app settings (at build time )and create user.config in user specific folder, and app.exe.config in application base folder.  - Accessing a web service - proxy problem I wrote a VS 2005 C# express programme that accesses a web service. It works fine when there's a direct connection to the internet, but on two different PCs with internet access via a proxy, I get this exception: System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 407: Proxy Authentication Required. at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) The internet works fine on this PC with IE and Firefox. In these two browsers, a proxy is set up. Use a proxy server for your LAN is ticked, and the address and port (80) has been entered. Am I right in saying that my programme is not able to access the settings of the web browsers, so I need to configure my programme with the proxy details.  - Problem with EnabelVisualStyles and displaying ToolBarButtons Hi, After adding the Application.EnableVisualStyles() in the Main-Method of my application, i got some strange problems with ToolBarButtons. When the Image of the button is set during designtime everything's ok. But all the buttons which load their image during runtime from an ImageList and/or are dynamicaly created have the following problems: In default-state the button is invisible, in down-state too, but the border higlight of the mouseover-state works.  - Linq and timeout Been having a weird issue for the past few months -- might have started when I moved my asp.net application to framework 3.5 so I could start using Linq to Sql. When I open my application in VS2008 and click run, it ALWAYS returns back to me in about 30 seconds saying there was a timeout in the first bit of Linq that was executed. If I press "restart", to try running the application again, it ALWAYS works the second time, and will continue to work unless I wait about 15 or 30 minutes between runs. Then I'm back to the timeout again on first connection. The sql server is on another box on the same network, and I can assure you, there are no connectivity issues getting to it.  - Using delegates between main/sub threads Dear All, Here is a problem I am facing (it might be too simple, but then I admit I am not a Guru:-) I have a main thread, in managed C++, that deals with displaying a form and some controls. I invoke another thread for some processing from this thread, so basically the main thread is waiting on the sub thread. Now the sub-thread has to keep posting its progress to the main thread. I have a delegate mechanism for that. So using mutex, I update the progress variable in the sub-thread's scope, and then invoke the main thread's delegate method to display the progress. The problem is just when the delegate is invoked. Control switches form sub to main thread. But main thread is already waiting for the sub thread to finish, so it deadlocks right there.  - Windows Service Deployment I have a Windows Service that I am deploying by setting a Deployment project in my solution. The problem I am having is with the app.config file. This where we store our connection string and folder locations. My development app.config is different from my clients. When I send him an msi file, I have to either add the clients app.config file into my project in 2 locations (as I am running as an exe as well as a Service - which calls the code from the exe project) or send him the app.config and have him replace it. Is there a way to tell the deployment project to include a different app.config file than is currently in the project. Can you set up multiple build type (personalities) to run for testing?
