XP Incompatable
I recently bought a replacement PC with Windows XP
installed on it. Now I cannot run some of my accounting
software on this workstation. We use VisionPoint 10
connected with a LAN. The XP 'compatability' features do
not seem to work with 'server-based' programs. The most
severe problems appear to have to do with 'screen
positioning'. Any ideas? I tried troubleshooting, I
tried Compatability in the file properties, and I
Disabled the "new interface

Duplicate Check Example
Has anyone had success is implementing this sample code?:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnmbscrm/html/mbs_crmappdup.asp
I simply dumped it into a folder on the CRM server under wwwroot. And try to
run it from there (at this point I'll run it manually, I dont need a button
via ISV). My biggest problem is understanding the step "Add Assembly as
Reference to Solution". What exactly am I suppose to add? And where do I
place this?
Even to that, I still get errors. The first one was that it can't load:
prjTechConference2002MSCRMSDKDemoWeb.ISVDuplicateCheck
so on ISVDuplicateCheck.aspx on the <%@ Page > tage I added
Src="ISVDuplicateCheck.aspx.cs" (seems like CodeBehind doesn't point
properly). After that I got a new error:
CS0246: The type or namespace name 'ISVAccount' could not be found (are you
missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I don't know how to fix this, but even if I did, I bet it would produce
another error. I posted this before and only got one reply that it worked
for him (nothing more nothing less).
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Newbi MS CRM developer
Greetings,
We are ramping up to do some integration between MS CRM
and an ERP package MFG/PRO (by qad, see www.qad.com).
Our first effort will focus on transferring data from
MFG/PRO to MS CRM. Specifically:
1) MFG/PRO "customers" to MS CRM "Accounts"
2) MFG/PRO invoices to ms crm invoices (invoice and
invoicedetail).
3) MFG/PRO "items" to MS CRM products (I think).
After doing our research, we've decided to take the SDK
route. By this I mean that we won't use Biztalk or the
data migration tool (?) but instead use methods on objects
such as "Invoice.CreatAndRetrieve()".
I'm hoping to get a little validation from the group and
hopefully some tips on how to proceed.
The process we envision goes as follows:
- A business event on the MFG/PRO "side" triggers an
export process of a customer (for example).
- The export process creates an XML document in form and
shape exactly as the SDK docs describe. By this I mean
that we look at the invoice.xsd file and construct an XML
document that can be directly fed into the
Invoice.CreateAndRetrieve() method.
- Post the XML document to an ASP page. I think we post
it as a "regular" HTTP message since the contents of the
XML should be treated like a string at this stage.
- The ASP page takes the XML and uses it as a parameter to
the Invoice.CreateAndRetrieve() method.
- ASP page invokes the method.
- ASP page returns back the GUID of the invoice to MFG/PRO
so that a cross reference can be maintained.
How does this look? Make sense?
I have more questions, but I'll wait and see if anyone
bites on this :)
Regards and TIA,

need software solution
I am trying to print many different file types
automatically, but I cannot do so because of the different
file types. I need some sort of "distiller" to turn these
files into one printable file type, ie PTF.
There are going to be Word, Exel, Internet Explorer, and
other different file types need to be "distilled" into a
common file type to print automatically.
I don't know if this type of software even exsists, but if
anyone can push me in the right direction, I would much

Internal email via workflow
Is it possible to use an email template to create an email to internal
users?
I am trying to send a notification to people that has detail about the Case,
Number, description, etc, which seems to be only possible using a template.
However, it looks like it is impossible to specify the recipient as the User
while creating the workflow, which has resulted in external contacts
receiving the email that was intended for internal consumption.
If anyone has advice on this, I would appreciate it.

Problesm in setting up client
I have set up the server with the sample database and added a few users. I
would now like to start testing it properly. I would like to install the
Outlook Sales client.
I have a couple of problems with this
1) What is the URL of the server?
2) When the install gets part of the way through i get the error message
that there is no default mail client, or the client cannot fulfill the
request.
The default client is set by a GPO. I double checked Outlook and everything
looks normal. (except of course that it is greyed out and I cannot change
the default to anything else)
Another problem I had, was that when I first ran the install the install
said that I did not have Outlook 2000 or later installed. I have XP SP1
installed. After I reran the install it seemed to be OK again.
Anyone have any thought on the above?
Cheers

Can't add users, they aren't in the list, HELP
Our network is made up of 2 NT 2000 Domains, several hundred users in
each.
The Add user wizard in the Deployment manager doesn't show me all the
users I'm interested in adding, I only get about 50 from the domain I
want to use, the 2nd one
Curiously the 1st domain has about 250 users in it. It's an older
domain and I haven't checked, but it feels like every person is in it.
I've checked, and it doesn't seem to be based on group membership. The
people who aren't in the list of possible new users aren't missing
from any of the groups which people who are in the list belong to.
Any ideas? Any way to add users manually? I've checked the SQL tables
and it doesn't look too complicated, but there a few guid's I don't
want to try to fake.
Suggestions?

Sales Process - Activity Due Dates
By default, the due dates for all activites in a sales stage are based
on the start of the sales stage (i.e. Activity 1 - due in 2 days,
etc.). Is there a way to make a later activity's due date be
dependent on an earlier activity within the same sales stage (i.e.
Activity 2 will be due 2 days after Activity 1 completes). Right now,
the only way I can think of doing it is to split the sales stage into
two smaller stages.

What old software do I have to install to test CRM?
I got my Microsoft Action Pack last week and converted all my test machines
to SBS2003 and a couple of Windows 2003 Application Servers. Everything is
working fine in the test environment for SBS 2003, Exchange 2003, and
Outlook 2003.
I am now getting ready to add CRM, and it looks like I have to reformat
everything again and go back to the 4 year old software that I had on the
test machines before in order to install CRM.
Is there a compromise position where I can reformat one of the application
servers as Windows 2000 with an Exchange 2000 and still keep AD on SBS 2003,
and keep Exchange 2003 as my main exchange server for the test?
Can the test users keep Outlook 2003 and attach to the Exchange 2003 or do
they need to go back to an older outlook and use the exchange 2000?
