Installing Outlook online client get this error:
"Unsupported Security Settings
MIcrosoft CRM requires that ActiveXcontrols are enabled. Your current
security settings prevent this. You need to enable ActiveX and try again".
It goes on to explain how and where to enable these. Going there we find
they are in fact already enabled.

Creating the Product Catalog
The Microsoft CRM product catalog is the central location for storing
product information. The product catalog is a collection of information about
your organization's products and services. The items in the product catalog
are created or managed through the Settings area of Microsoft CRM.
Additionally, you can view the product catalog either online, when you are
connected to your corporate network, or offline when you are at a customer's
site by using the Microsoft CRM client for Outlook.
Before you can add products or services to your product catalog, you must
create the applicable discount lists, unit groups, and price lists for your
products. To create the product catalog, set up each product catalog area in
the following order:
1. Discount lists
2. Unit groups
3. Price lists
4. Products
When you get to 3 you must link the â??price list itemâ?? to a product. How can
you do this if you have not created products in step 4? The answer is you
canâ??t.
You can go to 4 and create a new product leaving the Default Price List
field blank. You will get a warning â??a default price list has not been set.â??
Then you need to go back to 3 and create a new price list with at least 1
price list item which can be linked to the product you just created.
This supports my following statement:
As a technical person with an extensive accounting background, I do not get
the reasoning for price list and products. It seems as though you cannot
reuse a pricelist. I have created several products and the pricing
calculates correctly, butâ?¦I donâ??t understand.
Please confirm the following:
You need to create a price list [with at least one price list item] for each
product in the product catalog. Right?
Once you use the price list you cannot use it for another product. Right?

seem to remove it. I wanted to add phone to the public lead form , but

Missing Opportunities When in Outlook Interface
Afternoon All,
I am having an issue when using CRM via Outlook. When I login to CRM via
Internet Explorer, I am able to see all of my open Opportunities. The
problem arises when I try to use Outlook and search for opportunities. For
both, I am using the default "open opportunities" view, but there are a few
opportunities that are missing in the Outlook view vs. the IE view.
Does anyone know what is going on with this? I have confirmed this in a
couple of users accounts.

There are a number of 'system views' for opportunites like "Opportunities
Closing Next Month"
These views all seem to include already CLOSED opportunities, which does not
make any sense! And, as system views, it does not appear I can 'fix' the
filtering criteria.
I can create new views that do what is expected, but this does not seem like
valid behavior!
Can I hide the system views?
Am I doing something wrong?

We are planning an inhouse implementation.
We have Navision running off of our SQL server atm, and it is mission
critical.
I know that a shared SQL server is not recommended, but it is allowed for.
What is the experience out on the street with this?
1. Any known issues with sharing a SQL server that is running Navision (3.6)?
2. What are the odds that problems with the install will bring the server
down?
3. Performance should not be a problem (it is a robust server) but are there

Does 3.0 auto complete appointments like 1.2 did? It doesn't appear that it

I successfully migrated (thanks to this group) my contacts and accounts

Change address and phonenumber to contacts in "new case" window.
If I am in the middle of creating a new case and talks with the customer on
the phone...I wants to be able to change the customers address, phonenumber,
computername, username....and so on in the New case window. I've got no time
to find the contact and update this information and then back to the New case
window and type in the customers problem. But I want to be able to change
this information in both ways.

I have a workflow rule that generates an email to several individuals each
time a Lead is assigned. The email has the owner of the lead in the To:
field. The problem I'm running into is From: field is is the same as the To:
field which is the owner of the lead. Is there an easy way to make the From

I have a dillema:
One of our customers has two domains (us and nl) and one crm 3.0
implementation (nl)
Is it posible to track incomming mails from the us domain exchange by
forwarding them (with a rule on exchange) directly to the crmmail@nl-domain
mailbox?
If not, do i need to add the us crm-users to the nl exchange server and
forward the mails to these boxes?
Or is it not possible to track forewarded mail at all?

custom entity and email creating
Hello,
I have created a custom entity. When creating an email activity for
this entity, the Email address field isn't automatically added, as is
the case in account, contact etc. also, when clicking the magnifier
icon this entity doesn't appear in the "look for" field. Is there a
way to do one or both of these things?

The fax integretion of CRM is very limited, and especially using merge to
fax.We notice that a lot of client require to send faxes and when they read
the CRM brocures they think that is possible, but at this time this function
doesn't work.
I hope that in a future service pack or update it is possible to solve all
the issue about Fax in CRM.

Host header Vs MOC , which one is correct

If i go through the implementation guide , i read following paragraph
"host headers can not be used ". But if i read the installation and
configuration guide (official) , it talkes about creating host header
and entry in DNS. I am just confused. Although i used host header so
many times during demo installation without any problem by creating my
own crm web site .
Do not install Microsoft CRM to the default website.
- The default website must be accessible through http://<servername>
- host headers cannot be used
- the default Web site must be on port 80
- the IP addresses must be All Unasigned

Customize view
I'm trying to customize the columns in a view. The help files talks about use
the settings in the navigation pane. Well... I suppose the navigation pane is
the normal "tree" to the left. But where the ... is the "Settings" supposed
to be? There is no leaf in the tree named settings and I have right clicked
on all leafs, nada! No menu or buttons named settings either.

Regarding Integration with MS Office (Excel)
Hi,
I have installed Microsoft Snap in Phase1.5 on a machine with microsoft
Office 2003 and Dotnet Frame work 2.0
After that I am able to see MSCRM objects with in MS Word when I click
Insert from CRM.
But in MS Excel it gives an error saying customization assembly could not be
loaded when I click Insert from CRM button in Menu and I am not able to see
any CRM objects.
Please let me know the solution to handle this.

Report Viewer prompts for login credentials
Hi,
Everytime I run a report (either a custom report or a system report) in
CRM's Report Viewer for the first time after logging in, I am prompted to
enter my login credentials. After I enter my credentials I can view other
reports, but once I close the browser, reopen CRM and re-run a report in the
viewer, again I am prompted for my login. How can I make Report Viewer use my
Windows login? My Windows login has admin rights in both CRM and Reports
Server because I am able to access the web-based CRM and run reports in
Report Manager without any login information.
We have SQL 2005 with Reporting Services and CRM 3.0 installed in the same
box, but under different web sites in IIS.

CRM Customization
I really like what Microsoft has done with the customization process. I is so
easy to add database field and build new forms and tabs on existing forms.
However, I can not seem to find a way to add a list of items on a form. For
example, I would like to build a form or tab on a form that allows us to
create a list of the products we have sold to a client, picking from the part
numbers on the product list.

Very odd: Not all restored data there
Prior to rebuilding our CRM/SQL server this weekend, we backed up everything
(all 6 databases, webconfig, isv.config, etc.). After rebuilding the
environment, we successfully restored all the data.
What's odd is that there are many recent entries that are missing. FYI, we
restored the datasbes all via SQLCMD.

Pricing Unit Groups
I just spent two days creating our product list. First I had to create a
subject or group. Then I had to create units. Then create the product to
select from the subject or group and the unit/base unit. Then create a price
list pulling from the product list. After populating all this information, I
went to Sales and attempted to create an quotes, invoice, etc... Well the
price list uses units and base unit, but when I go to quotes the unit is
measured in the group and prices that way. We sell most everything by
individual pieces but have a minimum order. How do I set this up? Without
redoing all? I need to show the price per item, but need it to quote or
order out as an entire unit.

CRM 3.0 Authentication Problem
Aside from my issues customizing CRM, I'm running into a problem
logging in.
Domain users are not able to login and it will continue to prompt for a
username and password in IE. If I add a user to the "Domain Admins"
group temporarily, they login fine. Are there additional groups that
CRM users need to be added to?

Outlook client and a kerberos problem
I install the outlook client and it did not show me any problem but when I
open outlook and try to open CRM tap, it shows me an error messages (with no
revelevant information - an error ocurred loading Microsoft CRM
functionality). At the application log I can see several errors - from two
different origins:
Origin : MSCRMAddressBook
Origin : MSCRMAddIn
And at the system log, I see the following error.
The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from the server
host/crmserver."our domain". This indicates that the password used to
encrypt the kerberos service ticket is different than that on the target
server.

Can't relate Accounts with its Contacts in CDF
After winning a few battles, my migration came to a full stop again.
The problem I find now is that I can migrate Contacts and Accounts, but
they are not related. I just don't know what else to try in the
PrimaryContactIDName (for accounts) and AccountIDName (for contacts)
fields. I thought I had to put there the integer that was in the
ContactID or AccountID in the CDF, but it gave me no results.
If it makes a point, I'm starting the DB from scracht, and after
importing this, I need to import lots of contracts so using the bulk
import tools it is not an option.

Manual removal
Anyone know of the proper way to manually remove CRM for Outlook. I went to
remove it, i get the message that it has to be uninstalled by the person who
installed it which is the user. BUT, that user left long ago and the account
was deleted. I just have not had luck finding the manual removal
instructions.

Right now when I bring up a contacts cases it defaults to only show Active
cases. I need it to default to show All cases. Can this be done?

Outlook Client CRM 3.0 issues & Calender problem on Server
I have installed a test bed of CRM 3.0 on SBS premium with SQL 2005 and have
a laptop which I need to use as the demo machine. However when I try to
install the laptop client everything is fine in the pre reqs apartment from
the fact the installation believes there is an incompatible version of the
client installed on the laptop. The same version was on the laptop but it was
removed prior to adding the laptop to the new domain.
There are no references to the client in Add/Remove programmes, no folders
under Program Files and I can find no registry entries. Does anyone know of
somewhere else on a machine that the installation software looks and then
thinks there is another copy on the machine?
Also after the installation of the server I have 2 errors. ONe is that the
calender on the web based version doesn't work, I simply get a message asking
me to contact the system administrator. And the reporting services side of
things says that the virtual directory doesn't contain any metadata but going
through the Reporting Services deployment process no errors occur and it
creates the VD.
Any ideas on these points?

Deleting records in PrincipalObjectAccess Table
I have setup a new, custom entity that will associate multiple Owners
with one account. The custom entity record will contain the AccountId
(linked to Account entity) and the OwnerId (linked to the User entity).
My onSave code will pull the GUIDs of the Account and User entered into
the new record. Then I run the GrantAccess method to share the
selected account with the selected user (owner). The system creates
several records in the PrincipalObjectAccess" table, for objects
(contacts, opportunities, activities, etc.) inheriting rights from this
account.
I now need to handle the following:
1.) Deleting the Share records form the PrincipalObjectAccess table,
when the Custom Entity Record is removed. I could see this table
getting filled with junk records after a while.
A. I do not know where to place my custom code when doing a
Delete. Can someone help me on this?
B. If I could find where to place my custom code, an option for
me would be to run the RevokeAccess method, removing the sharing access
of that User to that Account. However, this only sets the
'AccessRightsMask' field in PrincipalObjectAccess table to zero (0).
I would prefer to delete the records out right. There is no
'DeletionStateCode' field in this table, though. And, I do not know
how to determine which system generated records in this table are
related to the record referencing the Account in question. Anyone know
a solution?

attach the save document to the activity letter record.

Underlying Connection was Closed when opening System Settings
I've seen a couple of threads on "Underlying Connection was Closed"
when opening System Settings. I just found a solution not mentioned in
those posts and thought I would add to the knowledge base.
System Settings requires a connection to Microsoft SQL Reporting Server
(SRS). If your SRS server is down or offline the above error will be
displayed.

to it using the URL from my pc. When we try to connect using a Treo over

Mobile Sync over 3G mobile network.
Hi There,
I have a question related to perfoming a sync over the 3G network to my
Other Perimiter Mobility environment.
I can perform a succesful sync when the device is connected to the DMZ
IIS server and all 3 websites sscerda, msgbus.asmx, subscriptions.asmx
can be viewed.
When the device is connected to a 3G mobile newtork I can still open
and view the 3 websites, sscerda, msgbus.asmx, subscriptions.asmx
through IE but can't perform a sync.
The setup is basically that my DMZ IIS server has an 10.2.**.* address
that has a NAT configured to an expernal IP address 193.120.***.**. I
can access the three websites using both the external IP and the fully
qualifieddomain name of the DMZ IIS server.
When starting a sync I get prompted for a password. I enter the domain
admin user that was used to install and configure and that seems to be
accepted only then during the sync process I get a message stating that
A connection could not be established. Please try again later.
Anyone seen this before or has ideas how to trouble shoot.

We used Scribe to import our data into CRM 3.0. Unfortunately, it skipped
some custom fields in the process. We are therefore missing important data.
Any trick I can use, knowing my scribe licence is expired? (Programminig,

Using Outlook Client instead of CRM Web
When my company first started using CRM we used the web interface and
had the exchange router rules setup to send emails to CRM and queues
set up for general email accounts such as sales@company.com.
My sales people were not happy with the email interface so we are
switching to the Outlook client and I have 2 questions.
1. When using Outlook do I remove the exchange router rule for the
user that is now using Outlook client instead of the web interface?
2. Any suggestions on how to implement queues using Outlook. I have
one sales person who has their own email account and also responds to
