I've set up a test CRM4 system, and configured IFD using the IFDTool.

If I try to connect to the CRM system via Internet Explorer, from a remote
network, I see a CRM Forms-based Authentication login screen. However, no
credentials appear to work. Regardless of what user account I try, the
creds aren't accepted.

I've verified that anonymous access is enabled on the website, and that
Windows Authentication is checked.
I've verifed that the MS CRM Asynchronous Service is running.

I've also checked that the IUSR_servername account password is set to
never expire, and that account is used for anonymous access.

Anybody know what else I can check?

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds like you have the IFD working correctly - meaning you're seeing the
IFD screen and the only problem is loggin in? If that is correct, then the
obvious question is whether or not you are trying login with a valid CRM user
- Is the user you're trying to use a Deployment Administrator?

Yes. I'm trying to log in as a user that has the CRM System Administrator
role.

One problem might be the URL you are trying (believe it or not). Can you
verify that the URL you are trying is http://<organization name>.<server
name>.<domain name>.com/net/org?

Hi Fortis,

So it has to be <organization name>.<server name>.<domain name>.com?
Because our URL is actually <organization name>.crm.<domain name>.com. That
will not work?

The strange thing is it does authenticate when I access through IE (I get
prompted with the forms based authentication). However, when going through
Outlook I get presented with the same form but the same credentials do not
work.

Ah - That's probably a different error then. Have you selected 'An Online
Service Provider' as your connection preference for the outlook client?

That is the required configuration for IFD deployments.

Hi All

Some help will be greatly appreciated.
my domain is contoso.com
My org name is Contoso
I have setup my IFD using the tool to point to https://Contoso.contoso.com

I have created DNS entries and resolved everything correctly.

When I try to login from external, I cannot connect using the Outlook
client. I get the sign in page, however it fails to connect. If I browse via
the IE to the same site , I get given an ISA server forms authentication
page. If I enter the credentials I get into CRM.

What am I missing??

Hello guys,

On the IFD Tool you have to set your IP range for internal access.
This means that all IP connections inside the range you specified will
be authenticated through AD. The rest, should be authenticated through
SPLA.

So, try to enter your organization network IP range on the IFD Tool
and try again. This is not documented on the (very poor) IFD
Documentation.

Leo Lopes @ L3
