Policies Please Help!!!
Hello,
I will try to be clear but I have a very strange problem with the CRM
policies.
My Business Units are like this:
Root: Organisation
Depending on Root: IT Department
Depending on IT Dep. : Dev Team
Depending on IT Dep: Operations
Depending on Operations: Support
The pb is that I want that Cases created by Support BU are only read access
to Dev Team, not write.
I give Dev Team write access only to their BU but they can still write in
cases created by Dev Team.
It is only if I assign the case to someone at Operations BU (so at the same
level as Dev Team) that Dev team cannot write in the case?
Is there something I am missing here or I don't understand how scope in
working...

Hello,
I'd like to know if it is possible to customize the activity object from the
isv file like for the other CRM objects.
I tried to add a button on the activity object but it seems like it's not
working. (it's working when I do it on the Incident object).

Remote Access for CRM 3.0 Sales for Outlook
I'm using Outlook with RPC over HTTP and I'm looking for a good way to use
CRM 3.0 for Laptops over the web. I'd like to avoid VPN at this stage and
it's vital that these sync up often because we are using the service module
heavily. I would also like to get it to run on PC's not joined to the

PLS ADVISE REGARDING MERGING LEADS
Pls help,
If I've already merged two leads together with v1.2 through the multi-field
search option, is there a way I can "unmerge" the lead. Apparently if there
is something in both fields (ie Subject) the one that I merge to will stick,
however the merged one will not carry over that field.
Also, as far as utilizing the "RELATED TO" tool for contacts and leads, how
would I go about viewing that there is a "link" or related to a specific
contact.

Editing multiple records
We use CRM 2.0. I wonder if there is a multi-record editing command similar
to "Find & Replace". We have imported several dozen records as Leads. I wish
to update the Industry field to a single value, say "Insurance". How can I do
this without opening every single Lead record and changing the field manually?

Some of the CRM-SFO users have lost the CRM toolbar and folder list in
their outlook. We have tried re-installing the CRM add-in in outlook
and have also tried reinstalling the entire CRM suite. nothing seems to
work.

integrate phone call activities to outlook
Those cusotmers that rely on Outlook for managing their CRM activities (which
is the direction Microsoft is going, which is great) do not use phone call
activities in CRM because these do not integrate into outlook tasks and they
do not get reminders on those.
It would be great to have a configuration option to enable CRM Phone Call
Activity to Outlook task integration (a future phone call is a task after
all) in addition to Task to Task integration.

Quote product mapping
I am trying to map the description field under the product form (field name
'description') to a custom field on the quote products form (field name
'productdesriptiondetail') and I am having difficulty making it work. I
first tried by adding this map under the existing 'QuoteDetail' map under
the Quote schema, but when the quote product item is saved, the description
does not come through. I thought this would work because this is the area
where I created the custom attribute.
I then tried to create a new custom map under the Product schema to the
QuoteDetail and that did not work either. I have tried to find the mapping
that brings the unit price from the product to the quote product, but I have
not been able to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

subaccounts opps/cases/contracts rollup
It would be great to have a rollup associated view displaying all
opportunities, cases, contacts and contracts linked to any subaccount (any
number of levels down) of the account you are on.
Currently you have to deal with pockets of sales and service information for
any account that has subaccounts. It is typically an executive type user
that would need a quick overview of everything that is going on in the
national account and you cannot expect this user to go around and check all
subaccounts to get the picture.

Adding a Contact to the Case object
Hi all,
I am trying to add a contact field to the Case object without success - I
want a property similar to the "Primary Contact" that appears on the Account
object - so that when we create a cse, we can select the contact as well as
the Account.
I tried using the existing "responsiblecontactid" but this just gives me a
bad lookup error when I click the icon to select a contact.
Any advice appreciated....

Really odd problem sending e-mail from CRM
Hi there!
I had just installed a new CRM and wanted to test e-mail functionality.
After installing Exchange Connector on my Exchange box, making sure the
registry keys are ok and both machines (CRM and EXC) are visible to
each other... I tried to send an e-mail from CRM and it worked. So did
the second message and the third, *but* the fourth failed. Event log on
CRM box shows only a "general platform failure" and on the Exchange
machine I got a " failed to deliver to all servers" error.
Odd, isn't it?

Hi,
When installing SFO in Windows XP with MSDE SP4 the setup is unable to
complete with error message: "Setup has failed because of an error. Install
it separately and restart Setup.exe"
SP4 was already reinstalled.

Emailing Routing in Mixed Environment
We are setting up CRM 1.2 in a mixed NT4 (Exchange 5.5) and AD (Exchange
2003) environment. I need a little help setting up the email routing.
I set it up according to scenario 2 (page 72 of the Implementation Guide)
which involves a separate subdomain for the CRM Exchange server.
Here is the behavior as indicated on page 75:
In each of these scenarios, Microsoft CRM users and queues send messages
from the Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 server by using the Microsoft CRM
subdomain (user@crm.adventure-works.com). Replies to these messages are
handled in one of two ways:
* If the reply message is to a Microsoft CRM user, the message is forwarded
to the Exchange 5.5 organization and appears in the Microsoft CRM user's
Exchange 5.5 mailbox. Because the Microsoft CRM user is not an Active
Directory user, no Microsoft CRM e-mail activity event will be created on the
Microsoft CRM server by the Router.
* If the reply message is to a Microsoft CRM queue, the message is accepted
by Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 and delivered to the mailbox of the
Microsoft CRM queue on Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003. An e-mail event is
posted to the Microsoft CRM server by the Router.
Is there any way to have the best of both worlds and allow replies to users
appear as email events and also route back to the Exchange 5.5 server?
What we don't want is to have the CRM users be forced to check two
mailboxes: their primary Exch 5.5 and the new Exch 2003.
If not, is it common practice to set up all users as queues in this type of
coexistence setup?

We are trying to create a new Entity in the module Customizable Entities, in
the page Relationships we are trying to use the table name PriceList but this
table is missing in the dropdown text .

New CRM 1.2 installation on SBS2003 issue
Hi,
I've followed the quick guide setup for MS CRM 1.2 / SBS 2003 Premium.
However when I came to check the website 'mscrm' after the installation a
logon box appeared. I typed in my administrator username/password (this was
the profile used to install crm), the IE6 window flashes for a second and
then closes. Why is that? I've tried with another domain user which naturally
gives me a user access error.
I understand that I should have setup a crmadmin user to install the
program, but how do I move forward from this?

Problems opening certain Email Activitys
Hello Gents,
I have stumbled across a very interesting problem this morning with the CRM
1.2.
When re-activating a case, and opening a Email in the history folder, i get
the below error, Now, please understand that this only happens on this case,
other cases do not have the same problem.
This has me stumped, seeing as the activity is in SQL, any information or
guidence would be greatly appreciated.

Microsoft 3.0 Workflow on a Phone Call
Hello!
When a phone call activity is created, I send an email to a specific person
containing the subject and description of the phone call record.
Is there a way to also include the "Regarding" field? I don't see it listed

Business Unit Issue
I have a sales rep that has just been moved from BU1 to a different BU2. The
sales rep manager (on the user record) has been changed to the manager of
BU2. The manager of BU2 cannot see ALL the sales opportunities belonging to
the sales rep. I looked at the OpportunityBase table and the
"OwningBusinessUnit" id is the old BU1 id.
What do I need to do to make the new manager of the sales rep (BU2) see all
of the rep's sales opportunities?

Order Process?
Hi,
Our Sales/Customer person is dismayed by the amount of clicking required to
sell a product. We just want to sell things, not play with the mouse in CRM.
Is there a way to get the Product field into the Order form and start with a
product?
Why doesn't the price list limit the choice of products available, like the
products tied to that price list?
Is CRM designed to start with a Quote, rather than an Order? We don't
really need to advance Quotes.
Can WorkFlow rules help simplify a sale?
Such as -Chose Product, Quantity, Account >Create Order, Create Invoice.
Instead of-Name Order, Chose Customer, Chose Price List, Save, Navigate and
Chose Product (from a full list of products instead of just the price list
items), Navigate and chose Unit, Quantity>Save.
Seems kind of excessive to the sales person and to me as well.

Send Email Permissions
We are trying to send emails to a group of contacts using the IE client. We
are going to tools, advanced find to define a group of contacts. Then we
choose actions, send direct email.
When we choose a template and try to complete the activity, we get a message
saying that the user doesn't have permission for this action.
Our administrative users can perform this action, but the Salesperson and
Customer Service Users are not able to complete the action. We have perused
the security role settings but are unable to figure out which one is
affecting this.

MS CRM 3.0 - Word integration
Recently, at a CRM 3.0 event in Dallas, we were shown the ability to access
live CRM data within Word. I've touted this feature to a very hot prospect
and they'd like to see it in action, but I haven't found a way to show that
to them yet.

Please help: Deployment Manager fails
I'm trying to update many of the templates in CRM but I am unable to do
so because I can't get into Deployment Manager. The exact error I get
is Microsoft CRM system administator priveleges are required to use
Deployment Manager. That error is then followed by several Snap-in
failed errors. I have read the countless posts about this problem and
none of the ideas have helped. I have tried the following:
1. Made sure I was using the user that installed CRM which does seem to
have full rights in CRM.
2. Made sure the user is a domain admin.
3. Made sure the user has a license.
4. Made sure the databases were not set to restricted.
5. Beat the CRM server with hammer 3 times while screaming at the top
of my lungs.
The CRM 1.2 server is running on a Windows 2003 Server and SQL 2000
Server is on the same machine. The AD server is on a seperate system.

Email Template
CRM 1.2 - I created an email template related to invoices - all works fine
can pick out invoice related fields for body of email etc no problem. Saved
template then go into workflow mgr and create a new rule to send an email
when an invoice is created using this new template. Problem is that the new
template I created isnt shown in the drop down list of templates?

Problems During installation
Hi,
I got some problems during installation.
I have a testserver. Athlon 1800+ 512 RAM
There are installed 2k3 Server Datacenter Edition SP1 full patched,
SQL2000SP4, WSUS server and Exchange 2k3 SP2
I got an error at the end of installation saying:
Microsoft Customer Relationship Management Server Setup Error
Failed to install Microsoft Customer Relationship Management Server.
Failed to install MSI part of Microsoft CRM Server setup.
Unspecified error

Any Idea what I should do ?
All services are running at the end of installation but the workflowmanager

Custom Web Service: Soap error in WhoAmI() Method
Hello,
Here is the issue:
CRM 1.2 installed on Windows 2003 SP1 on the "CRM" domain.
I have created a web service that automatically share a case within a team.
The web service is called from a Post URL in a workflow rule at the creation
of the case.
The paramater passed to the Web Service is "incidentid"
I have tested the web service locally, by calling the URL in Internet
Explorer (logged with my CRMAdmin) and it works perfectly.
Now if I try to test from the CRM app locally or remotely (still using my
CRMAdmin) it does not work.
From the Web service trace I can see that using the test service page the
logon name is CRM\CRMAdmin, which is fine but when I run the webservice
through the CRM app, then the Logon name is CRM\CRM-SRV$ (CRM-SRV is the
name of my CRM server that is also running SQL Server 2000 sp4).
In the event log I get the following SOAP Error (tracked in my web service):

My web service is using .Net framework 1.1 sp1...
It is very strange as it is working when I test it but not from the CRM.
It seems user's credentials cannot be retrieved from the WhoAmI() method...

Failed to import sample data to CRM 3.0 beta

the wizard.
Importing the users ist ok but the, the following error occurs (lots of

Need to dumb down CRM 1.2
Our user adoption rates are pitiful on version 1.2. We purchased c360 in the
hopes of bringing those rates up. Still users complain that the product is
too cumbersome to use.
Soooo the Sales Director has asked if the following is possible to "dumb
down" the current version of CRM (1.2) so that users won't be intimidated by
the extra options.
1. On the Home Page, can we only have Forecast Manager (c360) and
Multi-Field Search listed in the Navigation area (left side) for all Sales
Person roles?
2. Can we remove Workplace from the system entirely? No-one uses this.
3. Can we remove Reports? This is something else that users with the
SalesPerson role do not need to see.
4. Our Sales folks will only click on the Sales button. Can we only list
Accounts, Leads, Contact, Opps, Forecast Manager (c360) and Multi-Field
Search (c360). The rest of the stuff is "fluff".
5. When a salesperson clicks on Sales, can it automatically take the user
to the Forecast Manager (c360)?

Many to Many relationship with CRM 3.0 entities
I saw in another post that you can do Many-To-Many relationships in CRM
3.0 by creating an additional entity with many-to-one relationships.
Does anybody have an example of this?
I have created a seperate entitiy with many-to-one relationships to
both entitie's that I want to join.
Now how do I get a form to display all the other entities records so I
can pick from them and link one as i see fit.
