Estimated Revenue of an Opportunity
Hi folks,
It would be very useful to be able to simply quote an amount for an
Opportunity without having to break the amount down into individual
products. This can be done through the Estimated Revenue field of an
Opportunity. When it is set to be user provided, the estimated revenue is not
carried over automatically when a related quote is created. Write-in products
can be added to a Quote, Order or Invoice to achieve that functionality but
as far as I can see there is no facility to
achieve the same thing with an Opportunity.
Basically I would like to set an Estimated Revenue value for an
Opportunity which is then carried over to the Total amount field of a

Summary of Duplicate Account, Contact and Leads
I have read many posts about this topic...and these are my observations:
1. You can control duplicate creation on records using the onSave JScripts,
this work when you create new accounts, contacts
2. You can control duplicate imports using ISV solutions like C360, which
evalute duplicates for Accounts, Contacts, Leads
3. However, I am not sure if the above mentioned solutions validate
duplicates during the conversion process of a lead into an
account/contact...does it?

Subprocesses not appearing in Sales Process Workflow
Details:
Opportunity entity, Sales process.
MS CRM 3.0, completely fresh install
1 Custom field: Proposal Status, picklist {accepted, rejected}
What I was trying to do was this:
On Create workflow -> Go through the whole process -> at the end
branch and set win or loss, based on other attributes.
As there is no branching in Sales Processes, I tried to use two manual
rules to achieve the same result. These manual workflow rules didn't
appear under the "Run Subprocess..." in the "On Create" workflow.
They also don't appear in other manual workflows. I also tried
creating a completely empty "On Create" workflow and two manual
workflows that were also empty, with the same result. This may be a
configuration issue or a limitation of Workflow Manager.

Contacts
I would like to be able to associate a contact with the company they work for
without creating an account. You can do this with leads as there is a place
in the view where you can put company name but there is no data base element

Bulk import of contacts
We are still in the process of importing/entering data into the
system. I have a spreadsheet of clients which includes their name,
contact details, company and position. I don't have any problem with
the bulk import tool with the exception of importing the company. I
realise this is slightly awkward as the company is entered as a lookup
on the contact form.
Is there any way to quick create a new account using the company name
during a bulk import of contacts? Better yet, can you also check if
the account already exists and if it does, link it through the look
up, and if not, quick create a new account.
My guess is that I'd have to write some sort of new script which is
similar to the bulk import tool, but with the ability to also create
new accounts. I've managed to avoid writing any call outs so far, so
I'm not really sure how to do this. Besides, surely this isn't a
unique problem!!!

Outlook freezes upon completion of CRM Synchronization
We have CRM3 with rollup 1 installed. We have Exchange running on a separate
server. I installed CRM3 Outlook Desktop Client and rollup 1 on my laptop.
When I synchronize, it appears to synchronize successfully. Then Outlook
freezes. No screen refreshes, etc. It appears that Outlook is taking about
20% of the CPU continuously for many hours (i.e., overnight and beyond).
I have duplicated this on multiple client machines, and it actually happens
if I have installed the Outlook Laptop Client as well.
What could be happening? Thanks!

Picklist value out of sequence
I have a picklist with values that are out of sequence and I need to revalue
the items in the list but the only way I can think of to do this is to delete
the list and start over. The only problem is that the list has been used, so
when I try to delete the list it says "The value associated with this list
option will be deleted permanently. After a list value it deleted from the
system, it cannot be re-added. Any existing records that contain this value
must be manually updated to a different value in the list".
All I want to do is revalue the list so the list value will be in sequence
(1,2,3,4,5).
Is there a way to possibly do this without losing what as been used already

error messages: "You must suply a valid URL" or "The logged-on user does not

Problem "Going Offline" with Dynamics CRM 3.0, SBS 2003sp1 and XPs
My Configuration - all with the latest updates applied:
Small Business Server 2003sp1
Exchange 2003sp2
SQL Server 2000sp4
Dynamics CRM 3.0 - with update rollup 1
Windows XPsp2 Desktop
Windows XPsp2 Laptop
Outlook 2003sp2
Hotfix KB_931270 installed - needed to stop Outlook from crashing on both
the Desktop & Laptop.
This is a fresh install of Dynamics CRM with 1 client and 33 contacts - NO
other data.
Problem: Attempts to have CRM "Go Offline" are unsuccessfull.
"Failed move data for entity 'Note' during action salnsert, countRows=1.
Contact your system administrator for assistance"
This produces 6 Events in the Application Event log (see below)
EVT file available.
There are two KB articles that are similar to this type of error:
KB_918108 - which is included in update rollout 1, and already applied on my
system
KB_923327 - which I have installed on the Server, Laptop & Desktop.
Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

My queue receives email, only when the email is sent from internally
directly to the mailbox / email address, when send from external directly to
that email address but not when the email address is part of a distribution
list that is housed external - ie inbound????

confused about create and manual events
i made and activated a work-rule with these characteristics:
entity type=account
event=create
the rule:
when an account is created the territory is assigned based upon the owner.
the test:
i converted 3 leads into accounts. and then i waited 30 miuntes.
the result:
none of the three new accounts have their territory assignments. however, i
then manually executed the rule and the assignments were made.
the question:
why didn't it make the proper assignment when the account was created via
converting the lead to an account? and why would an 'account create' rule
work manually if the account is already an existing (although its only been
in existance 30 minutes) account?

Workflow assignment of related records to account owner
Is there a way to have related records (quotes, opportunities and orders are
what I am really concerned with) automatically assigned to the account owner
if someone other than the account owner creates them? I would think this
would be no big deal, but I have not been able to figure it out and think I
am overlooking something.
Our structure pairs an inside sales person with some number of outside sales
people (anywhere from 1-4). The outside sales people own all of the customer
accouts. If an inside sales person creates an opportunity, for example, for
a particular account, I would like workflow to assign the opportunity record
to the account owner (the outside sales person). Any insight would be

Personal option for sync client grayed out
When trying to set a client computer to be the synchronizing client (from
Outlook's CRM menu, Options, Synchronization), it seems this setting is
sometimes available and other times grayed out. I'm not sure why it is

Possible to run DYnamics CRM 3.0 as multi-server isntallastion with replicated SQL
Hello,
I have a customer who's interested in Dynamics CRM 3.0, but they want
to run the application in 3 different sites, but with the same data. I
know that SQL Server supports some sort of replication, but is it
supported to run Dynamics with this config? THis would be a solution
with 3 identical Web/CRM servers (one in each site) and 3 SQL Servers
with the database that replicate changes off each other. Can this be
done?

Bouncebacks using email thru CRM
We are currently using the Small Business CRM version 3.0 & Server 2003. We
continue to experience multiple delayed, undeliverable, canceled, spammed
emails thru CRM. It seems to happen more frequently when we attach documents
(quotes) to the email messages. Maybe 1 out of 3 messages reach our
customers. Many of our sales folks are using Outlook in addition to CRM to
send mail. Some recommendations from our partner and other folks have been to
remove the tracking tokens, do not bulk email, and check the recepients email
address. We've never sent bulk emails from CRM. We've removed the tracking
tokens and our recepients email addresses are correct, because the same email
will reach them through Outlook. Our Administrator has sent the same message
from CRM and from Outlook and the code/background is the same. There are no
defining items to distinguish why one email is going through and why one is
not. We've ran complete diagnostic checks on the exchange server and have
contacted everyone we know to try to help us through this. Please help!

Problem with MS CRM Token in sending email from comaigne.

I have a problem with executing campaigns in MS CRM. I added a marketing
list to campaigns activities and sending mail merge email to all my clients.
Emails which were sending from mail merge (use word) do not have a MS CRM
token in their subject. So answers are not automatically linked to campaign
activity.
In my MS CRM system settings dialog box I set option email tracking for
enabled and I donâ??t have problem with sending email form MS CRM.

Track in CRM problem with image
Hi!
I have a problem when I try to track an email(with a gif image inside) in
CRM. The email just can't be tracked. Then I installed this hotfix KB925532
that suppose to solve this problem. The email could be tracked now but the
image has been put in the attachment as attachment.bin that I could not open
later on. Is there anyone knows this problem? Is there a way to solve it?

mail merge from marketing list
As both a provider of CRM solutions to customers and also a user, i find it
absurd that i cannot mail merge from a marketing list. to do this i double my
work by using advanced find to search for the list i created, which then
saves in 'my view' which then you have to bring up then you can mail merge.
it makes for scattered lists, and more confusion all round, especially when
the sales team are asked to populate lists.
simple - marketing lists need to have the functionality to mail merge from.

Report Server Date Discrepancy with CRM Display
Hi All,
I have just uploaded one report using Microsoft CRM. Everything works
fine, except modified date which is displayed in CRM Report Grid for
this report is tomorrow's date. I think it happens because of how CRM
manage UTC time and it thinks that Report server's date is in UTC
format.
All user's setting in Microsoft CRM is UTC+8 (including user who
uploads the report). CRM and Database (+ Report) server is located on
different physical servers, which their time zone setting have been
configured to GMT+8.
For example:
Upload Report: 08 March 2007 18:30 (Local Time/UTC+8)
Created/Modified Date field in Report Server database (Catalog table):
08/03/2007 18:30
Displayed in CRM: 09/03/2007 (dd/MM/yyyy)
Is there anyway to solve this? I don't think there is other/further
problem with this (is there?), but my client demands explanation for

Appointment date in invalid

We are creating service activities for the scheduling of equipment which is
rented to a client for up to five years.
We created a service activity, set the duration and received an error
message stating that the "Duration of the Appointment is invalid".

Workflow Rule Date
Hi
I really need assistance with this. I am trying to create a worklfow rule
that fires when a particluar date is reached. I am aware the the workflow
rules are triggered by the Create, Assign, Change Status and Manual events
however I tried to create a workflow that after a records status changes and
the date is reached, a task would be created.
Unfortunately this workflow rule never fired. I set the workflow rule to
fire if the date field equals the Execution Time and nothing happened after I
selected the Date field as todays date on the record in CRM.

2007, i have the last update, but when i try to install i cant, i found a

Workplace Settings access
Our customer wishes to lock down (make read only) the Workplace settings area
for some users. We have tested removing the write privilege and it works
fine.
The problem comes when we add a new user to this role and need to change
their timezone settings.
It appears timezone settings can only be modified when logged in as that
user(seems odd given the access possibilities of the user settings
privileges).
Is it possible to change another users timezone setting or do we need to
relax the privileges whilst we are setting the users up?

Adding additional CRM CALs to and existing Enterprise installation
I have a client that has purchased 25 additional CRM user CALs and needs to
install on top of the existing 25. How do I do this? I have tried with the
deployment manager but doesn't seem to make sense.

Action Pack version for SBE, my client has an enterprise edition.

If you are running CRM 3.0 SBS edition, and would like to move the SQL Server
databases onto a dedicated SQL Server in the company can you do it under the
SBS license, or does the entire setup have to stay on the one server.
If a company starts out small, utilising SBS but then grows, and the
customer database grows is the only solution to upgrade the physical server
with more disk space etc apart from converting the SBS license to a
Professional license?

Tracking opens and clickthroughs in CRM
Hello,
This is a multipart question that relates to CRM as well as general
computer/internet knowledge...
I send out flyers designed in correlDraw and other desktop publishing
software. My first question is can I send a mass mailing to selected leads
and customers from CRM with the flyer EMBEDDED in the email, not as an
attachment? If its possible how is this accomplished?
Secondly, there are many services out there that allow you to design an
html flyer and send it out via the web using their email
(www.constantcontact.com). Once the flyer is sent out they can track how
many people opened the email, the amount of clickthroughs, and other
essential data. If in fact it is possible to send an embedded HTML flyer in
CRM, can it also track opens and click throughs? If not, which I am pretty
sure it cannot, how are these companies able to track that data?

We are running CRM 3.0 and have an issue logging off any client pc on our
windows domain network if MS outlook is open. If I remove the crm addin from
outlook all user can then log off without closing outlook first. Not the end
of the world but annoying.....anyone ran into this issue before? all client
PC's are XP Pro SP 2

Mobile Express Authorization
I recently installed Mobile Express on our CRM 3.0 server according to the
installation guide. When I go into Settings --> Mobile Configuration then
click the Add button for adding entities, I get an unauthorized error. Any

Create Workflow email (Without sending)
Can I use workflow to create an email activity for the assigned
salesperson (To the customer), but not have it sent automatically? I
would like the salesperson to have the opportunity to review it and
add information before sending. Is this possible without a custome
workflow assembly?

Improve Service Calendar scheduling by using nearest location
Hello,
I have different sites providing the same service, I want that from service
calendar, my users could schedule a service:
1) from the nearest site
2) if no resources available on this site, use any other site with available
resources.
Is CRM able to do this ?
How to enter rules on the service to have this kind of selection ?

CRM Alert Error Every 10 Minutes
I keep getting this alert error generated from my SBS 2003 Prem server every
10 minutes. I have restarted the server and even just IIS services but it
keep coming up. Is something not configured correctly with DNS and CRM 3.0
on this server?

Disabling a CheckBox
This is supposed to be a simply thing, need to disable some controls with
javascript in IE7, so i disabled in the onload event with this script:
