when you use lookup fields for accounts or customers it gets you a list one
level deep. The system will not present you with sub accounts when you click
on the top level account etc. In order to get this to work you would have to
change a lot of functionality in crm which will not happen.
You may need to look at a custom crm addin to give you some of the
functionality you need.
