    - Crystal Report viewer errors From time to time users are receiving the following error when generating reports in CRM. "Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. File xxxxxxx.rpt" any thoughts on what causes this? The ODBC connection from Crystal to the actual SQL DB? They have looked at the documented options of running their own SBS Server with CRM but they have no support staff themselves and would like to keep their Exchange services as they are and if possible bolt on CRM. After the initial install I added the Microsoft CRM Accounts to Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access Group.     - Updating CRM Templates Currently we have our CRM templates (to use for mail merging) saved locally. We would like to move these onto a shared drive on our network. However, the problem is that when they are shared, we are experiencing a normal.dot issue because it is being accessed by more than one person at a time. We are told there is no way around the normal.dot issue. So we are fine storing the templates locally. However, we would like to set up a process for updating these templates periodically, in the event that changes/updates need to be made. Since they are stored locally, not everyone would receive the updates though. Is there an automatic process to set up to achieve this?     - One Activity Record - Two 'Owners' Hi I was under the impression that all records in MSCRM have only one owner. However if I create a phone activity and then assign it to another user to deal with the activity shows up under the 'My Activities' view for both users, thus appearing to have two users who can call it 'mine' i.e two owners. Obviously I would not want it appearing as an open activity for me as I have just assigned it to someone else. Can anyone comment on this issue of two owners or suggest a way to assign calls as I require?     - Using MSCRM remotely, pre-sale questions Hello all, I want to know if I could make CRM part of my "virtual office". Would MSCRM work well in the following configuration? 1. Installed on MS SBS 2003 premium (I read the installing CRM on SBS 2003 instructions at the MS site) 2. The SBS would be installed on a dedicated server which would be hosted remotely at a quality server coloc 3. Up to five clients would access CRM from their PCs, laptops, or pocket PCs at their remote locations I don't know enough about SBS or MSCRM yet to know if the above would work well. Our company is made up of several people all working out of their houses all of who have high speed connections. Could this set up would work well to allow us all to access MSCRM?     - GPS Coordinates Field Good day, Seems like default addresses have a longitude and latitude field within MSCRM 1.2. Unfortunately a float data type has been configured which does not allow for modification. The format of a coordinate would be something like Of course we could enter our own custom field but with MS Map Point being a future consideration we would like leverage from this by using captured data in the correct format... Depending on accuracy required we could have values such as Redmond being 47-40'27.32 The only allowable format wraps the numerical value entered into something in the fashion of 471,027.32 - similar to a currency value this doesnt look great at all and can cause the lack of adoption by users...     - KB article search replies with "No Article records available in this view" I have seen this problem mentioned other places in these forums but the "fixes" didn't work on our end. At first we got errors when running a search but that was fixed by running the command: use <database> go exec sp_fulltext_database 'enable' go After that we did a "Start Full Population". We do searches that should show up results but we don't get any. We then did a rebuild to the database. That didn't help as well. So we submitted and published a new article and then did a search for it but got the same result "No Article records available in this view". The KB articles work fine otherwise but with our growing number of articles the search feature is crucial. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.     - CRM Privilege Error Hi Guys I am in a pretty sticky situation. At my company the CRM installation was done by a colleague who wasn't very sure of what he was doing and without consulting deployment guides did the installation and now numerous components of CRM donot work. I have managed to fix most of the problems but i'm still sitting with one whereby when a CRM user tries to make use of the "send direct email" functionality on CRM web it comes up saying that he has insufficient privileges to complete the task. After reading and re-reading the deployment guides etc i noticed 3 key factors that he had left out of his install that could p[otentially affect permissions viz. 1. He did not add the machine to the "Pre Windows 2000 Compatible Access" group in AD - Which i have now done 2. He did not modify the "Exchange Advanced Attribute" to include "CRMEmailEnabled" - Which i have now done 3. He did not add the domain users group to the SQL Databases that CRM writes to - Which i have now done As far as i can tell every issue pertinent to permissions etc has been completed by myself but still whenever a user tries to send direct mail it just brings up the error mentioned above constantly. I have come in the back end of this installation trying to figure out what this guy has done and having never seen CRM before up until 3 days ago i feal as though i'm banging my head against a brick wall. The worst of it is that my manager expects an answer soon. Look i wouldn't bother you guys if i didn't have to but after having read all the literature i could get my hands on and still coming up with nothing i am at my wits end. Hi

Does anyone know whether it is possible to merge a quote to Word (the
ugly template...) and then somehow seperate the line items by type.
Let's say my compnay sells software, hardware and training, I want to
see those items grouped together by subject or unit group......this is
however not possible I think..

Does anyone know how to manipulate the 'print quote for customer'
process so it will allow a user to group products by type or subject
and put them in the template in the correct section.

Any help is more than appreciated....
