    - Assign Activity to Queue in Workflow - CRM 3.0 Hi, In the regular user interface we can assign an activity to a user or queue, however in a workflow we can only assign an activity to a user. Why is that? Is there any workaround other than an assembly? Thanks! Tag: report snapshots Tag: 94825

    - Appointments Required Attendee's Changes User Type We have come across a situation where an appointment is scheduled and in the required attendee's field CRM users are added and it shows correctly on their CRM calendar. It then appears that at some point the users are changed from CRM users to contacts and the appointment is then removed from the users calendars and linked to our corporate Account record and their individual contact records.     - Count the amount of attendees in appointments/service activities Is it possible to let CRM 4.0 count the amount of attendees invited for an appointment or the amount of customers scheduled for a service activity? I was thinking of including some JavaScript which counts the amount of records in the attendees/customers field on saving and display that amount in a custom field. Can anyone confirm if this should be possible or does anybody know a better solution for wanting to track the amount of attendees/customers scheduled for an appointment/service activity?     - Opportunity - Company new relationship Hi, I have an MS CRM 3.0 environment and created a new attribute country in the entity opportunities. Users want to see the country the opportunity is for. I think this is the only way to do this. I created a relationship between opportunity.new_country and company.address1.country I added a mapping to the existing relationship with primary unit company, related entity opportunity and behavior parental. Now the strange thing is that in some opportunities (6 to be exact) we see the Country field is filled in and the same as company.address1.country. It isn't filled in the other 40 opportunities.     - Mouse-on view for Service Activities& Appointments in Service Cale In the service calendar in MS Dynamics 4.0 you are able to create new appointments and service activities (just like in CRM 3.0). Appointments and Service Activities which are created will be present in the Service Calendar. To see all details of such a record you must open it. But by moving your mouse on the concerning appointment or service activity, a text-box-view appears with primary information. With appointments the content of the following fields is displayed: 'show time as', 'subject', 'start time' and 'end time' With service activities the content of the following fields is displayed: 'show time as', 'subject', 'start time' and 'end time' What I would like to know is if there is a way to change the fields of which the content is displayed in the mouse-on view?     - Workflow emails and tracking in CRM 4 Hi, I have some workflows setup in CRM4 which send notification emails to internal CRM users. These emails reach the users mailbox, and appear in CRM, but when viewed in outlook they are not marked as tracked in CRM. If I send an email between users using outlook and click the 'track in CRM' button, the work correctly. If I use the CRM web interface to send emails, these emails appear in CRM, and in the users inbox, but there are not marked as CRM emails in outlook.     - Improve Address Functionality Could we have improved address functionality. The current implementation is so clumsy. The account address is mapped to new contacts on a one off basis, so any amendments to the account address will make potentially hundreds of contacts out of date, and amendments to a contacts address will be missed by the account. Also storing 2 addresses for every account and contact means you end up with a huge number of empty address records.     - value from field not accepted within onlineform (3.0 -> 4.0) Hy, We just tried to update our running CRM 3.0 to 4.0 there where nearly no problems! (1 report was not upgradeable) We where very happy. but right now a real problem was discovered: the fields: longitude and latidude from the contact form are no more accepted. Enter a value beetween .... But the values do perfectly match within the range When I delete the values I can save the form.     - CRM 4 workflow picklists We have been creating workflows in CRM 4 to create an opportunity when a field is changed on a lead. In general this has not been an issue (and much easier then in CRM 3!) expect I have an issue with custom picklists. I have a pick list on the lead, and a picklist on the opportunity with the same values. Using the create entity step in the workflow manager I can not set the picklist value on the opportunity to the value on the lead. When trying to set a picklist it only lets me use a dynamic value of an identical picklist.     - Need help on setting up Microsoft CRM Laptop Client for Outlook! I've recently moved my CRM Server to the new server outside of my LAN, it had a static IP address and be able to connect through Web Browser. But when I setup the Microsoft CRM Laptop Client for Outlook on my laptop to use Outlook to synchronize with CRM, I had a problem. After installing Microsoft CRM Laptop Client for Outlook and run Outlook, the error message appeared: "There is a problem communicating with the CRM server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.", and the MS CRM icon on the task show "disabled" status. Normally I can see only contacts associated directly with that account, not with sub-accounts. When a select that parent accounts, I'd like to see all the contacts from all sub-accounts.     - Workflow question, regarding emailing to owner of another entity I am trying to create a workflow rule to send email to account owner after two weeks when service ticket regarding to account is closed. When I'm creating email I can only find following available logical users (account/contact, account, contact,owner's manager, owner). I need to send the email to account owner. Is this possible somehow?? example case. Customer Test has owner Ted Tester, and his team member creates service ticket to Customer Test and closes it. I would like to send email to Ted Tester after two weeks after ticket is closed. As a reminder. I can send the email to team member who own's the ticket.     - how to create relationship between Account and Contact relationshi Hey all- I'm writing an application that creates accounts in CRM 3.0 automatically using the web service. So far, so good. The problem I'm having is programmatically assigning accounts to the contacts. If my accounts are already created in CRM, I should just be able to grab their guid and assign it to the contact using contact.parentcustomerid, right? Well, if that's the case, what should the code look like? How do I assign values to the type of Customer? If that's not right, can someone point me in the right direction? I got this sample code from one forum but it doesn't work for me. Example 1) Change lookups with code like this: contact.parentcustomerid = new CRMLookup(); contact.parentcustomerid.value = account.accountid.value; contact.parentcustomerid.type = EntityName.account.ToString(); Example2) You can also use the helper class and just use: contact.parentcustomerid = CrmSdk.CrmTypes.CreateCustomer(account.accountid.v alue, EntityName.account.ToString()); I don't know why i can't use the above code?     - Can't connect remotely after upgrading to Vista I just installed CRM 3 Rollup2 on a new Vista laptop and I can't connect from outside the office using the Microsoft VPN client.     - Merging ntext fields removes carrage returns, additional spaces and line breaks CRM 3.0 and 4.0 We have been dealing with this issue for a long time and are still exhibiting the issue in CRM 4.0. When merging some description fields (ntext) from our case records all the line feeds, carriage returns, extra spaces (more than a single space in a row) are removed and the field is merged as one paragraph of text.     - Workflow send e-mail CC optional recipients fails when field empty When using workflow to send email we want to populate the CC field from an "additional contact" field that is not always populated. When the field is populated in the CRM record, the workflow functions fine. If the "additional contact" field is left empty, workflow fails and remains in an error state. I know I can create additional rules in the workflow to check for the field containing data but it does not seem like the extra work and complexity should be needed. Anyone have any other ideas? When viewing the e-mail from the contacts history, the top of the e-mail displays a message: This message has not yet been submitted for delivery CRM 4.0 Eventually the mail delivers and the message goes away.     - Mobile express for CRM3.0 / W Mobile 6 I bought a htc TyTNII and I would like to run wcrm mobile for CRM3.0 on it. The installation manual says nothing needs to be installed on the PDA itself, only a whole lot of things need to be done on the CRM-server. Following the instructions for that, I have a Windows Mobile configuration screen added to CRM now, which seems to do would it should do. 1. However I have no idea how to open the crm mobile application now. What alias to use instead of the 'normal' http://mscrm? 2. Should I copy the 'Mobile application'- and 'Adfministrative interface' directory? I now copied them in a directory under Program files. Should I have copied it to a directory in the inetpub-directory? 3. Is it correct that nothing should be installed on the pda? If not, what should be installed on it and where to find that. 4. I installed CRM Mobile Express. Are there otrher versions? Should I have installed an other version? Where to find? 5. The installation guide tells me to set the location for the draftXML.xml and PublishedXML.xml in (I chose C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Mobile\ as the location for the files, see remark above) C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Mobile\Administrative Interface, not in the respective subdirectories C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Mobile\Administrative Interface and C:\Program Files\Microsoft CRM Mobile\Mobile Application.     - bulk change of all telephonenumbers I have all telephonenumbers entered in the format +31555-555555 or 055-5555555 or 0555-555555 (or 06-55555555 for mobile phone). Now I want to start making phonecalls directly using this field, so I will have to delete the minus sign in it. What is an easy way to do that?     - Sales Orders with a multi-part order Hi all, Is there a way to autofill line items in a sales order with an item that is comprised of multiple items as part of a kit. For example, if you had an instrument that when you enter the instrument as a line item on the sales order then the order would auto fill not only the instrument but all the accessories included with the instrument as additional line items.     - Failed move data for ISV Config I have seen this issue on the MS Knowledgebase and on the newsgroup, but my problem seems a bit different. I did a fresh install of my laptop along with the CRM 4 Outlook client. When I try to go offline, I get "Failed to move data for entity 'ISV Config' during action Insert, countRows=1." I have seen similar issues posted with specific entities noted - but the ISV Config seems different from what I have been reading. I followed the KB article, but still the same problem.     - CRM 4.0 Mail Merge Error: Record 1 contains too many data fields Hi, I have heavily customized the Account area in my CRM installation. There are 311 attributes. When I use the mail merge functionality using the 4.0 web client, after I open a word xml template and following pressing the "CRM Mail Merge" command button, I get the following error in a pop-up error window twice "Record 1 contains too many data fields". This happens again after the recipient selection form displays without any data and after the user presses OK. Does anyone know what is causing this?     - Workflow problem Hi, Ive setup a rule in the workflow manager to email a template on creation of a new lead in CRM v3.0 SBE. When a lead is created , We get a "Not enough privilege to access the Microsoft CRM object or perform the requested operation" logged in the debug log and the job ends up in the workflow monitor as paused. (The workflow service is running as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE). However, if the rule is manually run as apply rule from the GUI, the template works ok. Now I export 1 Account entity customisation, I opened the customisation in Notepad, did nothing and save the file as it is.     - Unable to use DynamicEntity() to exeute a response Hi, My CRM client has two custom entities set up, and I can use Dynamic Entity to create a record against those custom entities, respectively. Now, I created an entity for generating a sequence number and the plug- in will read the value and parse the incremented value to those entities. The original entities are related to "account" and "contact". The one that I created does not associated to any entity. For those two entities, I can able to create or update record with using Dynamic entity. However, the one that I create (for the sequece number) is not. I am able to retrieve of that custom entity with using Metadata SDK.     - How to Assign a PreferredSystemUserID as Task Owner during Workflo We have a business process for Accounts, which involves completion of certain activities. We use a workflow rule to stream-line creation of 'task' activities assigned to certain users to follow through on certain steps in the process. We are using the preferred user (preferredsystemuserid) to represent the user assigned as the client service rep for the Account. We then apply a workflow rule to build various activities, one of which is a task that needs to be assigned to the client service rep assigned to the Account (as noted in the preferred user attribute). How do you go about setting the Owner of the Task using the Preferred System User defined for the Account. Currently, we are having to set the owner to a specific user, who would then need to re-assign the owner. Maybe I missed something during the workflow rule, but I could not see a way to set the Owner of the task using the Preferred User reference. Our only alternative is to have a work-flow rule for each Preferred User that may be assigned to an Account, and then the related task created by the workflow could then use a specific user. Yet, I would have supposed that the workflow manager would have provided for this scenario. Is it possible that we need to use a different Activity (Phone Call, etc.)?     - Setup/Publish Reports for MS CRM 4.0 Professional on Separate Server? 1) I installed MS CRM 4.0 Professional on ServerA and specified that the data and report server will be ServerB. 2) No default reports were installed to ServerB; however, it does appear to have created a DeploymentName_MSCRM folder in Report Manager on ServerB. 3) I then read somewhere that "MS CRM SRS Data Connector" needed to be installed on the Report Server (ServerB) so I subsequently did that. How do I get the reports installed to the DeploymentName_MSCRM folder on ServerB now? Instructions I've seen mention running PublishReports.exe FROM THE REPORT SERVER to do that but it is installed on the CRM Server (ServerA), not the Report Server (ServerB). I have downloaded the report schedule wizard and created snapshots. The
snapshots are created. But the report gets generated when i click the
snapshot and the prepared time reflects the time i clicked.

The snapshot should be the data from a specific time point right?

Any help is appreciated.
