hi, i have a customer who has a wrongly entered server license. The correct
one is now entered so he now has 2 server licenses. I want to remove the
wrong one but can't see a way to do this....any ideas?

If i click new or upgrade license the 2 licenses don't appear in the
dialogue list box in order to be removed.

Hi Mark,

It's not obvious, but what you have to do is replace the account in
Deployment Manager. Here are the steps to take:

1. Disable account in CRM: On the Web Client in Microsoft CRM, go to
Settings > Business Unit Settings > Users. Click "More Actions" from the
Window's Toolbar and select "Disable". Click OK to the confirmation message
box.

2. Go to Deployment Manager, found on the CRM Server at Start > Microsoft
CRM > Deployment Manager. Select "User Licences" on the left panel. Select
the user you'd like to replace. This is the gotcha, you cannot delete a
user, you can only replace one. After you select the user you'd like to
replace, right click on that selected user and select "Change Account". The
standard window for selecting users comes up, find the user you want to
change the license to and click "OK".

That's all there is to it, easy - yes, obvious - no.

thanks for this reply David......but.......unless I'm not following you
correctly, you have described the method for assigning a user license to
another AD user.

What I'm actually trying to do is delete or remove a server license
completely from the system..... i.e. from within Deployment Manager under the
Server License Node I have a 5 user CAL License and 2 Server Licenses. One of
the Server Licenses has been entered when it should not have. It's got 10
user licenses attached to it (whereas the correct one had 0 as it works
alongside the CAL). I want to remove this 10 user Server License as it does
not belong to the customer,

regards,

Mark
