CRM 3
Exchange 2003
Has anybody else come across this problem please?
I have just found a strange thing.
This organisation receives many 'Safety' related emails each day from a
large Mining Client. The emails are sent from the Mining Client to us by
'forwarding as an attachment' so the actual email we receive is an attached
.msg file.
Problem definition
Emails are 'forwarded as an attachment' from outside this organisation to a
crm user: The attachment on the received email is truncated to between 60
bytes and 200 bytes and is of course unreadable.
There is an email in sent items caused by the crm 'forward as attachment'
rule; the attachment on this email can be read correctly here.
If an email is forwarded as an attachment from within the organisation to a
crm user then the attachment is ok. (looking into this to see if the crm
rule is applied in this case)
The problem is reproducible.
Solution
Removing the crm forward rule solves the problem.
Notes.
As far as I can tell, this is not a CRM problem but an outlook problem. The
problem doesn't occur when a crm user manually forwards a message as an
attachment, only when a message that is forwarded as an attachment from
outside the organisation to the crm user has a local outlook forward as an
attachment rule applied.
I am doing further testing but removing the rule definitely solves the
problem.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Daniel Beale.
