    - User names not to be displayed while sending emails Hi We have implemented CRM 3.0 for a customer who uses it for managing his Customer Service. There would be a thousand emails to their support inbox (support@xyz.com) and the CSR's answer it one after the after. Now when they reply to these emails, the email goes from their inbox displaying their names & email id's and not from the support inbox.     - How to customize the case id? CRMers, When a new case is created, CRM automatically generates an id of the form CAS-number-suffix. Is there a way to customize this so that it looks more like: CASYYMMDDnnnnnn where YY, MM and DD represent the date the case was created and nnnnnn is the unique id for the day?     - Case ID v/s Email tracking token CRMers, When you create a case for a support email, by default the generated case id is of the form CAS-number-suffix. When a support person replies to the email, the CRM system automatically adds an email tracking token to the subject line. This email tracking token is not the same as the case id. Questions: 1. Why can't the email tracking token be the same as the case id? Won't it make sense to use case id to track emails for a given support case? 2. Even if they are different, how can I disable automatic placement of tracking token on the subject line? We do not wish to confuse the customers with two tokens. The case ID should be the only token. When I open a support case with Microsoft, the standard "new case acknowledgement" email that I receive from Microsoft actually has the case id and not the email tracking id.     - Can I build Product Relationships I want to have a base product linked in some way to others (eg Printer and then a list of consumables).     - Steps to create a case from a support email CRMers, When we get a support email from a customer, it moves to the support queue and is assigned to a support person. This works. Now, I am trying to understand how to create a case out of this email and am a bit confused. I would appreciate it if someone can help me with the following questions. Q1. When an email is received in the queue, you can double-click it and associated the "From" address to a contact. So far so good. However, to create a case out of the email, I don't see any option anywhere. There is a menu item to create a new case. However, in this case, I have to copy the subject line from the email into the title for the case. I also need to once again specify the customer. This is slightly painful. Is there an easier way I missed? Q2. Once a case is created, now I see two items in my "IN progress" queue - the original email and the new case that I just created.     - Contract versus contract lines... CRMers, For our business, customers get one year standard support when they purchase a product (it is a software application). Therefore, I created a contract template with "coverage dates" as the allotment. The next step is to create a contract for a customer. This also seemed straightforward. However, it order to convert the contract from draft status to invoice status, I now am required to create a new contract line. Q1. Why do I need a new contract line when I already specified the necessary information in the contract itself. The most important information was the start and the end date for the contract and that has already been specified. Q2. When I create the contract line, I am required to enter Total Cases/Minutes. The contract template clearly states that this contract is of "coverage dates" type. Why then do I need to enter total cases/minutes? Q3. Contract line also makes it mandatory to enter the pricing for the contract. What is it that I must enter here? One year warrantly is a standard part of the product. The product is priced, not the contract. Entering a value of $0 does not work. $0.01 works though. It that what one must use? Thank you in advance for your help.     - Adding User in CRM 3.0 Mixed Mode Hi, I just finished installed CRM 3.0 in mixed mode. When i used deployment manager in order to add CRM users, no domain was found. In this case, i just could add the user manually from the settings tab on the form. Imagine if there are 70 users and i have to type manually. Is it intended behaviour in CRM 3.0 when implementing it in mixed mode?? As i believed when i set the native CRM, i did not encounter this problem. Using Deployment manager, I could find the domain and it's easier for me to add the user there. Or are there any hints in order to add users on mixed mode??     - Campaign Templates I'm trying to figure out how to use Campaign Templates, or at least some copyable framework for a campaign that I can copy over and over again each time I have a tradeshow, promotion, or whatever else. Campaigns are set up to do this or at least it looks that way but they don't accomplish my task. Maybe I'm using it incorrectly but it seems pretty straight forward. Here's what I've done. 1. Create a New Campaign Template from the Campaign screen. 2. Fill in the form information desired and click save. 3. Now I set up the activities that I want as part of my template so that I don't have to recreate them every time I do a campaign. 4. I save the campaign template and I go and look at my activities and low and behold the planning and campaign activities that I created in the template are in my Open Activities view even though a real campaign has not been created nor started. 5. So, my next thought was fine, skip the template and just copy existing campaigns that have been completed. 6. I tried completing the planning tasks and copying the template and that is not allowed. I have to delete the completed activities in order to copy the template as a template or real campaign. So, to me it seems like all the Campaign Template is good for is the form information and not intended to be used to copy activites as well. Yes it does copy activities over but not the way I would think it would (make a real activity from a place holder that is not a real activity). I don't see why real activities are created from template campaigns. Campaigns can be used very effectively on a one off basis but if you want to copy over to a new campaign this don't seem to occur logically. Maybe my logic is skewed, I don't know. If any one can explain this to me and help me figure out a way to use campaign templates like any other template with out of the box functionality I would greatly appreciate it.     - Change SSL cert hoses reports??!?! Howdy, If I keep IIS happy using publishing.domain.local, my CRM reports work great. However as soon as I switch it to server.domain.com I get generic errors. I am switching it to appease Outlook clients connecting to Exchange via RPC over HTTP. The Outlook connection doesn't like the publishing certs.     - Cannot View Reports Howdy, Using CRM 3.0 (new install) on Windows 2003 SBS Premium. When clicking on Reports in CRM web client I get: An error has occurred. For more information, contact your system administrator. Also, get the same message when clicking on Settings > Org Settings > System Settings. From what I have read, they are the same thing. When I go to http://server/reports I can see the SQL Server Reporting Services page, however there are no items listed. I'm assuming the installation should've set one up?     - Prior owner of a case notification queston Lets say a case has been assigned by one of our techs to another tech. I would like to have some way of informaing the tech via email that the person he assigned it to has acknowledged it, say by changing the cases staus.     - Error when bulk emailing Here is the error as summarized to me by one of our techs: There is a feature where you can send bulk email and make it look like it came from another person or queue (whatever that is). User has tested that feature successfully in the past by sending a message to himself and he made it look like it came from one of the other sales persons. Today he was trying to us that feature for the first time in a real message. The message was destined to about 75 recipients, but when he tried to send it, this error (attached) came up, and once that error comes up, he can?t do anything in CRM. Even if he closes IE and reopens it, he can?t logon. The error comes up right away. I think after his web session times out (20 minutes) he will be able to logon again, because that?s what we observed earlier.     - Exchange router not frowarding email to CRM Hi, Have setup CRM-Exchange Email Router & Deployment rules. When sending an email from outlook to external contact regarding a case (for example), external contact receives email with CRM tag. When external contact replies email arrives in inbox, but does not automatically go into history to attach itself to case. This has to be done by opening email & clicking "Track in CRM". The email from the external contact does get as far as the inbox of the MSCRMSystemuser mail box that was setup for the router, but does not get deployed from here in to MSCRM.     - Security Rules and Sharing Hi, We have a client with this scenario: BU1 - User A - Security role BU level for account entity - User B - Security role User level for account entity BU2 - User C User C shares an account that he owns with User B with read, write and append permissions. User B can now see, write, etc the shared account. User A, despite having permissions at BU level for account entity, cannot see the shared account. Our client needs that User A can see, write, etc the shared account without the need of sharing it with user A. Do you have any suggestion of how we can do this?     - .NET 2.0 and CRM Hi all, We had a client that had access to their calenders, then one morning (after their IT guy applied updates to their server, inc .NET 2.0) they could use all parts of CRM but not the calenders. They just recieved a not available error. I read some posts that said that .NET 2.0 when installed on CRM server or workstation can cause the calender to be unavailable. I informed the client to remove .NET 2.0 and put on .NET 1.1 with SP1. He has not yet done that but weirder again it now is available, the following morning, without change.     - MS SQL Server takes 100% cpu Alright, everyone has posted different slow CRM questions. Mine will be extremely specific. My organization runs CRM 3.0 with a pretty good sized database, size in my opinion should not matter, remember infinite scalability? Primarily with the Outlook 2003 add-in. Alright so they have an 'Offline Client', usually that means you'll be running on a laptop, or atleast that is how it is here. With 1.4 GHz and 1 Gig of memory exactly how does MS expect people to support a MS SQL server locally? It pegs the CPU, makes outlook a hog and the machine is virtually useless until 2-5 minutes after boot, and Outlook is slow even after completing the boot process. Both the sqlserver process and the helper process peg the cpu at different times. My question is, how do we make these laptops, with these necessary CRM apps on them, run at a reasonable pace. Is there some way to improve efficiency, or lower priority of the sqlserver, but my thought is that would only slow Outlook queries even more. So I guess the mobile/offline version of CRM makes a decent small form laptop useless. MS recommends going SQL32 on the server, but offline that won't stop the cpu from going to 100%, also increasing memory won't get the cpu to run more cycles so these fixes are BS. We can't be (and I am sure are not) the only people with this issue and MS still doesn't believe that it is as slow as it is. Do they test in a high-end environment for 25 minutes and then say we are ready to ship? I mean how did they not see that 'mobile laptops + sql server != good idea'. They USED to be able to click send email and the email would go out through CRM, and get logged.     - Migrating from CRM 1.2 to 3.0 Hello, I have a question about migrating data from 1.2 to 3.0. I do not really want to do an upgrade, but if it's the best option so be it. With the new abilities in CRM 3.0 for creating custom entities and attributes, I want to move a lot of our existing 1.2 data to new custom entities/attributes that better match their purpose in our system. My question is the best way to do this. Basically I see two scenarios: 1. Use the DMF to map all the existing data to the new locations on a new 3.0 system. This seems like the option to go with, however I am not sure how to maintain relationships between things like accounts and their activities/notes. I need to set a new unique ID in the CDF for each entity and I'm not sure how to relate these new IDs between entities. 2. The second option would be to upgrade everything to 3.0, and then move data around once it is upgraded. One of the big problems I see for my situation is that I need to turn all leads into accounts. Is there a way to qualify all leads into accounts in some sort of bulk fashion? Any ideas or potential troubles with what I am thinking will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
