CRM v4 no internet installation error

Hi all:

I am trying to install v4 on a machine without internet access by following
a post at:

http://www.philiprichardson.org/blog/post/Installing-CRM-40-without-Internet-Access.aspx

The post says that the following folder structure is needed:

. \Redist\i386\VCRedist\vcredist_x86.exe
. \Redist\i386\VCRedist\vcredist_x64.exe
. \Redist\amd64\VCRedist\vcredist_x64.exe
. \Server\i386\SetupServer.exe
However no matter where I put the VC redistributable file I get an
installation failure with the message "The system cannot find the file
specified". I thought it might be because I had the wrong path before the
first "\" but when I checked the log files I saw the message:

"Installer path for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime set to
C:\Install\CRM\1033\DVD\ReDist\i386\VcRedist\vcredist_x86.exe"

Which is exactly where that file is, but then the next line gives that error
message.

Can anyone make a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong? I have been
staring at the directory path for 10 mints to be sure it matches what the
log says and it does, so I don't understand why it says it cannot find the
file.

Hi John;

Is it failing because the visual c++ pre-requisite is not installed? What
if you try to pre-install it, then maybe the installer won't bother trying
to find it?

Hi Dave:

Thanks for the note. Phil details in is post that there is an issue with the
CRM installer tat even if the VC++ pre-req is installed, the CRM installer
doesn't detect it and will always try to re-install it. That's why it goes
to the internet and putting the vc redist file in the install directories is
supposed to negate the need to use the internet, but I cannot get it to
work.

I am sure the error is between the chair and the keyboard, but I cannot
figure it out right now.
