Retrieve AccountID?
Anyone know how you can retrieve an accountID using the SDK?
The idea of what I want to do is verify a contact's login against
their account.. then want to create a case or modify a case in their
account,, in order to create the case I need the accountID, but how do
I retrieve this?
Seems the Retrieve method of crmaccount REQUIRES the AccountID as part
of the method.

Report Error after Upgrade to 1.2
When I try to run a report in CRM 1.2, I get the following error:
File frs://Input/a_154/002/000/666/ed433b7a59dabf8.rpt not found on File
Repository Server.
I am running a 2 server setup (Exchange and CRM) Both are WIndows 2000
Advanced Server, Exchange 2000 Enterprise Edition.
Any thoughts?

CRM client manual removal or over the top install
I need to manually uninstall the CRM client for outlook.
The user profile that was used during installation has
been overwritten with another profile, so i cannot use the
add remove program files uninstaller. I cannot reinstall
over the top as the app is already on the machine and it
won't let me.
How can i manually remove the client or force it to
install again over the top.

Installing 1.2 and getting SQL error...
Help!
I am trying to install 1.2, but I cannot seem to get
around it trying to create the CRM databases. I am
installing on a 2003 Server and my SQL 2000 is running on
2000 Server. During the installation wizard I am able to
connect to the SQL server and there is seems to be no
difference on which account I setup, local, Domain, etc.
The error occurs as soon as the installation starts and
is as follows:
Setup was unable to install Microsoft CRM Server.
Setup was unable to create the Microsoft CRM databases.
Failed to run script:00 - create mscrm.sql.
HRESULT:80040E14 Unknown error. (80040E14)
I don't think it matters, but this server had 1.0
installed on it and the databases for the installation
were created to this same server just fine. I have
uninstalled that version and deleted those databases
since that installation did not work on 2003 Server.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

mile long!) and I indeed saw the paramters I put, but when I try to reopen

can not send email with an image
i wanted to send an email to multiple contacts with an image that can be
seen at the body part of the email. so i created an email template but could
not add the image file to the body of the email. since i could not attach
the file, i opened the image file with internet explorer and i drag and
dropped the image on the email template. it looked all right. the image can
be seen on the template. but when i sent it. the recipient could see no
image but the red x sign.
any solution for sending this type of image based emails from crm?

Post CallOut and credentials
Hello,
We want to create a post callout for an activity phone
call. In the post callout code we want to update a custom
field called CFSlastphonecall on the account record that
is associated with the activity phone call.
The question that I have is how do we make sure that we
are using the users credential infomation to update the
account record.
Normally the credential code I use to initialize the
BizMerchant and User objects is like the following:

have the lastmodified by field set to the crm admin
account and not user who updated and saved the phone call
activity.
Is there a way to use the initiating callers crm
credentials in the com+ settings or C# code?

Microsoft Search
Hi,
I posted this in SQL newsgroup and got a suggestion of
turning off MS Search; however, I wanted to make sure
it's not needed by CRM before turning it off.
I'm running 1.2 on a box with W2k3 Ent, SQL 2k, and
Ex2k3. The past week I started noticing the hard drive
and DVD-ROM lights lit up every sec nonstop. It just goes
on forever. When I checked EV I found that MS Search was
running every 15 minutes lasting 6 seconds each time. Is
MS Search needed by CRM? I don't have anything else
running on SQL except for CRM.

Data Migration from MS CRM to MS CRM?!?
Hi all,
I have still the same problem and I still can't find a solution...
Situation:
- We worked with the sample database "Adventure Works Cycle"
- Since Monday we have a new licence key that works only with our company
name
Questions:
1) How can I change the company name to get the key work? (I think this
isn't possible...)
Second Possibility: I installed the MS CRM Professional 1.2 (German) again
with the right company name. But then the existing database cannot be
connected, because it belongs to the Adventure Works Cycle company.
2) How can I connect the database with the new company?
3) Or how can I 'migrate' the existing MS CRM database to the new MS CRM
database?
I read parts of the DMT Guide... I could not believe that I have to do all
of these complex steps to migrate data from CRM to CMR!?!? I only want to
register MS CMR! Nothing else...

Activity -- problem opening existing Activity
We are experiencing a problem when trying to open certain activities. The
activity will not open and eventually we get a timeout.
What we have found is that in the ActivityPartyBase table for these
activities, instead of a few entries for the particular ActivityId, there
are over 15,000 entries each with the same ActivityId but different
ActivityPartyId values.
It seems that the inability to open the activity in CRM is due to all those
records in ActivityPartyBase. This is only happening periodically with a
small number of activities and appears to be random.

On the Contract List form you have Tools/Advanced Find
Option but if you go into the details of a single
contract you lose the Advanced Find menu item.
I would like to be able to hook up Advanced Find to this
form. Has anyone done this sort of thing (not that
particular customisation but that kind of customisation).
I'm telling myself that they are just aspx pages so it
should be no big deal, except for the fact that simple
customisations are stored in xml files and therefore
there is that added layer of complication.

Hi all,
I would like to create a new database/table to save information on the
Oppurtunity -> Competitor/Partner form to the local MSDE when a user
is offline.
When the user goes online again, I would like to set up the
replication so that the data (Competitor/Partner information) stored
locally on the MSDE is synched back to the CRM Database (in which case
I think I'll have to add a new database/table to the CRM Datastore as
well, since it does not have the table I want).
Is something that can be done? If yes, anyone have any ideas of how to

another problem preventing use of the system. After

system. After a short period of use the web clients
(and possibly Outlook clients) will get into a state

How do you Print Orders?
Seemingly simple question here, but I cannot figure out
the answer. Or at least the easy answer
How do I print a complete order?
I fill in products, quanities, recalculate values and now
I want to print and fax the quote to the customer...
If I hit the print button on the quote, it prints all info
from each of the tabs on the account. It does not refer to
the products or quantities.
If I go to the product level, hit the print (on the
individual window, not the main window) button, it prints
the product(s) chosen, price per unit, quantity and
extended amount for products that are on that screen (no
write in products) and no information about the customer.
Not very useful.
If I change to the write in product tab, it does the same
as above, ignoring existing product and customer info...
If you promote to an Order, same deal.
If you promote to an Invoice, same deal.
Shouldn't that be a simple task?

Today I tried to get my keys for CRM 1.2 (I'm a MS Certified Partner) and I
couldn't figure what information it needed. I got the latest 1.2 CRM cd's
with the latest MSDN package, and a sheet of paper with a web site to goto
after February 9th. So this morning I tried to do as instructed, and
couldn't figure out what options to pick and what information to put in.
Any other MS Certified Partners out there have success with this ?

CRM for international companies - multiple currencies
Hi,
Being an international company, our pricelists are in
different currencies. MS CRM stores the currency on the
Organization level and not on the Business Unit level,
which essentially prevents our use of it.
(1) Any suggestions for a way to overcome this problem
(besides "translating" the EU, EMEA and US pricelist to
one currency, e.g. dollars, or waiting for CRM 2.0) ?
(2) I noticed that the database schema
contains "Organization ID" for all basic tables. This
probably means that multiple organizations can run on the
same CRM server. Currently, I can't see any way to add
another organization. Is this feature coming up ? This
can solve the currency problem but probably create
administrative and reporting problems (e.g. the CEO wants
to see one pipeline report).
Bottom line - Is support of multiple currencies in
Microsoft's development roadmap ?

Data Migration Framework failed
Hi,
I tried to use the DMF to migrate simple data in the CRM. But it
failed.
It is a very simple scenario. I have a csv-File with only an
AccountNumber and Name.
I tried different cases. First the one above but it failed because the
AccountID can not be NULL in the CDF database. Then I generate my own
IDs but still no effect.
So I tried to set the AccountID as identy row but again no success.
Then I added a forth column in my source csv-file which has the
OwningUserName in it.
I fired the stored procedure to map the users. But the migration still
won´t work.
I get the data in the CDF Database but when I run the migration tool
all completed with no errors but I have no data in my account table in
the mscrm database. What is my fault?
I tried this for such a long time but no success. Hope someone can
help me.
There are some spread sheets to do the mapping provided by Mircosoft
but they need to be revised. They are some fields that are required
but in the table of the CDF database this attribute is Nullable?????
(e.g. OwningUser)

CRM and Exchange Problems
Dear All,
i have a problem between CRM and exchange, my setup is as follow:-
i have a single computer with Windows Server 2003 installed, Exchange 2003,
and CRM 1.2, CRM is working just fine, the samething is with Exchange OWA,
however, i can't get CRM to send mails throught Exchange, i've installed the
Exchange E-Mail Router but with no success, is there is any kind of
incompatability between CRM and Windows or Exchange 2003, is there is any
guide to follow to solve this?

Wrong translation to Dutch
The Dutch version of CRM contains a strange translation. The search buttons all contain the text: "maken", which means "create". I think this has to be: "zoeken", which means "search". Is there a possibility for us to change this ourselves? It's a bit messy to deploy this to a client. I've tried to search in the metabase and the mscrm database but was without luck

Ongoing problem with CRM Sales Client
I have tried what Suzanne said about the folders - it makes no difference.
I have decided to go one step further and Ive managed to capture roughly
what the problem looks like in the "message" side right pane so its easier
to understand the problem.
There is nothing wrong with the CRM folders present themselves they are all
there.

An error occured while installing Microsoft CRM folders
The installation of CRM 1.2 is complete and successful. The CRM server
is running.
CRM Web access is OK.
The Installation of outlook client is successful.
W2k are updated with the latest SP and updates. Office 2003 are up to
date with the latest updates.
After starting outlook there is the following error:
"An error occurred while installing Microsoft CRM folders."
Is there anyone ho can help?

"Microsoft CRM - Application Professional" certification exam... If
any one has cleared it can u guide us ? is there any sample questions
or mock exams for this exam.or is there any books for this ? and is it
advisable to take this exam first.

Is it possible to edit the "case" form using front Page.
If so how do i set it up to access the sql database.

These forms are not designed to be edited in frontpage.
