CRM 4.0 - Customizations Warning
I am running CRM 3.0 Update 2 and everything works great. We have
about 6 custom entities and a lot of customizations.
When I run the CRM 4.0 install, I get the following warning:
"Setup has detected customizations in your current system that have
not been published. If you continue, these customizations will be
lost. To save these customizations, you must exit Setup and then
publish the customizations."
Problem is, the customizations HAVE been published and they work fine.

We are using the campaign response form to enter responses. On the customer
field the form assistant lookup defaults to Account. I want this to default
to the contacts entity. can someone please advise me how i could go about

dead hard drive or is it video?
I turned of my computeras usual, but when I went to turn it on again,
only the fans came on. I can feel activity in the hard drive and it seems to
click
on and then off...no signal imput to my screen.

calculate number of days between two dates
I have a simple scenario. If the ratified contract date is blank, then
calculate the number of days from contract offer date to todays date,
otherwise, calculate the number of days from contract offer date to contract
ratified date.
Here is my attempt a the code I am trying to make work, but the conditional
statement doesn't appear to work and then doesn't calculate the correct
number of days:

Data Migration Manager for CRM 4.0
I have just successfully installed CRM 4.0 and life is good. My next mission
was to install the data migration manager and attempt my first data migration
from another system. I was able to get the tool installed, but immediately
ran into the error:
The Data Migration Manager encountered an error while setting up the
temporary migration database.
After reading the readme file, I deleted the UserReplicationID from the
registry as it advised. I restarted the Data Migration Manager and still get
the same message. Does anyone have any insight into what other factors might

Reports Error
Hello,
On a client computer, in IE when I click Reports I get the following:
"Microsoft Error
An error has occurred. for more information, contact your system
administrator.
Try Again or Cancel"
Click Try Again. same error.
On the server, in IE when I click Reports I get the following:
"Microsoft Error
An error has occurred. for more information, contact your system
administrator.
Try Again or Close"
Click Try Again. same error. Click Close and the IE tab with CRM closes.
This is a new installation. We have CRM, SQL, Exchage installed on the same
SBS box.
I am not that techie. any ideas?

IE error when viewing reports
Hello. I recently fixed out Reporting Services configuration so that the
Reports are now available within CRM, but now when I try to run one, I get
one of 2 the Internet Explorer errors of:

New installations - Outlook 2007 and CRM 3.0 Help
On new installation on windows XP SP2 clients along with Outlook 2007. The
installation is going through just fine but when we lauch Outlook 2007, it
says it cannot communicate with the CRM 3.0 server. Mailboxes resides on
Exchange 2007. We already upgraded our Exchange 2003 server with the
latest CRM router that supports Exchange 2007 mailboxes.
On the client CRMcore.dll is at 3.0.5300.1361

Manually launch workflow on all records in CRM 4 ?
Hello people,
I have a field on the contact records in CRM 4 that I would like to clear.
I have made a little workflow, that nicely clears the field on the record
and that I can manually call. This works fine.
Now: is there a way to manually launch this workflow so that is executed on
all records at once and not only to the onces I have selected (and thus are
limited to only 250 at a time) ?

OnLoad Event Error
Hey All,
My client is getting an odd error during the Account Form's OnLoad event.
There's an extensive amount of JScript code in it, but all was working on the
CRM Server during testing, but when the User open's the Account, they receive
this Msg:
Error: Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted.
Requested operation requires a current record.
Part of the code queries a filtered view in the CRM db, could it be that
some users do not have permissions for this view?

CRM 3.0 toolbar in outlook not responding
Hi,
The CRM toolbar in outlook does not repond at all, if i click on any of the
buttons they do nothing. The buttons seem to be working but nothing happens
once you have clicked them, however when I view the CRM offline data in the
tree view it appears fine.
This occurred after i went offline, and now i cannot get back online. I am
using Windows XP and Office 2003 Professional.

Dynamic Value in Workflows
Hello,
I am creating some workflows and I want to set a value in an Account Entity
based on a value in the Opportunity Entity. I believe I should be able to
use the Dynamic value wizard within Workflow manager - i.e. select Account
and the filed and select = and then go to Dynamic Value and select
Opportunity and the field that I want the value to inherit on change of
status.
However when I do this I can only select Account within the Dynamic Value
picklist.

Change Actual Revenue display in Opportunity
Can anyone tell me how to change the Actual Revenue display name in
Opportunity. This field is on the Close Opportunity screen when you Close an
Opportunity. I have located the attribute in Opportunity and change the
display name but at the Close Opportunity screen it still states Actual

Remove relationships between custom entity
My client created a new custom entity and during the creation process,
checked the box for Activities on the Entity form. This automatically
created relationships between the custom entity and each activity type so
that users can set the Regarding field on their activities.
Now, the client would like to remove the relationships between the custom
entity and activities so that users cannot relate activities to the custom
entity. The Activities checkbox cannot be unchecked on the Entity form.
When I try to delete the relationships from the Entity form, I get the error
message:
"System relationships cannot be deleted."
I realize that I could create a new identical custom entity with identical
attributes and then transfer all of my data over to it, but this would be
fairly time consuming and I was hoping there was an easier way. Does anyone
know of a way to delete the relationships between activities and a custom

Users cannot create appointments
Hi everyone
We have recently updated CRM to 3.0. Since the upgrade, everything is
working ok but for one little problem.
I have users in one particular BU that cannot create appointments. Users in
all other BUs do not experience this problem. Also, if a move a user out of
this BU, he will be able to create appointments.
I have rollup 2 applied.
Clues anyone?

Quote Revision Views
I have searched far and wide through these forums and every book I
have available to me and still no success with this subject.
Request:
My customer would like to historically view each Quote according to
the revision number.
Problem: There is no default report or view that has the capability
for reverting to an old version of the quote or allowing a comparitive
view of the quotes.
Is there any out-of-box solution to view all quotes per client?
It seems that the only historical view is if the quote is sent out via
email to the client.
In this clients case they might have several people review and modify
the quote and the Sales Manager would ultimately decide which version
would be sent to the client for approval.
Is there a specific query to the database directly that would allow me
to see how many versions are in the table per quote id?

Best way to access CRM from other locations
We have CRM V3.0 installed and initially understood that our other office
locations could access CRM via the Web Client. We have since learned that
this is an unsupported configuration when the other locations do not reside
on our domain. In addition to remote offices, we also have personel who

CRM 4.0 Outlook client hangs on folders
Hi,
We are experiencing problems with the Outlook "online" client. Outlook 2007
starts up just fine and the CRM features seem to work well but when
navigating subfolders of e.g. the Inbox the list of messages never loads. The
progress thingy that appears when loading is all we get.
I ran the client diagnostics and it mentioned that I had many messages in
the folders. Yup, that's why a need a tool like Outlook to help me organize
them. I have around 3000 messages in my inbox but the same thing happens when
selecting another folder.

Look For field in Cases
If you select filtered view of All Cases then use the Look For field to find
a customer, it automatically filters out only Active cases - not All cases

I tried to import Customizations but I got an error as following: "This
attribute map is invalid. The selected attributes should be of the same type.
The length of the source attribute and the formats should match. The targe
attribute should not be used in another mapping". Therefore, my import
wasn't get through.

CRM Outlook Client Hanging
Every so often, Outlook 2003 will hang, and the user will have to kill it
via Task Manager. Next time they load Outlook, a message will say something
on the lines of a serious error occurred with the CRM PlugIn and it gives you
a choice whether to disable it or not.
The issues only seem to be happening on recently installed machines as I
hadnâ??t had anywhere near the same level of problems with early installs of

SBS domain â?? everything seems to working fine except when you try to send an

server has been added to the list of computers which can relay through the
exchange server.
Tried to repair the CRM server and setting the authentication of the
Outgoing SMTP server to basic and used the administrator username and password
Uninstalled and reinstalled CRM
The email just does not seem to be created on the Exchange server â?? doesnâ??t
seem to be in the exchange logs â?? and there are no event errors on either
server that would indicate what the problem is.

CRM 4.0 e-mail to case
Hi,
Last night I downloaded the 90-day RTM eval and successfully upgraded a copy
of our product CRM system to version 4.0 from 3.0 rollup 2. It took a while
to complete but went extremely well considering the number of customizations
we've made. No errors and everything was perfectly converted. This looks like
a very good release.
I've read in several places that 4.0 included the possibility to convert
e-mail to cases eg in the help "Creating queues for Incoming Cases":
"In addition to cases, you can set incoming e-mail messages to be routed to
a queue, route all incoming messages, or route only those regarding a
Microsoft Dynamics CRM account. In the queue, e-mail messages can be assigned
to another queue or user, or converted into a case, opportunity, or lead."
Does anyone know how to enable this feature? We are using c360's email to
case today and would like to use the built in feature if possible.

Calling OnChange on OnSave is not saving data
Hi,
I have zipcode field on screen. I have code written on OnChange which
populates the city, state etc. fields (by making callout) as per the entered
zipcode.
The problem is when I change the zipcode and without tabout if I hit on
'Save' for a form, only new zipcode gets saved but rest information remains
old. I am trying to call FireOnChange() for zipcode on OnSave of the form.
But its not working either. Calling crmForm.all.zipcode.OnChange() on form
OnSave gives me error but works fine.
Any help is appreciated.

CRM 4.0 Terminal Services support
I have read through the CRM 4.0 planning guide and the "what's new in CRM
4.0" partner guide, and see very little mention of Terminal Services support
for the client Outlook 2003/2007 CRM Plugin. One example in the Planning
Guide page 4-63 shows a "Terminal Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook"
in "Domain B - Forest Y". There also appears to be a discrepancy between
these two guides in support for Windows 2000 SP4 - the what's new page 2-11
specifically says it is supported, and the planning guide page 3-29
specifically says it is not.
Is there, or will there be, support for Outlook 2003 and the CRM 4.0 plug-in
under Terminal Services 2000, 2003, and/or 2008? We run a pure TS
environment, so lack of support would prevent us from rolling out 4.0,
reverting to CRM 3.0.

Change Associated Entities after custom entity is created?
I have a custom entity that, on creation, I did not select Notes as an
Associated Entity. Now I have a need for attachment support for this entity,
so I'm guessing I need the Notes now.
Is there any way to activate Notes as an Associated Entity after the fact

CRM 3.0 - Reports working only on local machine
Hello all!
I have a strange problem that's probably easy to solve but I'm missing some
vital details.
I have a Win Svr 2k3 machine with MS CRM 3.0 installed. The SQL Server and
Reportig Server are installed on another physical server. Everything works
fine but for one detail: when I try to access Reports (no matter what user
is logged in), I get an error message: "A error has occured. For more
information, contact your system administrator." It happens on every
workstation.
However, if I load CRM into browser locally, on the server the MS CRM is
installed on, Reports work fine, again no matter what user is logged in! The
same URL with the same logged user produced different results!
It looks like Reports are ot "enabled" for remote access....what am I
missing?

Outlook Contacts deleted
A collegue of mine has a problem with outlook, CRM syncronized all contacts
with his account and he has now lost ALL his personal contacts which were on
there. Its also done the same with his Mobile PC.
Any ideas on how to restore this as he has no backups of his contacts

I can hide the left navigation bar items in the incident form. But the white
space of navigation area is still there. Is there a way to remove this white
space?
